Neighbour planted 3 new bushes/trees in my garden!

calistaraines · 02/05/2019 17:57

Came home to find 3 newly planted trees in what is quite clearly my garden as it is my side of the fence!
Am I in my right to pull them out? I don't really want them where they are. Beside the fact that they could've at least asked for permission!!!

Has the gardener been by yet?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/05/2019 16:40

Will do, as soon as it’s grown a bit more.

It’s deadly, I keep it for zombie apocalypse purposes.

FiremanKing · 03/05/2019 16:44

Ultimately the gardener was requested by A to plant in B’s garden and as he works for both it should have been straightforward to double check with B that they had agreed to what A wanted.

A can ask the gardener to do whatever they want him to do but it’s the gardeners responsibility to check that any work he carries out is done properly and authorised by the owner of the area he is working on.

A kindred soul with a trellis thread! Hurrah. Sorry about your twatty neighbours, OP.

My trellis issue is now resolved (must update thread...) but I SO wish that I'd gone with the Nicholas Cage option.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/05/2019 17:03

Got it.

It's sea buckthorn. Not sure what's it doing in my garden, which is nowhere near the sea.

I also love Weleda Sea Buckthorn Oil, but my advice to all would be "Don't plant it".

MoreCookiesPlease · 03/05/2019 17:03

Can you pin a picture of Nicolas Cage to the trellis so his face can stare through the fence at them?

@VimFuego10, Thank you for making me laugh out loud today. Grin

OP are you back from the school run? Waiting for your update.

Knittedfairies · 03/05/2019 17:06

Given that a weed is a plant growing in the wrong place, you could legitimately weed out the pyracanthas, because they are definitely in the wrong place

greathat · 03/05/2019 17:16

They should be paying the gardener or someone else to remove the root, not paying them to trespass on your property. Right now they need to pay the gardener to remove the thorny fuckers

sackrifice · 03/05/2019 17:19

It has elongated silvery lives and it flowers in yellow

I was going to say Sea Buckthorn - I loves it. It is a mental spikey fucker though. And you need 3 to ensure that one is male and one female to pollenate otherwise - no lovely berries.

IncrediblySadToo · 03/05/2019 17:24

Prickly fuckers...

...and I don’t mean the plants!

TheNoodlesIncident · 03/05/2019 17:25

I feel sorry for these pyracanthas, it isn't their fault. As they've only just been planted they won't have rooted into the surrounding soil, so it would be easy to lift them by pulling the soil away from their rootballs. OP can then give them back to neighbours or whatever she wants to do.

If I were the gardener in this scenario, I wouldn't have planted in B's garden on A's instructions, I would have had to say "I'll have to speak to Calistaraines first about that". And I would also say "I can get rid of the big root on your side for you, then you could plant in there. But not all three pyracantha, as there isn't enough room for shrubs their size there". And I would have watered them in, as he doesn't appear to have done, as well as planting too close together. (Then probably "You know, that pesky ivy you've got here...")

And Japanese quince is a shrub. I'm too invested in this...

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 03/05/2019 17:28

Irrelevant, but... how does having three ensure that one is male and one is female? Couldn’t you just get three the same?

Willow2017 · 03/05/2019 17:30

Arghhh post vanished!

Its half done! 'High rise patio' needs doing but too cold and windy now.
Bottom part swept, washed and stuff put tidily although need to get rid of old bike and roof box.

Was slightly traumatised! Have a very old 'milk bucket' i usually pot up.with bulbs but not this year. It was full of green water so emptied it at drain at back door, bent to.pick up the leaves that came out and realised something too hard for leaves underneath...a dead frog!!😲😲😲 thanfully had gloves on. Then out hopped a live one! Ds1 came running at all the squealing i.was doing😁 put it in the bucket with some water and carried on clearing up.the rubbish and leaves. Then found another damm frog! So.have 2 in a bucket with chickweed to.release later. Apparently you do.it at dusk to give them the best chance, ds1 looked it up. He was no use as wouldnt go near them😀😀
My hands are wrecked and bleeding between sweeping and catching them on the walls. Need to plaster my cream on later.
Ds2 still alive and kicking and enjoyed the film. Was worried he would be upset as have heard adults coming out crying but he was ok. (He is a softy like me) He forgot the damm coat after all that! But its bern roasting apparently so will.let him.off.

Hope you all had a less traumatic day. Pity i dont have room to.make a mini.pond😐

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/05/2019 17:32

I thought you were talking about Quince proper, Noodle, Cydonia Oblonga, which is a tree. Japanese Quince is not a real quince, but it is a shrub indeed, It's Chaenomeles.

Sackrifice, now that makes sense, I thought it could be Sea Buckthorn because of the lack of berries, but I only have one of the fuckers.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/05/2019 17:33

sorry, couldn't be

Willow2017 · 03/05/2019 17:38

Ffs my 2nd post hasnt appeared wonder where it went!

Sorry for the random post folks the pages are jumping all over for some reason.

riverislands · 03/05/2019 17:45

I would remove them. If you do t, check them for thorns, and they look like pyracantha to me. Which isn't suitable with children, at all.

sackrifice · 03/05/2019 17:59

Irrelevant, but... how does having three ensure that one is male and one is female? Couldn’t you just get three the same?

You could, but as you don't usually know until years later when one flowers, they are usually planted in 3s. Or more.

Japanese Quince is not a real quince, but it is a shrub indeed, It's Chaenomeles.

I don't want to get into the technicalities of fruity prickly fuckers, but Chaenomeles can be either. I am a bit of a Quince fanatic. I have several rare ones all grown from seed, Cydonia and Chaenomeles and all grown as trees.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/05/2019 18:07

Cydonia is the tree in my book, lovely big scented fruit, white flowers.

Charm omelets is thorny, smaller, has small fruit, not sure if they smell, and flowers all sort of colour.

I grow both too, both are lovely, but I love the tree one a tiny little bit more. We always had the tree varieties when I was growing up, the decorative one didn’t do well.

I now have some pomegranate seeds germinating, another thorny bugger.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 03/05/2019 18:12

@Willow2017

That pic looks like a blurry poo 🙂

sackrifice · 03/05/2019 18:12

They do smell, the ones that you are thinking of are indeed small as they were bred for hedging; however not all are small, some like the Giant Chinese Quince Chaenomeles cathayensis are huge.

cees · 03/05/2019 18:13

Did you talk to the op?

cees · 03/05/2019 18:13

Them

Willow2017 · 03/05/2019 18:45

I know i realized after i posted it was blurry😀😀

llangennith · 03/05/2019 19:06

Pyracantha are sooo prickly and their thorns are very long and very sharp!
I thought at first they'd planted three climbers though why plant them your side? Gardener isn't up to much either as he's planted them much too close to each other.
Get them out asap!
