Neighbour planted 3 new bushes/trees in my garden!

Came home to find 3 newly planted trees in what is quite clearly my garden as it is my side of the fence!
Am I in my right to pull them out? I don't really want them where they are. Beside the fact that they could've at least asked for permission!!!

@Willow2017 that photo totally looks like 💩

SirVixofVixHall · 04/05/2019 21:58

I hope op comes back. I am longing to know what possible justification the neighbour could give for planting stuff in someone else’s garden.

expat101 · 04/05/2019 22:12

I would be having very firm words with the gardener to let them know their actions were wrong, then instructing them to remove the plants and make good the area.

I really hate conflict too and avoid it a lot - but seriously this is outrageous. It cannot be tolerated. I would have to confront the neighbours about it.

calistaraines · 04/05/2019 23:29

They are out! Gardener removed them yesterday afternoon.
I believe it was his suggestion to put them on our side due to the root issue on theirs.

I am non the wiser as to why neither him or our neighbours felt it was acceptable to do this without asking us first.

Need to know, please update!!!

expat101 · 05/05/2019 03:31

OP Because they all know they have gone about this the wrong way around.

Good to know the gardener has removed them. Shouldn't have been your worry to do so.

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 03:43

I hope you sacked him.

Ruru8thestars · 05/05/2019 05:22

I hope you got rid- the whole world is not his personal planting playground! Trees returned to neighbours?

slipperywhensparticus · 05/05/2019 05:36

Sack your gardener he shouldn't have done that

ginghamtablecloths · 05/05/2019 08:03

That's weird. Why are the roots an issue on their side but not a problem on yours? I would tell the gardener to ask in future before he plants anything. His job is mainly to maintain what is already there. I wonder if the neighbours have mentioned the lack of privacy due to the gap and this was his way of pleasing them.

QuilliamCakespeare · 05/05/2019 08:11

I'd definitely sack him. Not only have PPs provided he knows very little about gardening (planting them too close together), he's planted them without permission.

MachineBee · 05/05/2019 08:56

I’m gobsmacked by this whole episode. You need a sincere apology from both of them.

EverythingComesBackToYou · 05/05/2019 08:57

The gardener suggested this, then went ahead and did it without your permission but you still dont know why?

Obviously you've spoken to the gardener to know that it was his suggestion, so why the fuck did you not question why he thought this was acceptable? And then sack him???

This is either not real or you're the biggest pushover....

I had CF neighbours once who put up a new fence. But instead of using proper support like gravel boards or concrete posts they just waited while I went to work and nailed their fence posts with some struts to my tree's. Then left all their rubbish on my side too!!

The struts were ripped off and all the rubbish thrown back over their shit fence back into their garden, strategically launched so it all landed right outside their back door!

Catchingbentcoppers · 05/05/2019 09:02

The gardener's idea? I definitely wouldn't have him back.

EleanorReally · 05/05/2019 09:03

What a cheek!

MrsBertBibby · 05/05/2019 09:03

All those clamouring to sack the gardener clearly have no idea how hard it is to find even a vaguely reliable one.

youarenotkiddingme · 05/05/2019 09:04

I love threads like this.

Not because I enjoy the misery and hassle caused to people by CF and their gardeners but the responses are always hilarious Grin

A gardener who plants bushes in someone else's garden can hardly be called 'reliable'.

MrsBertBibby · 05/05/2019 09:44

Meh. Just overenthusiastic. He dug them up again.

Clutterbugsmum · 05/05/2019 09:46

A half way decent gardener would know you do not plant extremely prickly plants at the front of the bed.

These plants are the type of plant you grow along a border to stop people climbing into your garden using them as a natural 'barb wire' due to their thorns.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 05/05/2019 09:57

Oh god get rid of the gardener. I couldn’t trust them on my property.

EverythingComesBackToYou · 05/05/2019 09:59

"Just overenthusiastic"
What?? Hmm

Any gardener who suggests to my neighbours that he plants prickly bushes in my garden, in a spot they shouldn't even be planted in, because said neighbours dont want to see through the trellis, doesn't ask permission and deliberately waits until I left the house so he could jump over and quickly plant them without my knowledge is not over-enthusiastic. He's sneaky an underhand. He's prioritised the neighbours request over my right to be consulted about the work in MY garden that I OWN and to either permit or refuse to it. He see's me as a mug and a pushover. So yes, he'd be absolutely sacked. And words wpuld be had with my neighbours for agreeing to allow the gardener to do it.

diddl · 05/05/2019 10:00

"I believe it was his suggestion to put them on our side due to the root issue on theirs"

What????

Does the root issue affect their whole garden then?

What a crock of shit that sounds.

strawberrisc · 05/05/2019 11:14

So did he trespass on your property or have permission as he's your gardener? If he did have permission he still didn't have your say so to plant trees!
