Neighbour planted 3 new bushes/trees in my garden!

Came home to find 3 newly planted trees in what is quite clearly my garden as it is my side of the fence!
Am I in my right to pull them out? I don't really want them where they are. Beside the fact that they could've at least asked for permission!!!

All those clamouring to sack the gardener clearly have no idea how hard it is to find even a vaguely reliable one.
Well I definitely don't want one who doesn't seem to have a clue where to put plants like this tbh.

QuilliamCakespeare · 05/05/2019 12:18

@MrsBertBibby I have a gardener so I'm well aware of how hard they can be to find. Ours isn't amazing to be honest but he certainly wouldn't be back if he planted shrubs in our garden without permission.

Twinmama32 · 05/05/2019 14:24

I’d keep them but always keep the cut low to the ground so the trellis still isn’t covered, just to be mean!

Which this “gardener” clearly is not. Nor is he any sort of qualified gardener or he would know not to plant Pyracantha so closely together, at the front of a bed, without the homeowner’s position.

Hairyheadphones · 05/05/2019 14:57

Who actually paid for the plants? Was the gardener going to bill you for them?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/05/2019 15:09

I hope the OP ignores all those encouraging her to take various dramatic steps to put her neighbours in their place.

It sounds to me that these CFs could very easily turn into the sort of neighbours that make people's lives a misery. Imo they need to be tackled with great care. OP doesn't want to end up being forced to move house.

I feel that whatever she does or says should be documented, i.e sending emails/writing them letters, and that she should start a diary. That way if things go very sour she can demonstrate how reasonable and polite she's been throughout.

JellySlice · 05/05/2019 16:53

I'll bet that the CF neighbours have told the gardener that you are all good friends and look after each other's gardens and homes, and have agreed to garden together, etc etc etc. After all, you both employ him, so he would probably believe this.

You really need to spell it out to him, that he is not allowed to take instruction from anyone else regarding your garden.

nordicwannabe · 05/05/2019 17:16

I would definitely make it clear to the gardener that any work in your garden MUST be agreed with you first. Next time, he might cut something down which he shouldn't, which is less easily fixed.

(We had a gardener who we asked to cut back the shrubs in our garden. He came very close to lopping 3m off the young tree we had planted 8 years earlier.).

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 17:22

I’d be out there at night wearing a balaclava and spelling out CUNTS with weed killer on their lawn if they give any more bother.

crimsonlake · 05/05/2019 20:38

What a strange explanation from your gardener? He was trespassing for a start?
My elderly neighbour once asked her gardener who we once shared to mow my lawn as a treat for me and she would pay him, he was very reluctant unless he had my go ahead.

HairyPottyMouth · 06/05/2019 23:45

Spell it out in wildflower seeds. Play the long game Grin

Bignosenobum · 09/05/2019 15:54

Am sorry. The gardener the neighbours they are fucking mad.

Bignosenobum · 09/05/2019 16:00

My mum who had "issues" once poured weed killer on a neighbour's lawn in the shape of a giant snail.

FictionalCharacter · 09/05/2019 19:52

"Hi neighbour, look, our gardener planted these in my garden instead of yours ha ha. I really don't want them there so I'm taking them out, where can I leave them for you until he can replant them?"

FictionalCharacter · 09/05/2019 21:13

Oh sorry, didn't see he already removed them.

Binglebong · 09/05/2019 21:18

I hope the gardener has been sacked and told exactly why. And that you didnt pay for the removal!
