Yes he did - and I'm very grateful that he did. Not because we needed permission - he's told me he would have still asked had my dad said no - but because it's a nice traditional gesture that I know would have meant alot to my dad.

This is why I don't get it. At all. "Dad - DH-to-be wants to ask you for my hand in marriage because tradition but just to be clear we absolutely don't give a shit what you think and are going to get married anyway. Isn't that nice?"

Ah, how sweet and lovely. I'm a convert. Hmm

My Mum’s as my parents have been separated since I was 14.

My dad walked me down the aisle (civil ceremony, no giving away)
