Prompted or inspired by another thread, I miss early 2000 Monsoon for beautiful dresses, 1990s Next for work (mainly), and going back in time C&A and littlewoods for uniform and school coats (my mum bought those though :) ) and the Marshall Ward catalogue my mum used to get for summer holiday stuff. Morgan

formerbabe · 22/04/2019 17:44

Only the coolest girls at school shopped there!

Connieston · 22/04/2019 17:45

OMG I recall via nieces even the carrier bag was trendy.

I go in C&A when I'm on the continent. They're great for basics and PJs. The till lady in Portugal said all the British say how much they miss it.

sue51 · 22/04/2019 17:48

Biba. Nowhere else comes close.

Connieston · 22/04/2019 17:51

I saw a thing on telly about Biba, with some women wearing their original outfits. They all looked wonderful and the outfits were stylish and still timeless. Must have been brilliant to shop there. So exciting.

I loved C&A. Clockhouse for really trendy, funky stuff or Yessica for work clothes.

Also miss Clothkits (I know they’re still around but not as much choice and too expensive for me).

SittinOnThaToilet · 22/04/2019 17:52

MK one!

dontcallmelen · 22/04/2019 17:53

Bhs for lighting,towels,bedding.
Adams & pumpkin children’s clothing.
Yy Morgan, Chelsea Girl, Jane Norman & Mark One, my teenage heaven shops.
Biba was the coolest shop of all though.

American apparel

Missingthesea · 22/04/2019 17:54

East. Really well-cut linen trousers, even though I always needed to take 3 inches off the length!

whyiinstigate · 22/04/2019 17:54

Loved Tammy Girl back in the day Grin

Groovee · 22/04/2019 17:55

BHS

Connieston · 22/04/2019 17:55

Clothkits used to do so much, not just sweet little dresses for sewing etc but beach towel throws, tomato coloured tights... adult padded jackets.

Chelsea Girl for blue satin rara skirts definitely!

Morgan. Their trousers used to fit my extreme pear shaped bottom half really well!!

PetrichorRain · 22/04/2019 17:56

I miss Faith shoes, though I doubt I’d actually buy many pairs of shoes there now as I can’t really wear heels any more.

Connieston · 22/04/2019 17:56

I mourn Adams children's wear too. Lovely shop on smaller high streets. My boys had loads of nice colourful dungarees etc from there.

Morgan, Jane Norman, Kookai, Bay Trading and MK One.

MadisonAvenue · 22/04/2019 18:07

Mark One. I used to buy loads from the one in the Bullring in the mid 80s. I worked in a hair salon that closed early afternoon on Saturdays so I'd meet up with a friend and head to Mark One to buy something new to wear for going out later.

C&A. Good old Coats and 'Ats. Clockhouse was brilliant for fashionable clothes. I got so excited in Prague the other week when I saw a C&A, I even took a photo of the sign.

ForalltheSaints · 22/04/2019 18:09

I do not mourn for a closed store, I am sad that Primark and Sports Direct still exist though.

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2019 18:10

Racing Green
Kew
Gap, like it was on the high street, not the online, reduced quality stuff it is now.

Adams Kids

Theclearing · 22/04/2019 18:12

I miss the good days of kookai!

CraftyGin · 22/04/2019 18:12

Jumbo2000 · 22/04/2019 18:13
