Have you put suncream on your kids this weekend?

I did yesterday but DS has just gone out now so I thought I’d let him get some vitamin D. I’ve had skin cancer (basal cell) so I tend to go ott with it the suncream. It’s ok at this time of day to be without though isn’t it? He’s got jogging bottoms, t shirt and cap on so only his forearms our really.

Yes, but only because we've been out all day long in it and DS strips off as soon as it goes over 15°C. If we were just out for a bit and DS was clothed I probably wouldn't bother.

JoinTheDots · 21/04/2019 15:24

Yes yesterday, but like you, as they are mostly covered, I have not bothered today. Also, they are in and out of the house, and in and out of the shade. Now wondering if I should call them in to get covered!

WhiteDust · 21/04/2019 15:26

Yes. VERY hot here.

Yes, we went out for a long walk and my DS is very fair. But I work in Dermatology currently so slightly skewed perspective!

DobbysLeftSock · 21/04/2019 15:28

Yes but v v hot here. And dd stripped down to her pants almost immediately! I often don't.

hidinginthenightgarden · 21/04/2019 15:30

Yes they had some on this morning as they were out in the sun and the pool at the gym.
None since as they have just been popping in and out, not really exposed to the sun.

WallisFrizz · 21/04/2019 15:32

Yes both yesterday and today. It’s baking intense sunshine here, seems obvious.

ReginaGeorgeous · 21/04/2019 15:32

Yes, it's really hot here and she's been outside all day.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/04/2019 15:34

Of course, sun cream on all of us

newmumwithquestions · 21/04/2019 15:35

Yes. Put it straight on on Friday as they were going out to the paddling pool. Gave them 30 mins without on Saturday then put it on. It’s hot here (south England). Don’t know about today - they went out without me!

Thepacksurvives · 21/04/2019 15:39

God yes, my girls and I have all had f50 on. We're very pale, I'm a red head and burn easily. I don't know if my girls do or not as I've never given them the chance to burn. Both of my parents have had skin cancer resulting in my dad having a very scarred face so I'm extra careful

Beanybye · 21/04/2019 15:41

I’ve done his arms now.

It’s been 22/23 degrees here over the last few days so it DOES seem obvious to put suncream on. However, the UV levels have only been low-medium.

It’s worth remembering that UV levels aren’t directly related to heat. You could have cooler, cloudier weather in July but the UV levels might be stronger at that time of year.

HalyardHitch · 21/04/2019 15:45

No suncream here. Two boys under three. They're currently playing in the hallway. We were out in our shady garden for a couple of hours this morning and will go out at about five but be in and out of the shade

PotteringAlong · 21/04/2019 15:46

Honestly? No, I haven’t.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 21/04/2019 15:48

I didn't on Thursday and all four of us had very red skin that evening. We've been wearing it since then.

EggsAgain · 21/04/2019 15:49

I check the UV in my weather app. If it’s 3 or lower during the time they’ll be out I’m happy, if it’s 4/5 then I’ll either limit time outside (eg just 10 minutes walk to the shop) or require covering up with hats, tops with shoulders etc. Any higher and it’s sun cream and hats.

SimonJT · 21/04/2019 15:51

No, the UV level isn’t particularly high and my son is dark skinned.

bonzo77 · 21/04/2019 15:53

Yes. My kids are very pale. But only as we were out through the middle of the day on the beach.

WingBingo · 21/04/2019 15:54

I wasn’t going to as I am aware uv levels are lower in April, but I burned a little yesterday so today I have.

CakeNinja · 21/04/2019 15:55

Yes but they are all in and out in the sprinkler and playing with water etc.
I do wear spf on my face all year round though!

wineoclockthanks · 21/04/2019 16:23

Just come back from a walk in a park in Central London and the number of already sunburnt people was incredible.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/04/2019 17:39

I think the sun feels particularly strong this weekend. I don't really burn usually but I have burned wearing sunscreen yesterday and feel a bit sun damaged today also. We haven't had a full day out in it by any means.

And yes, the dc have had suncream and hats on.

lucysmam · 21/04/2019 17:44

Yes. Both yesterday and today.

We were out alllll yesterday & have been in Nanna's garden today, neither place very shady. 9yo dd2 has still caught it a bit on the back of her neck, and cheeks, despite me smothering her in F50 (she's ginger, and pale...a true joy when it's hot Hmm...sunburn on her does not appeal!)

Racheyg · 21/04/2019 17:51

Yes, lotion applied every few hours. Boys in shorts and t-shirts. Have hats on.

Not worth the risk
