Bacon sarnie is bread, ketchup and lots of streaky bacon. No butter,that makes it slimy.

Oh bloody hell, I had the opposite experience today. I am currently oop north and I am forrin. My bacon butty tasted of nothing but butter, fucking hell it was minging

Isn't the very definition of the sacred 'bacon butty' a buttered bacon sandwich? The clue's in the name, surely?

You do need butter for a chip butty though.

You have to butter the bread to make sure you get all the major food groups: wheat, dairy, meat and assorted spices in the HP sauce. A bacon butty is a complete meal. And a heavenly one at that.
