It's just bacon and dry bread. I'm flabbergasted.

Why has nobody mentioned mayonnaise?

RedForShort · 17/04/2019 08:08

Because we have souls thefuriousfuggler, souls.

MustardScreams · 17/04/2019 08:11

Put the butter in the hot pan after taking the bacon out and dip the bread in that. Glory.

Bodear · 17/04/2019 08:15

Completely off topic of the whole thread but is “butty” really short for “buttered sandwich”???Shock
I never knew! I thought it was just any old sandwich, dry, buttered or mayonaised. Wow!

ReginaGeorgeous · 17/04/2019 08:48

@Ella1980 I'm from brum and always have butter!

MsMustDoBetter · 17/04/2019 08:50

He's right. You don't need butter, bacon has enough grease.

Iggly · 17/04/2019 08:53

If it’s decent quality bacon, nice and crispy then yes you absolutely need a bit of butter, especially with thick bread. Nom

Rockbird · 17/04/2019 09:02

Stand by. MustardScreams has just upped the ante. Dipping the roll in melted bacony butter you say? 😋

whohaa · 17/04/2019 09:11

He said he's always eaten them without butter. We've been together 8 years! 8 years he's hidden this from me.

Reddedder · 17/04/2019 09:54

I’d never eat a bacon sandwich without butter. Yuck

JenniferJareau · 17/04/2019 16:51

Yuck! No butter Shock

I'd have thrown it in the bin!

No HP sauce, has yo be ketchup.

SilentBob · 17/04/2019 17:03

I like my bacon sandwiches thus:

Bread
Butter
Bacon
Butter
Bread.

I now live in a city, and manage a cafe, where a bacon sandwich is served on toast as the norm.

My partner knows my disdain for a toasted bacon sandwich (it hurts the roof of my mouth, special snowflake that I am) yet this weekend just gone, he made many, many sandwiches of 'bacon on' (shorthand for bacon on toast apparently!) and, and, and... he PUT CHEESE ON THEM!

I did my best but no, I will be making The bacon sandwiches in our house henceforth. (His on toast, with cheese, because I'm aware that he likes them like that- mine on bread with no cheese because I am not a psychopath)

thefuriousfuggler · 17/04/2019 18:33

@RedForShort is this why I can't see my reflection in the hall mirror then? Thank goodness - I thought I was just a bit of a housekeeping slattern Grin

SofaSurfer20 · 17/04/2019 18:34

Leave him

iklboo · 17/04/2019 18:48

Surely the butter dripping down your fingers is one of the best bits!

elephantoverthehill · 17/04/2019 18:51

I had to laugh at my Db on the weekend. He came home from work and made himself a bacon sarnie. The bread was completely dysfunctional, it did not hold the bacon and just fell to pieces as he tried to eat said sandwich. I hope this occurred as he had not applied the requisite butter to glue it all together

Aragog · 17/04/2019 18:52

That's what dh and Dd have, as do pretty much all our bacon eating friends. They never have butter in sausage or bacon butties.

I love butty so have butter on all sandwiches, though I don't actually eat bacon.

Aragog · 17/04/2019 18:52

They do have brown sauce or ketchup though - not totally dry bread

RedForShort · 17/04/2019 18:56

Yes thefuriousfuggler that'll be it. Mayonnaise!!! Can't say I'm suprised you've no reflection. Not in the slightest.

😃

PerspicaciaTick · 17/04/2019 18:58

If you fry one side of the bread in the bacon dripping you don't need slimy butter HTH

Mapril · 17/04/2019 19:15

No butter.

Bacon dip, and/or lots of fried or grilled cherry tomatoes mashed into the bread.

JenniferJareau · 18/04/2019 06:45

Tomatoes? Add a egg if you must but no tomatoes!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 18/04/2019 07:12

Gotta have a bitta butter.

FentonForChristsakeFenton · 18/04/2019 07:22

A most excellent thread.

I have my bacon butties with butter.

The rest of my heathen family have no butter and copious amount of ketchup. My dh corrupted the children when they were young and I was unable to turn them away from the dark side. On their heads be it. Tsk.
