Do you ever look at someone and think I really want to give them a make over ? There’s a Mum I see on the school run, probably about 40

Lovely slim body, and I thjnk she could really improve her look as she wears these baggy jeans
Awful trainers and fleeces and her hair is like a bush
I think even if she wanted to dress casually, she would look so so much better with some jeans that fitted well, some nice smart trainers, she’s. It not making the most of herself, somedays she clearly works as she will wear a skirt with heals and a fleece

I wouldn’t want to be so rude or ever say anything but I just think could sill dress just as causally, bit look so much better

I want to mount the caretaker as my DC's school. But I don't. Cos you know, you don't do stuff like that. You want to give someone a makeover.... just no. How do you know she doesn't look at you and think "Christ, how can anyone be SO bothered about their looks on the school run!?"?

For all you know, she's just finished a night shift and she's off to bed when she gets in, she may have a chronic condition, she could just be tired. Calm down OP, the world won't end because she hasn't plucked her eyebrows

I have the piss taken out of me for wearing a fleece and not plucking my eyebrows. I don't really care.

Yes if it was man wearing badly fitting jeans, scruffy trainers and a fleece and looked like he hadn’t brushed his hair
I would also think he would still dress just as casually but also look so much better with some nice smart trainers
And decent fitting jeans

And I would get all those fleeces and burn them 🔥🔥they really should be illegal

I’d be interested to know what she thinks ( if anything) about your appearance.

areyoubeingserviced · 29/03/2019 09:45

MYOFB

HeddaGarbled · 29/03/2019 09:46

No, but I occasionally notice “groomed” women and think why do they waste their precious time on that nonsense 😛

ShowOfHands · 29/03/2019 09:48

Not making the most of herself? Selfish cow. I mean who gives a shit about her actual life, parenting, job, contributions to society, personality, intentions, challenges, dreams, hopes, endeavours. You don't like her hair Hmm

Lardlizard · 29/03/2019 09:48

I’m not talking about her having a face full of make up or anything
Just the same clothes, trainers jeans etc that for better and look better
Not talking about make up at all

Lardlizard don't you know that nobody on MN judges anyone by their appearance and anyone who does is a terrible person.

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 29/03/2019 09:49

I look terrible on the school run as I am rushing. Once he’s at school, I make myself up and put nice clothes on ready for work

YolandaVerranda · 29/03/2019 09:49

This reminds me of the pilot episode of Miranda where she says if she had a show like Trinny and Susannah it would go like this

Miranda (approaching woman on street) "Well let's have a look at you then, well I wouldn't wear that top but you look comfortable, are you?"
Random woman on street, "yes"
Miranda, "Do you like it?"
Random woman on street, "yes"
Miranda, "Do you care that others may not like it?"
Random woman on street, "no"
Miranda, "Brilliant, then wear that then."

That is how I feel about it. Fuck everyone, wear what you want.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 29/03/2019 09:49

I suspect people think this about me and I don't give a hoot. In fact I know one person said to a friend she'd love to give me a makeover and I'd have loved it if she had, just to see what I looked like, and it would be great if someone could teach me how to apply makeup properly, but I know I still wouldn't use it that often anyway, which is why I haven't paid for a lesson.

YWBU to say something though.

Progress2019 · 29/03/2019 09:50

I’ve just bought a fleece. Its comfy and warm. I was worried then that I was going to be judged, then I remembered that although I wear trainers, and have hair like a bush, I don’t have a lovely slim body, so hopefully perfect, judgy people like Lardlizard will leave me the fuck alone.

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/03/2019 09:51

I look at me and think that every now and then, nobody else though. Lifes too short.

elQuintoConyo · 29/03/2019 09:52

She might be thinking 'fucking hell, look at that that salad-dodging Lardlizzard with the scaly skin, she needs a good moisturiser and a membership to my gym!'

Some things are better left in your head OP, and not released into the wild.

And btw women are not baubles, our only value isn't as a decoration for the male gaze. Or female gaze.

Oh, and be careful what your face tells the schoolmum, try and hide your OMFG horror next time you see her Hmm

RickOShay · 29/03/2019 09:53

I don’t think the op is being judgemental. I think she is being kind. Op if you are still here, you could try chatting to her, maybe and friendship would follow.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 29/03/2019 09:54

No! But the teacher in me does tend to look at posts and flinch at he standard of literacy displayed by some of the more goady fuckers...

somedays she clearly works as she will wear a skirt with heals [sic] and a fleece

A wounded lambskin skirt? Weird.

ScaryInternet · 29/03/2019 09:54

Haven’t you posted your selfies on here before OP?

If that was you, I would probably keep it to yourself. Not everyone aspires to ‘Beverley Callard’.

RickOShay · 29/03/2019 09:54

Exactly Jane.

Pizzaaddict · 29/03/2019 09:55

Wow. So will you post a full length shot of yourself so we can all comment on your hair and outfit and figure??

FaFoutis · 29/03/2019 09:56

I actually wouldn't mind a makeover, but not so I looked like everyone else. The uniform here is skinny jeans, boots, stripy top, straight blonde hair and one of those padded coats that looks like it is made of bicycle inner tubes, usually navy. Not that.

FaFoutis · 29/03/2019 09:56

I want to see the mounting of the caretaker and 'Beverly Callard' now.

EleanorOalike · 29/03/2019 09:57

You sound a lot like someone I know. Deeply critical and mean. She’s not a very well liked woman and she doesn’t like herself very much which is why she projects her judgement on to other people. Luckily they seem to be pretty confident in themselves so it’s just her that’s unhappy.

Maybe work on yourself and your own inner landscape rather than trying to give other people makeovers...

Picklypickles · 29/03/2019 09:57

She probably realised long ago that none of this shit matters one bit. Doesn't matter who you are, what you wear, what you look like there will always be someone who just can't wait to criticise.

In the 90's I used to get bullied for having very long hair, for having bushier eyebrows than was fashionable at the time, for having full lips. Here we are 20 years down the line and everywhere I look women are paying through the nose for hair extensions, fake bushy eyebrows and lip fillers

I have no interest in what anybody thinks of me now, they can all fuck the fuck off! As long as I'm comfortable it really doesn't matter what some random school run busybody thinks.
