Just that really ... plus do you have small or giant?

Smooth peanut butter, a fancy-pants brand called 'Whole earth' or something. Or marmite (without butter). Or I place a massive slab of butter on each and then microwave so it melts, so the crumpet is lovely and hot and drenched in buttery calories goodness.

Real butter, vegemite and then back under the grill to melt some vintage tasty cheese on top.

Butter if savory. With cheese if requiring some protein and more fat.

Butter and honey for sweet.

Lemon curd

Lots of butter and sprinkled with sugar. My DP thinks this is odd but I'm going to buy crumpets later and prove him wrong!

How very timely! I have some I got cheap from Tesco (25p). Must eat them up tonight. Only butter - well- the benecon stuff.

Strictly nothing but butter. You guys putting jam and peanut butter on them are crazy!

I do t have them very often for that reason!

Small ones toast until done, then I add a scrape of mustard and a slice of cheese then grill until melted.

Benecol and cheese spread go on mine. Such a comforting snack, I love them.

Sometimes I soak them briefly in beaten egg and fry on both sides, they make a version of Eggy Bread that's very good with bacon/sausages, I think it would work with smoked haddock too.

Small, and enough butter that they only just manage to keep their structural integrity.
