Looking highly unlikely there will be a third vote on the WA now.

So it's long extension (which EU not happy about and unlikely to grant) or crash out, right?

Have been trying to follow it. I saw a thing that Bercow was in parliament and ruled something out.

Had a quick look on the beeb but can't find anything from today?

EnlightenmentwasaPassingPhase · 18/03/2019 16:33

EU will grant an extension - it's not in their interest for UK to crash out.

What makes you think there won't be another vote? Has TMay not offered the DUP a big enough bung?

cjt110 · 18/03/2019 16:34

Ah found it on another source. I think I agree with Bercow... You can't keep flinging shit at a wall 'til something sticks....

Hoppinggreen · 18/03/2019 16:34

Bercow has said he will not allow another’s vote on the the same deal

Theresa, is that you?

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:35

Bercow has ruled against a vote. I assume he's in a position to do that.
EU are sick of it all. As are we.

Who knows? Do our politicians care? Are any of them competent enough to sort this mess out?

Busy squabbling and putting party before country.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:36

I did think that draught :) clearly others could have taken more action!

Littlebelina · 18/03/2019 16:36

The speaker has said the motion has to be substantially different passingphase to be voted on again. A rule that dates back to 1600s. I had heard it mentioned over the weekend as a possibility but wasn't saw Bercow would go there

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:36

DH has just negotiated out home insurance renewal down to the same as last year. He's free now if anyone has any other negotiating they need doing.

like what? are you an influential member of parliament?

DoomOnTheBroom · 18/03/2019 16:37

The irony though of Theresa May refusing to consider a second referendum (rightly or wrongly) because you can't just keep voting until you get the result you want at the same time as trying to do exactly that with her deal.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:38

Agree cjt. I asked on another thread what is a third vote gong to do, what has changed?!
We need another vote, we'll actually we need someone in charge to stand up and say we tried, we cannot make this work, we revoke.

"This afternoon Mr Bercow invoked a precedent from April 1604 - used 12 times in the Commons since then - to warn the PM that she must significantly change her deal if she wants to force another vote on it before March 29.

It means that if Mrs May wants to force MPs into another vote after the Brussels summit this week she will have to get a new breakthrough from the EU and then present it to Mr Bercow, who would have the final say on whether a new vote goes ahead.

The Speaker said in his urgent statement: 'If the Government wishes to bring forward a new proposition that is neither the same or substantially the same as that disposed of by the House on March 12, that would be entirely in order. What the Government cannot legitimately do is resubmit to the House the same proposition or substantially the same proposition that was rejected by 149 votes'."

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:38

Exactly doom. No WA was the will of the MPs, in a much stronger way than Brexit was the will of the people.

Yes I love the way they keep talking about settlements for the dup. Call it what it is you corrupt lot

OP posts:
cjt110 · 18/03/2019 16:40

I think Bercow is pretty awesome. He sprung it on the MPs apparently.

"'The Speaker did not forewarn us of the content of his statement or the fact that he was making one. We were not given any advance warning he was going to say that.’"

Ahahaha. The whole fucking country could predict someone saying "Right, enough of this shit, new deal, no deal or revoke!"

themoomoo · 18/03/2019 16:41

emigrate I think you can still do that if you want to Grin

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:41

I'm not organised enough to be out before the 29th. And we've just paid our home insurance for a year :o

OP posts:
cjt110 · 18/03/2019 16:41

you can still do that if you want to Only if you have 6 months on your passport ;)

NicoAndTheNiners · 18/03/2019 16:42

So which is more likely now, crash out with no deal, long extension or another vote or scrap the whole idea?

cjt110 · 18/03/2019 16:42

And we've just paid our home insurance for a year Tight wad...
