Looking highly unlikely there will be a third vote on the WA now.

So it's long extension (which EU not happy about and unlikely to grant) or crash out, right?

Something has to happen to break the deadlock, I've no idea what that something will be but it'll all come to a head soon because it can't carry on this way.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:43

Yeah I don't have a passport. I've not left the country since 2006.
Bt surely at the moment I still have FOM. does Germany need any polar bears with Gcse German?

Jfc. I am at the stage of putting my fingers in my ears and going 'lalala I'm not listening' to it all.

But at the same time I still have a small flicker of hope that it won't happen.

It's almost unbearable.

DoomOnTheBroom · 18/03/2019 16:43

And we've just paid our home insurance for a year Tight wad...

Ah but her DH negotiated a cracking deal, shame to waste it Grin

morningstress · 18/03/2019 16:44

I wish I'd voted, I was 18 at the time and knew fuck all about politics. Literally kick myself now. (Remainer)

morningstress · 18/03/2019 16:44

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:44

Yes I think we beat them out of £22. Could easily offset the money that's been spent on Brexit so far I'm sure.

OP posts:
MullofKintire · 18/03/2019 16:46

I think the risks of an accidental no-deal Brexit are massive now.

As the law currently stands we leave the EU on March 29th regardless of the last vote in parliament. All those ERG members and Labour Party maybe members who were playing chicken with the EU may find they have pushed things too far.

It is conceivable that the EU will provide a bit of a fig leaf with new language in the political decalaration after the European Council this week, offering the hardliners a ladder to climb down and allowing a new vote to happen next week....but there is no certainty that they will do this.

So a very long extension (if the legislation can get through the Commons and the Lords in time) or a catastrophic no deal as of next week. Well done Westminster!

EnlightenmentwasaPassingPhase · 18/03/2019 16:47

According to the Mailonline Bercow has "sabotaged May's Brexit deal"

Grin

Andrea Leadsom will be throwing a hissy fit!

cjt110 · 18/03/2019 16:47

Yes I think we beat them out of £22. You could get a ticket to Spain with Easyjet for that! You don't need the return part don't forget! And leave the husband and kids here lol

I've been trying to be good and follow it all but it's just a bloody shambles. It's all tactical voting. Nothing to do with whether they agree with the vote or not... "Tow the party line and vote against TM and anything she brings or face the consequences."

MissionItsPossible · 18/03/2019 16:49

Do you know what I love about this whole affair? That despite how anyone voted and what party you support, we, as a country are pretty much united in how we can see how utterly CRAP politicians are. This whole debacle has really shown them up to be immature and petty at best and completely incompetent at worst. Everyone I know thinks this government is completely inept and even when this is long over, people won't forget. Not saying that anything will change, but it's really showed them in a new light.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:49

"So a very long extension (if the legislation can get through the Commons and the Lords in time)"
Surely it's the EU who will prevent a long extension

I predict a riot.

ColeHawlins · 18/03/2019 16:55

Bercow looks as though he hasn't brushed his hair in weeks. I hope he isn't having a mid life crisis.

I was hoping we could stay in this loop of endless votes for a few more years, until enough time had passed for another referendum to be widely acceptable.

I hope he thought of that before getting all decisive.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:55

Hmm. What's happened to people's vote. Have they gone quiet.

OP posts:
Springiscomingsoon · 18/03/2019 16:56

@MissionItsPossible I agree. What a shame a whole new party or new way of doing things has not emerged as I don't want to vote for any of them at the next election.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 16:57

I think John bercow is off Theresa and Phil's Christmas card list this year.

OP posts:
SisterMichael · 18/03/2019 17:00

Do you think John Bercow will join the RSC once he retires as Speaker? Either that or a 2 man show with Brian Blessed.

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2019 17:01

He basically said “You lost, get over it”

EastMidsGPs · 18/03/2019 17:02

Who will tell the 10 people walking with Nige ?

themoomoo · 18/03/2019 17:02

you know. I'll be honest: I've completely lost track of what the frig is going on and i don't think i'm the only one ( takes a long look at every single member of government and parliament and men in grey suits)

AutumnCrow · 18/03/2019 17:04

Ed Davey (Lib Dem) suggested a Speaker's conference with party leaders to move things forward now, and Andrea Leadsom stood up in her special pink leatherette jacket and metaphorically spat venom at Bercow.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2019 17:26

What is a speakers conference? What would that achieve?

OP posts:
Takeittotheboss · 18/03/2019 17:32

Thanks Crow for your visual description of Loathsome. If she's unhappy then something is going right😁

Hefzi · 18/03/2019 17:35

Constitionally, this is even more interesting than last week - it has the potential that MPs have voted down the ability to leave on WTO terms, and yet legally this will be bound to happen.

As for sneering at Leadsom, as a PP managed in an interestingly - gendered way: Bercow has been sneer-worthy ever since he was appointed Hmm. This shouldn't change just because you both are Remain at all costs. A scumbag is still a scumbag, even when he's fulfilling your personal interests.
