I am turning forty this year and am having a mild and amusing mid life crisis.
Lots if little things, but the latest is that I've just tried to brush away a stubborn eye brow hair that was lodged just under my eye... It was a wrinkle.
I have also developed joint pain, in my thumb of all places.
Please tell me this is as bad as it gets :o

Same gamer!!
I take my varifocals off to read.....

cauliflowersqueeze · 10/03/2019 16:47

Be wary of thinking blonde chin hairs can’t be seen. I have a friend who is a regular blonde Santa. She always says how she’s blond so it can’t be seen and it totally can.

cauliflowersqueeze · 10/03/2019 16:48

Sometimes at work I fantasise about having my pyjamas on at home on the sofa.

I’m 32 and can heavily relate to most of this thread.

Behind my hair dye I am mostly grey! I wear granny pants, never wear heels. Have become an avid scarf wearer, love home improvement programmes and things like escape to the country, you can’t keep me away from a good history documentary, I enjoy a weekend nap and am in bed by 10pm latest most nights!

BikeRunSki · 10/03/2019 16:55

Varifocals. Not only an indicator of old age, but they cost a fortune!

Sometimes I look a Hotter shoes with interest.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 10/03/2019 16:55

I have twice looked up interesting birds I saw in my garden on the internet to find out what they were! I have never even thought about birds before now. (I’m 48).

Also, I need my reading glasses more and more. Didn’t take them with me on recent night out (small handbag & no reason to think I’d need them). I was completely unable to pay for my parking as I needed to go online to set up an account and I couldn’t read my phone.

Burlea · 10/03/2019 17:00

I thought I'd list a few items on eBay, started to sort my wardrobe and found 16 cardigans. 15 of which were black. I'm 58.
Have never worried about my wrinkles as my eye sight is so bad if I can't see them they are not there. I rely on DH to let me know about chin hair.

haverhill · 10/03/2019 17:00

My repertoire of pained grunts and oofs to accompany minor physical exertion like bending over is now quite extensive.
Am currently ‘rocking’ a Woolovers cardigan and patterned scarf.
The great thing is, I don’t care anymore.

Hughes12345 · 10/03/2019 17:03

I’m about to do away with my underwired bras, I’m 38.

Jellyonawonkyplate · 10/03/2019 17:03

CatherineofTarragon that sounds bliss! Grin

Pinkarsedfly · 10/03/2019 17:05

44 here.

Over the last few years I have developed interests in:

R4 podcasts
Gardening - to the point I have an allotment with a shed and a greenhouse.
Drawing and painting.
Making scented candles.
Yoga.

I used to hang about in seedy bars drinking neat whisky and moshing to Nirvana.

I’m happier now though. Botox takes care of the really depressing effects of ageing.

Pinkarsedfly · 10/03/2019 17:08

Oh, and I’ve totally embraced the baggy and comfy.

No wires in my bras.
Big ol’ knickers.
Hush harems.
Lucy and Yak dungarees.
Leggings and mini-dresses.
Midi-dresses.

All the above can be passed off as style choices, whereas in fact those in the know are fully aware that the real appeal is the lack of constricting waistbands, leaving more room for gin and crisps.

When you are 50, you will realise how bloody young you are right now you whippersnapper."
And posts like this is what I started this thread in the hopes of, thank you :)

Cauliflower I'm talking about individual ones which get plucked. But thanks for the warning, OK so far I think but will beware complacency!

My inderwired bras are currently really uncomfortable, I assumed it's just that I'm a but heavier than I'd like but is this actually another ageing sign?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2019 17:19

Anyway, pyjama time for me.

villageshop · 10/03/2019 17:24

I'm beginning to adapt to being old but it's a sobering if enlightening journey.

I stumbled across the hashtag #saggyboobsmatter which is immensely freeing as bras have become so uncomfortable and having large breasts I've never felt at ease letting them loose in public (it can be risky like when they get caught by door handles). Now decided never to buy another bra and have a clear out of all the underwired ones that dig in.

But what really brought my advancing years into sharp focus last week in a way I'd never imagined could happen was seeing an old woman's crepey arm reach across my h's tanned and gorgeous body to lovingly stroke his handsome face after a night of passion. That really brought it home.

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2019 17:26

Well I hope you confronted her and asked her what the hell she was doing! :o

I turned 40 today Grin

BayandBlonde · 10/03/2019 18:02

I just about managed to scrape myself out of bed, dragged my broken and arthritic bones to the yard to muck out the horses. Went back to bed.

Got up about 12ish for dinner with family. Horses in bed.
Now at home waiting to get into bed and watch Netflix.

That's how my life rolls! Smile

HollowTalk · 10/03/2019 18:02

OP, you don't have psoriasis, do you? Just wondering with you mentioning your painful thumb joint.

PH03b3 · 10/03/2019 18:02

All the shops were hot and noisy and i hated it.... Went into marks and Spencer and said ohhh this is much nicer!!

Handay · 10/03/2019 18:06

I like a good BBC4 documentary. I probably would like podcasts but I don't know how to work them.

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2019 18:09

Bay happy birthday 🎂
I do have psoriasis... Its probably as good now as its ever been in my adult life but as you know it comes and goes. I assume you're suggesting psoriatic arthritis or whatever its called?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2019 18:10

Sorry for mentioning arthritis on the same post as your happy birthday!

They say that you turn into your mum as you age. I've done better than that, I've turned straight into my grandma. Confused

Sunday night. Dinner, jimjams and in bed with my book by 10. May watch an old Heartbeat too. The excitement! Grin
