(And how much are you paying for it?)

Just read the thread about holiday traditions and now thinking about holidays! We haven’t got anything booked yet but now with 3 kids and trying to stick to school holidays (this is also new for us) it’s slim pickings! Everything seems crazy money and / or awful!

So, inspire me, allow me to live vicariously through your fabulous holiday plans or give me some tips!!

We have a busy year this year holiday wise.

we are going to just outside benidorm with my in laws for a week in may. Big family hotel with water slides etc to entertain the kids (I have 1 DC aged 3 and a nice and nephew 8 and 10)

In September me dd and Dh are off to Turkey. Again a family hotel it's a tui family life. Water park splash park entertainment for kids mini disco. It's the only way dh and I get a "holiday" (which for us is lying by the pool with a book!) As dd is entertained and loving life and makes friends!

A week All inclusive in Salou in May for four of us that was about £1600.

We are going to the USA in August heading to Nashville and the Smokey Mountains, flights were about £250 each in a sale, just need to get a hire car and pay for hotel when we get there, can't wait!!

ifoundthebread · 17/02/2019 10:20

Keeping it simple and old school - caravan site. Very limited to dates with dp work. Costing £200 Mon - Friday for caravan hire, just need to buy site passes and food. Hoping to make memories with my dd (4) like I have when I was younger.

8 day Norwegian Fjord cruise. £2,400 for two of us all inclusive,,,,very excited!

BitchQueen90 · 17/02/2019 11:04

We do a lot of holidays as travel is really important to me. With it just being me and DS though I can afford it, I couldn't if I had more DCs.

We are having a week abroad at Easter, a week abroad in May half term. Butlins and Norfolk in the summer holidays. Then I am going to New York for a few days (no children). Also a couple of weekend city breaks here and there.

BitchQueen90 · 17/02/2019 11:05

Forgot to put cost - I spend about £6k a year on holidays. As there are only 2 of us that gets us quite a few.

Pyjamaface · 17/02/2019 11:07

Turkey for 10 days, 3 in Istanbul and a week in a villa near Antalya, at the end of May. Costing me nothing but spending money as my friend had an inheritance and she wanted to take the girls away to say thank you for helping her over the years (disabled)

Probably a caravan holiday in August with DS and my nieces. Split between 3 adults so around £150

yearinyearout · 17/02/2019 11:08

U.K. City break for three days in August £500 (for 4) and cottage by the sea in May (£350) so far. Planning a big holiday too but haven't booked yet as waiting to agree when/where to go based on other commitments.

Villanellesproudmum · 17/02/2019 11:09

I made the mistake of getting a dog, we are fairly well traveled, with our dog we tend to now pick where we think she would like to go Grin so we are going to the Borders for two weeks, but really looking forward to it, hired a gorgeous little cottage. We are going to Cyprus in October as I need some winter sun. Might also go to Wales for a week if dog approves.

Pyjamaface · 17/02/2019 11:10

Posted too soon

We'll have a couple of days in London with DS cos he really wants to see the Shard. Will probably spend around £400 for that.

DP wants to go abroad in October, either Krakow or Istanbul but he needs to sort his passport out first so I'm not holding my breath

Decormad38 · 17/02/2019 11:10

DH,DD and myself are driving to Italy in Aug to stay with a friend and her family. We went to Morocco a few months ago. Otherwise just pottering.

Hellohah · 17/02/2019 11:12

We are going to New York this year, paid £700 each for flights and accommodation for 7 nights. I've got about £1500 spending money but have already bought the attraction passes. If I spend all that, it will cost £3300.

Wales for a few days in May, paid £140 For a caravan.

Lake District in August. Not booked yet.

And we'll do a beach holiday in October. Not booked anything yet either but we usually get something for about £200 each.

Applesaregreenandred · 17/02/2019 11:31

DH and I have booked a week North Wales with the dog at end of June.

DS will holiday with friends when they have finished A level exams

We will all go together somewhere sunny in Europe in September and DH will do a few weekend breaks - with our nearly- adult DS looking after the dog !

Cheesegasm · 17/02/2019 11:39

Two weeks half board in June to Protaras and then one week B&B in Paphos in September, just me and DH Grin

maloofhoof · 17/02/2019 11:42

A week with DD15 in Turkey at the end of July. Cost £900, bed and breakfast.
Then Greece for two weeks in August. Self catering, two adults, two teens and a 5year old, cost £3000.

BlameItOnBianca · 17/02/2019 12:02

Week in Sri Lanka in May, doing it in style, so about £4000, DH and I. Then a long weekend in June to the Cotswolds with my three best friends (annual tradition) will get an Air bnb so about £150 each for that. Then two weeks in Wales in August, just flight costs as we have a house there. Ten days in the US in Nov to see DH family, again just flight costs and spending money, so about £1000 all in, then Christmas in Cyprus seeing family, more flight costs and spending, so another £1k.

Stompythedinosaur · 17/02/2019 12:04

We have a big holiday this year, going to Costa Rica in May. We don't do a big holiday every year though.

We generally camp for a week during the summer holidays, and we go to a kid's festival for a long weekend. We will do a weekend in London sometime too, as that's where I'm from.

DragonMamma · 17/02/2019 12:08

DD and I are going to NYC in a couple of weeks. Flights and accommodation for 4 nights cost £850.

We’ve got a week in Manor House in Devon over Easter - costs £500 per family (£2k in total).

Then we have a 2 weeks AI in Majorca as soon as the school holidays start (2A & 2C). Costing £3.2k but we had a free child place so should have been £4K+.

theworldistoosmall · 17/02/2019 12:12
