(And how much are you paying for it?)

Just read the thread about holiday traditions and now thinking about holidays! We haven’t got anything booked yet but now with 3 kids and trying to stick to school holidays (this is also new for us) it’s slim pickings! Everything seems crazy money and / or awful!

So, inspire me, allow me to live vicariously through your fabulous holiday plans or give me some tips!!

My sister asked me to go to a Greek Island with her for 2 weeks in July, we've been to Crete & Mykonos now thinking of Skiáthos maybe.
But I'd really like to go to Hvar in Croatia....

We're still deciding.

TheInvestigator · 17/02/2019 15:30

Joali in the Maldives, costing around £38000. It's a proper paradise island with a kids spa and treasure hunts and storytelling so it's amazing for kids.

rosydreams · 17/02/2019 15:45

we are going away to Dorset about 30mins drive from bournmouth .We are going away a month after my due date somewhere that's not to far a drive .We thought a nice relaxing seaside holiday in a caravan with onsite entertainment for our older daughter would be a good idea.We are also taking her cousin son thats 2 kids and a baby.

This way my other half can take the kids off if i am feeling tired and i can relax a bit with new baby.It was 650 for 7nights

@otterturk Omg I’m so jealous! Where are you starting? Have you a plan at all or are you just going to take it as it comes?

We’ve just come back from 3 nights in Rome which was incredible (and dirt cheap booked through BA). Looking to do either Paris or Budapest in May but like a lot of you not booking til we see how Brexit plays out.

I keep looking at St Petersburg too.

ChestyNut · 17/02/2019 16:45

TheInvestigator do you mean £38000 or £3800?

Florida for us at the end of the year, costing....FAR too much Grin

otterturk · 17/02/2019 16:51

@NotExactlyHappyToHelp thank you Smile

I'm flying to India and wandering around there for a while. Mumbai - Goa - Hampi - Sri Lanka - Indian golden triangle - Nepal / Vietnam - Cambodia - southern Thai - Malaysia - indo - Philippines - NZ

But plans are fluid.

TheInvestigator · 17/02/2019 16:57

@ChestyNut

38,000. But it's our first holiday in 8 years due to my son being ill and people often spend like, 5000 a year on holidays so it's not that bad when you think of it as 8 years worth of holiday money!

cptartapp · 17/02/2019 16:58

DS1 has GCSE's this year so no hols until they're over.
A camping weekend in July,
10 days in Rhodes in August,
4 days in Rome in October,
Just pricing up Budapest for 4 days in New Year.
About £8k in total.

Arkos · 17/02/2019 17:03

This is why I love mumsnet... one thread has people stockpiling a thousand toilet rolls and tins of spam and another has people having twenty holidays abroad in the same year.
I love it😂

Millie2013 · 17/02/2019 17:07

Disneyland Paris at Easter, other than that not much planned, as OH’s current contract is in a popular holiday area and he’s just taken on a flat there, so we may as well make use of that while we can
Not sure how much DLP is costing, haven’t added it all up yet

BollocksToBrexit · 17/02/2019 17:10

We're camping for a week in Sweden.

curiositykilledthekat22 · 17/02/2019 17:11

We’ll most likely camp for a few weekends over the summer, we have a Haven holiday booked up for the Easter break and Greece for 10 days in the summer holiday

Violetroselily · 17/02/2019 17:11

@TheInvestigator what precisely do you get for £38k?

billysboy · 17/02/2019 17:12

Off to an Irish castle for a long and lazy weekend

onlyhereforthefood · 17/02/2019 17:13

Two weeks in America- flights £500 each return
Car hire around £400
Hotels on our route about £1000
Then probably £1000 each spends.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 17/02/2019 17:18

@otterturk Wow! That sounds incredible. If you have the time and or inclination you should start a thread about your wanderings and let us live vicariously Grin. After NZ are you back? If you’re looking for an onward destination from there could I suggest Rarotonga in the Cook Islands? It’s like actual paradise. Enjoy Smile.

TheInvestigator · 17/02/2019 17:25

@Violetroselily

It's an art immersive resort with around 70 villas on the island. We're staying in an ocean villa (its over the ocean) with a sunset view and they've all got private infinity pools and a deck and stairs down into the ocean.
They have treasure hunts and storytelling and a spa for the kids. And we're having the private beach bbq and the sunset beach dinner. And there's the tree house and snorkling and all that stuff.

Violetroselily · 17/02/2019 17:38

@TheInvestigator looks stunning. Have a wonderful time.

otterturk · 17/02/2019 17:40

@NotExactlyHappyToHelp I would love to! Let's keep in touch re places - pm me?

Whattheduck · 17/02/2019 17:40

Florida in April - only had to pay for flights as we are going with friends whose parents have a holiday home there
Norfolk over the summer - we have a caravan there
One of the Canary Islands in October - not sure which yet as we are going with family/friends so will get together in March and decide but will probably be an all inclusive hotel

fussychica · 17/02/2019 17:44

So far we have planned :
A month in June driving along the coast of Croatia

a month in sept/Oct in a villa near where we used to live in Southern Spain with adult family members .

Just looking at going to Sardinia for a cheap week at the end of April.

We tend to take longer holidays as we hare the hassle of the journey whether it's flying, ferry or driving. We got caught up in the gilet jaune protests in November, it was a hell which I don't wish to repeat anytime soon.Angry

Retired so able to avoid all the school holidays these days. Hate the way everyone with with children (and teachers )have to pay so much more.

Shelbybear · 17/02/2019 17:50

We have booked a TUI package holiday to Salou, 4Star HB 2 adults 1 child and legroom on the plane £1066 for 10 nights. It covers the 2nd May bank holiday too.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/02/2019 17:51

DH and I are taking an opportunity to go away as a couple as out teen dses are going away with grandparents.

We have booked a holiday cottage in Whitby. We did plan to go abroad but we've just spent a lot on a new car and with bare it uncertainty, seemed sensible not to stretch ourselves too much.

That's likely to be it as DS1 is doing his GCSE's.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/02/2019 17:52

Brexit, not bare it🤨
