Surely this won't sell. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-57097935.html Talk about OTT!

I love it!

GiantKitten · 04/02/2019 12:20

steppemum I thought that but then noticed that although last sale was 2014 the pictures were dated 2016

So I’m thinking these vendors did do it up & tried to sell it then but failed?

My favourite parts are the hall & stairs - the double porch doors & that beautiful window!

YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 04/02/2019 12:23

I used to work at HomeSense, I now know where all the tat went.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 04/02/2019 12:23

A wild downstairs loo is the done thing these days, steppemum. It’s a great place to put the really colourful or patterned wallpaper that’s a bit scary or overbearing for a room you spend a prolonged amount of time in but that you love (also good if you fall in love with an expensive designer paper and can’t stretch to much more than a roll).

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 04/02/2019 12:28

I love it 🤷‍♀️

I love it!

if I had that kinda money id buy it!

YellowSkyBlue · 04/02/2019 12:35

I quite like it! Its quite magical and fun! You could charge people to come see it as an art exhibition.

TadaTralala · 04/02/2019 12:35

Eagled eyed viewers will see they have a photo with the same granny square cloth/throw on the garden table! I reckon it's the same owners who tried to sell it back in 2014?

ChristmasPudding2018 · 04/02/2019 12:46

I think it's a great house, but almost impossible to sell at that price (in Hastings!). If you look carefully, the kitchen is in pretty poor condition, the bathrooms are meh - I always look at the expensive bits of the house to replace. The decor is the decor, it's pretty cheap to replace, but the kitchen and bathrooms? What about that hideous lean to at the back of the house? The windows don't look in great condition either..

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 04/02/2019 12:51

YellowSkyBlue, I love your post! And, I agree it is quite magical!

NooNooHead1981 · 04/02/2019 12:52

I think it could be very beautiful with more neutral aka boring (!) decor, but it is very interesting and individual in terms of its taste. I’m pretty sure it would need a hell of a lot of work to get it done properly, but I guess you could leave it as it was decor-wise and replace the kitchen and bathrooms then decorate at a later date. Very cool house in lots of ways, it has lots of character and space. I would buy it if I had the money! Grin

alwaysthepessimist · 04/02/2019 12:54

god it is gorgeous - I would snap it up in a heartbeat if I could

PuppyMonkey · 04/02/2019 12:57

I love it too, but I did laugh at "soon to be featured in the highly revered Wealden Times." Grin

kindlyplay · 04/02/2019 13:04

I LOVE that. Probably wouldn't even do much decorating.

ArtyBat · 04/02/2019 13:39

OhMiGosh, I thought this was my house!

In fact, if it wasn't for the main room downstairs, and the 'quilted' walls in one of the bedrooms, it is!
Yes, I am an artist, but I'm not manic - as one of the pps presumes that someone living in a house like this would be. I just love and celebrate colour. The thought of living in a grey box just because fashion dictates it so, makes me shiver.
Yes OP, you're being rude to use the word 'horrendous' to describe the home that someone has lovingly decorated to THEIR taste. And that is what it is all about in the end . INDIVIDUALITY. Loosen up and live a little! Smile

InsomniacAnonymous · 04/02/2019 13:45

ArtyBat I have acknowledged that I was wrong and that it is my own taste that is in fact horrendous. I have said that I know that tastes differ and that doesn't mean either is right or wrong.
I don't understand why so many posts refer to 'living in a grey box' as if that is the only alternative to living in a house decorated in the style of the house I linked to.

I love it!

I love colour though I tend to do white walls and colour in the accessories. This is fabulous though.

Jess74 · 04/02/2019 14:06

I love it. Its the type of thing I wish I had the imagination to come up with. Its quirky and the antithesis of the white and grey blandness most of us live in.

ThatLibraryMiss · 04/02/2019 14:07

It's a model of quiet good taste compared to this. Peacocks. And foxes. A stag's head. Royal portraits. The list goes on.

Jellyonawonkyplate · 04/02/2019 14:12

I think the thread has been started by the owner to promote it. Thought it would be a hideous house..ooh but it's gorgeous! I'd consider moving to Hastings to buy it Grin

Connieston · 04/02/2019 14:13

It seems to be a joyful space, well-loved. Yes it's a bit busy but on balance I think it's great.

CoraPirbright · 04/02/2019 14:18

I think the decor is beyond gopping but the house itself has good bones. Do like the front door though - very jolly!

steppemum · 04/02/2019 14:38

Oh my goodness ThatLibraryMiss that house is something else.
It is funny though, one or two things, you think wow, that would look great if...
I would keep the painted ceiling, paint the room white, it would be amazing!
I just wonder if all those walls are actually painted by someone, (rather than printed transfers) it must have cost a fortune.

InsomniacAnonymous · 04/02/2019 14:38

What does "beyond gopping" mean?
