Surely this won't sell. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-57097935.html Talk about OTT!

It will look quite different once all their belongings are gone and you've been round a few times with Dulux brilliant white!

primoestate · 04/02/2019 07:01

It's unique. Bespoke. Not to everyone's taste but it's very obvious that the owners don't want 'vanilla '.
It's pretty and interesting.
I'd rather live like this than a beige box or a 'Mrs Hinch' home.
They all have their merits but ultimately our homes show our personalities. The owners of this house look interesting and artistic.

Dollymixture22 · 04/02/2019 07:11

It’s gorgeous - the decor isn’t to my taste but easily rectified.

I assume a lot of people will think they can snap it up because the cosmetic issue will put people off.

There is another thread here where people think the lighting in online photographs is stopping a house selling!! It’s all a about the price! If it reflects the size, location and condition nothing else matters.

tulippa · 04/02/2019 07:12

Isn't it strange that it's hard to tell at first which room is which when everything's painted bright pink and blue. The outside space is lovely.

frumpety · 04/02/2019 07:13

The décor isn't my personal taste , but I imagine it as a house that smells nice and homely when you walk in. The garden is wonderful. I would not be put off by the decoration, if I was looking to buy a house in that area, it could easily be toned down.

MacarenaFerreiro · 04/02/2019 07:14

It's better than acres of grey and crushed velvet.

pink1173 · 04/02/2019 07:15

I love it! I used to babysit at a house in Edwin road. I might go and take a look when I am next to visiting my family in Hastings!

brizzledrizzle · 04/02/2019 07:19

I love it

JellySlice · 04/02/2019 07:20

It's definitely a Marmite house! Grin

Once the clutter is taken away it would be much less overwhelming. I'd probably keep about 50% of it and just tone down the rest by turning what I kept into features rather than focus.

I'd buy it. I prefer warmth and vibrancy to grey/white/beige.

Bouledeneige · 04/02/2019 07:20

Its very Hastings. Which is full of artists and hippies. I quite like it but I wonder what would be left once the owners took away all their clobber.

It doesn't look in the best of condition - horrible upper front windows which are not in keeping with its Victorian roots. I'd be worried the decor hides a multitude of sins - is it warm and well insulated and the fabric of the building solid etc? God I'm boring.

bookworm14 · 04/02/2019 07:22

I like it (would tone it down if I moved in though). Rather this than endless bloody grey!

Oblomov19 · 04/02/2019 07:24

OMG it's lovely. Of course it will sell. It's cheap. Christ, the space!!! ShockShockShock All the rooms are enormous.

Couple of Coat of white emulsion and bobs your uncle!

ItsHardToExplain · 04/02/2019 07:27

It’s beautiful.
It’s a bit mean to post a link and said it’s so horrible. Would you put pictures of your house on here OP?

BarooSaidTheBear · 04/02/2019 07:28

It's a beautiful house! The garden is amazing. The decor is OTT but it it fun. I don't think I could live in it like that but each to their own. You can always redecorate.

Nodnol · 04/02/2019 07:28

I love it! I would buy it and not change anything. It’s got character and moods.

Horrendous would be a drug den with rotten floors and excrement smeared on the walls.

MsChookandtheelvesofFahFah · 04/02/2019 07:35

I hate the generation of people who can't see past the colour of the walls. In my old gimmer days you bought bricks and mortar now a property is classed as a doer-upper if it has flowery carpets and an avocado bathroom suite. (And priced far too low)

alreadytaken · 04/02/2019 07:39

it's not horrendous but it looks quite dark and cluttered and a lot of people wont see past that. It's also overpriced if you look at house prices in the area. I'd box up half the things in there, and paint a lot of it in lighter colours (get rid of the dark pink for a start) if I wanted it to sell - but it's also going to need a substantial price reduction.

Cheetahssitonfajitas · 04/02/2019 07:45

The garden is ace!

formerbabe · 04/02/2019 07:52

Oh well, makes a change from grey walls, crushed velvet soft furnishings and mirrored furniture.

CoolCarrie · 04/02/2019 07:52

It’s very pink, but loads of paint will sort that out , it has loads of lovely features and some very pretty wallpaper, decent garden, and a good size, I could live there.
Have a look at the house on that site which is a great fixer upper, it has ivy growing though the windows at the moment, but with a lot of work it could be a cracker.

Lycanthropology · 04/02/2019 07:56

Horrendous? Hmm
You mean it's not "antique white" enough for you, OP? Or maybe shades of grey's your thing?
I think it's great. Nice to see a bit of character in a house. So rare these days.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 04/02/2019 07:58

That is a lovely house. Yes, the decor needs calming down and...de-pinkening, but it wouldn't put me off the house any more than an ultramodern kitchen, marble tile floors everywhere and a wall of built in wardrobes.

Biancadelriosback · 04/02/2019 08:05

I would definitely buy this! But only if they left me the stuffed giraffes head in the bedroom

DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/02/2019 08:15

I love it!

It’s obviously been a loved house. Looks like a fab party house too. Once all the furniture is out, it probably would look a bit sad. But it is a fun house.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 04/02/2019 08:29

I adore it and it makes me actually quite sad to see people describing it as "horrendous" and wanting to cover it in white paint.

But then I generally don't understand how there are "trends" in interior decoration - surely people want their houses to look how they want them to look, not how everyone else's houses look? (Clumsy wording I know, sorry).

Mind you, I'm trying to recreate the bathroom from Father Ted at the moment so I'm aware people will judge me as having no taste rather than my own taste Grin
