I was watching and old episode of Bruce’s price is right on this morning and saw an old work colleague...I texted her and she confirmed it, even though it was nearly 20 years ago...

Have you or anyone you know been on a TV show? And what game show would you love to be a contestant on?

My boyfriend has been on pointless with his dad and one of my old neighbours was on Trisha ( remember that talk show!!)

I would loooove to go on to the chase!

Someone I had worked with was on an episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. She was an arrogant cow to work for and took pleasure in reducing the young typists to tears especially when she had a hangover. I was glued to the box willing her to screw up but sadly she left 250k richer.Angry

My late FIL and my SIL went on the Generation Game (with Bruce Forsyth) a few years before I met DH. They were runners up so didn't get to do the conveyor belt part but they did get to take home a Generation Game telephone answering machine, which only gave up the ghost quite recently.

My BIL was on Blockbusters many years ago too, also before I met DH, but I can't remember if he won or not. He was one of the singleton players.

I was off sick and watching daytime TV, the auction one with the orange man (forget his name). My uncle suddenly appeared and pottered about in the background right through the tense bidding section. Thought the lemsip had been spiked.

I was on game for a laugh as a kid (I put Humpty back together again for a Christmas special)

Not an entertainment show but I’ve been interviewed on the news several times and in a documentary about another person.

I was on Blockbusters as a teen. Lied and told them I played American Football (all 5 foot 2 of me!) to make myself appear more interesting.

Lots of teenagers overnight in a hotel away from home and lots of shenanigans went on. It was great fun. I've still got my signed dictionary but lost my sweatshirt somewhere along the way.

I've been on the news (BBC/Sky News /CNN/ France24) a few times as part of my previous job. Mostly to discuss economics / politics in far flung places.
Some friends of mine have been on multiple quiz shows. (They didn't win though.. but are very good!)

Ballbags · 04/02/2019 10:21

My DH was on a quiz show called Win Beadles Money. We were both on Couples Come Dine With Me (we won).

A cake I made was featured on Have I got more news for you a few months ago.

My cousin was on dragons den. No-one invested and he's now a self made multi millionaire.

chorusline79 · 04/02/2019 18:40

I was on tipping point and left first 😳 although I'm quite glad in a way as I only had limited time to embarrass myself! I cringed so badly when it was on TV , it was awful seeing myself on tv. Never again.

My niece has been on the tv lots - call the midwife, holby, eastenders most recently.

Quartz2208 · 04/02/2019 18:44

oh my uncle was on Krypton Factor - he got drunk the night before the physical challenge so wasnt not at his best. My Nan did not know this and kept on making everyone watch it much to the amusement of everyone else

MargiaStevens · 04/02/2019 18:46

I know quite a few of the band from Brassed Off (and my cornet teacher taught Tara Fitzgerald to mime playing for the film.

A former colleague was on The Chase (but lost).

I was on Newsround in a clip from a concert in the late 90s.

Itstimeslikethese · 04/02/2019 18:56

Someone I know went on Trisha with a guy she was having an affair with Shock was not a good idea!

kennelmaid · 04/02/2019 19:01

My DS was on Tippng Point

Parthenope · 04/02/2019 20:23

That’s pretty cool, Margia, though Brassed Off almost invariably makes me cry — combination of the music and Pete Postlethwaite.
