Some people just shouldn’t be allowed dc really should they. How a mother can do this is beyond me

So I guess every single poster who disagrees with all child's gentiles being cut and without their consent will be Goady...

Don't be stupid. Saying they're the same amount of damaging is goady. Like comparing chopping off a little finger and chopping off an arm.

Burpsandfustles · 01/02/2019 15:50

Go on then explain to me how they are so different please.

As for being thick I guessing you have read the articles, read the accounts from men who have been damaged, left with tremendous pain, men who feel violated this was done to them have you?

Are their feelings not valid?

PlantsArePeopleToo · 01/02/2019 15:50

If you honestly don't understand the difference then get off the thread, do some research and stop being so ignorant.

RiverTam · 01/02/2019 15:51

Burp do you genuinely not know what FGM entails?

FusionChefGeoff · 01/02/2019 15:51

I’m not goady - just thick. I’m asking someone to explain as I don’t know enough about it and I’m hoping to educated. I’m sure FGM is way way way worse but I don’t know enough about either of them to understand why.

I think that FGM is rooted in removing sexual pleasure - is that right? Does it have longer term effects on the girl / women than circumcision?

But embarrassingly I have no real understanding of WHY boys are circumcised? I know it’s largely a Jewish custom and, in the US today, it seems to have associations of being cleaner etc and it’s very mainstream.

I am, however, slightly awed to be called a GF by AF. A highlight (!) of my MN career to date Wink

Elfinablender · 01/02/2019 15:52

Are their feelings not valid?

Of course, on a different thread on a different board.

ISaySteadyOn · 01/02/2019 15:52

No, it's because nearly every thread on FG M has one person on it who would like us to STFU about that and talk about male circumcision instead. Women are not allowed to talk about anything that affects them unless they put men first.

RiverTam · 01/02/2019 15:53

I don't understand why anyone would be on this thread if they don't fully understand what FGM is and why it is so utterly horrific and incomparable to male circumcision. And why anyone thinks it is for other posters to educate them.

Google it.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 01/02/2019 15:53

Do we really want the thread to go this way? Shall we re focus?

ISaySteadyOn · 01/02/2019 15:53

And thread moved fast while I posted. Sorry.

slimthinpin · 01/02/2019 15:54

FusionChefGeoff I agree you're not being goady just asking a fair question.

Also male circumcision apparently leads to a decrease in sensitivity for men when having sex.

Ok so it's not the same as FGM but still i think a serious issue that needs addressing.

Elfinablender · 01/02/2019 15:54

Or, even this board. Grin

AnyFucker · 01/02/2019 15:54

We don't have a responsibility to educate you, Geoff

There's this thing called Google that can help you sound less ignorant

We will still be here when you come back to apologise for your crassness

TopBitchoftheWitches · 01/02/2019 15:55

Their feelings are valid, but not on a thread regarding FGM. Start a thread for the men who have suffered instead of making out they have it just as bad on a thread about FGM.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 01/02/2019 15:57

Fucks sake even on a thread about FGM some people are all 'what about the men'

Start a thread if you are so concerned, start a petition for them. Do not come on a thread about females and try and put down their suffering.

Burpsandfustles · 01/02/2019 15:57

Same here fusion... Rather ironic really Hmm.

There's a big movement agaisnt circumcision in the states and in the Jewish community, so eventually cutting a boys penis will not be the acceptable thing to do.

As for this case.. Yes it's great this mother was found out but only because it went wrong and the child had to go to hospital.
Obviously it's still too hidden to ever discover it really.

Seaseasea · 01/02/2019 15:58

So it’s been illigal for 35 years and there has been only 1 conviction in that time. Forgive me if I seem ignorant but is there anything that can be done to protect future girls?

I do understand this is probably really difficult to get a conviction, as unless someone else sees the girls genitals how would they know?

ChodeofChodeHall · 01/02/2019 15:59

Burps go and do some reading. Come back when you are better informed.

Burpsandfustles · 01/02/2019 15:59

Top bitch, im not all about the men at all.

I really dislike the the vicious way a pp poster was rounded on for simply mentioning circumcision.
It's really bizzare.

AnyFucker · 01/02/2019 16:03

Vicious ?

FFS...are you so worried about Geoff's hurty feelings ? More so than all the girls and women that have suffered lifelong pain and disfiguration?

He seems to be weathering the "vicious attack" pretty well to me.

53rdWay · 01/02/2019 16:03

Good that there’s finally been a conviction. Awful that it’s taken so long to convict anyone, and that this little girl (and no doubt so many others) was harmed in the process. Three years old and ending up in hospital for blood loss, how horrific.

Burpsandfustles · 01/02/2019 16:03

Sea yes that's the problem, the best way to combat it is through eduction.

Try and reach out the next generation thats its not acceptable but that's awful too because they would have to accept what their parents, their care givers have done to me them.

There is the cutting season but how do you stop families going away to get it done.

Chode I've done plenty of reading on it thanks which is why I feel it's also a violation... In fact I think removing any body part from any child without need and without their consent is a violation.
