17 ish countries (counting the UK as one country). 5 Continents.

Wslas · 28/01/2019 22:59

37 , 90% of this was for work, 100% of the African countries were for work, I felt lucky to visit all these countries but looking back I didn't really see the countries properly. I haven't travelled in years now and no plans to so don't see the list changing, apart from Wales! I want to visit there soon, feels ridiculous that it's so close and I haven't been.

When I was younger I did one of those 18-35 year old camping trips through Central Europe & the Eastern block which covered 42 countries. I'm not going to list them & actually would be hard pressed to remember them all :). Have also been to NZ, Australia, Fiji, USA, Iceland, Norway, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Singapore, Scotland, Wales, Barbados, Antigua, Dominica & a couple of British Virgin Islands - although I'm not sure they count as separate countries? So that adds up to 58

ILoveDaveGrohl · 28/01/2019 23:05

cariadlet · 28/01/2019 23:18

DP has more than that because he did some travelling around South and Central America before we met and went on a rally from the UK to somewhere in Africa after we'd got together (can't remember which countries he went through but it involved crossing the Sahara in a crappy old Ford Fiesta!)

travailtotravel · 28/01/2019 23:21

This year I hit 97, which is half the world ( according to the UN). Joyfully I hit this in Iran, where the beautiful town of Esfahan is described as 'half the world'

MrsTerryPratcett · 28/01/2019 23:25

Over 40 depending how you count them!

I LOVE traveling. DD now has the bug and we are trying to keep up with her age in countries!

AnotherPidgey · 28/01/2019 23:36

England, Wales, Scotland, N Ireland, Ireland, Isle of Man, France, Spain, Portugal, Tenerieffe, Italy, Austria, Germany, Norway, Iceland, Czech Rep, Slovakia, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Belarus (a cheat, I travelled through by train at night, but did have to pay for a visa so there is evidence in my passport!) Russia, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Tibet, Nepal, India.

29 on that list. Not as many as DH! Some aren't truely seperate countries but are semi-autonomous with their own distinct cultures.

Some were short hops such as inter-railing so several countries within a couple of weeks. Others were thorough travelling through the country over weeks, months or multiple visits.

I've been to Mongolia twice. The lady at the hostel was surprised to get a repeat customer as most pass through once while doing the Trans-Siberian. I loved it so much, I had to go back and show DH. Tibet was incredible and we were so lucky with the timing on getting permits. A highlight of my life was watching the sun rise over Mt Everest from the Tibetan base camp. Utterly, utterly stunning.

I still love the diversity of the UK though. 4 days of watching unchanging silver birch trees while constantly moving on the Trans-Siberian really gets you appreciating how much the British landscape can change in 10 miles Grin
