I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

Manhattan - heard being screamed across primark changing rooms in a strong Yorkshire accent.

TheMythicalChicken · 09/01/2019 21:05

Aw, I actually prefer these names to the boring pedestrian names we often read on here.

Better Thanos than James or Oliver, or something equally boring.

luckylavender was she strong, sweet, or milky? Grin

Thanos is a big name for a little boy to live up to! My point is,I guess that there is a billion-dollar villain with that name now and people will make their assumptions about it!

AJPTaylor · 09/01/2019 21:13

Sceptre.

Justanothernamechange2 · 09/01/2019 21:24

Thermos.. like the flask

MrsXx4 · 09/01/2019 21:29

A little boy I taught years ago called Raspberry. He was the cutest!

Redcrayonisthebest · 09/01/2019 21:32

Oh yes we do have a Blueberry in our school, I quite like it though.

I once knew a family with a Blessing, Lucky and Praise....... now that's a family who feels fortunate to have kids Smile

Beerflavourednipples · 09/01/2019 21:34

How long until the people claiming to meet people with hyphens in their names pronounced as “dash”

Ha ha, I was coming on to say the same thing.

'My friend is a teacher and she once taught a child called Le-a, pronounced Ledasha!'

Yeah, sure she did.

Were they African? They are fairly common names amongst people from African countries aren't they?

whatsnewchoochoo · 09/01/2019 21:38

I hate these threads - they're so mean spirited.

HabbyHadno · 09/01/2019 21:39

Not recent but a few years back I heard a lot of excited chat on the pub quiz team table behind us about a new baby granddaughter called Amber-Lynne. I thought they said Anne Boleyn at first Shock

motortroll · 09/01/2019 21:40

I taught a kid called blessing. He most certainly was not!

I don't know who this Thanos character is and I actually love the name! I guess it depends on your frame of reference.

I've taught a couple of storms which is actually a nice babe but sounds ridiculous with an everyday surname. "Storm jones"

Clottedcreamfudge · 09/01/2019 21:54

@Crunchymum do you live in Cornwall?

Other than pumpkin I also met a newborn Winter Rae recently, they were glad the baby (girl I think) was born minuets into December otherwise they wouldn't of been able to use the name.

Crunchymum · 09/01/2019 21:56

Nope, London!!

So there are at least 2 little Pumpkins running about Grin

Clottedcreamfudge · 09/01/2019 21:59

Hehe I wonder if the London one was also born on Halloween?

RussellSprout · 09/01/2019 21:59

Speaking of London that seems to be a name used over the pond for some babies.. heard of some yank schleb calling their kid London recently.... just Nooooo

Theweasleytwins · 09/01/2019 21:59

Castle

The mum kept the name quiet because she thought people might not like the name... cant think why???

I love the tv series castle but it is quite obvious his real name is Richard

Pinkyponkcustard · 09/01/2019 22:00

Denver.

madcatladyforever · 09/01/2019 22:00

Three kids called wayne, Shayne and Dwayne. Urghhhhh.

pajamallama · 09/01/2019 22:00

L-aa. Pronounced ladasha

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 09/01/2019 22:01

I'm not sure if they went through with it or not but a friend met someone on the post natal ward who was going to call their baby boy Lucifer.

pajamallama · 09/01/2019 22:02

Before anyone says- yes it was real. I saw it with my own eyes! I know PP's have mocked it!

MairzyDoats · 09/01/2019 22:04

Amber-lynn has made me crease!! Grin

canibehereifimnotamum · 09/01/2019 22:06
