I love the name Winter but I feel it's a bit more "out there" than Summer or Autumn so I'm not brave enough to use it Blush Plus it would sound awful in the country I live in.

I also love Rocco but that was vetoed by DH!

What unusual baby names were you not quite brave enough to use?

I wanted Wilding, as in Emily Wilding Davison, but was vetoed.

luckylavender · 09/01/2019 20:38

Changingagain · 09/01/2019 20:44

Both Dh and I love the sound of Illidan as a name but we're not brave enough.

Dh vetoed Elijah

What would be the female form of Caspian?

Maybe Caspiana or Caspienne?

@ForumUsername I LOVE January and I know a Winter, she's a beaut lil thing 😊

ForumUsername · 09/01/2019 20:57

@squirrelnutkins1 yes I really love them
DD was born in January which I thought meant both were perfect for her

DH didn't

Winter Rose would of been my top pick for her

50ShadesOfCrayCray · 09/01/2019 21:00

Our dds name has been mentioned a few times, MN name topic says its faddy and really popular at the moment. We've not met any others and had loads of positive comments. I'm glad I wasn't on MN when we were pregnant with her as I may have been put off and it's the perfect name for her. I didn't think I was being brave.

DS was going to be called August up to about 3 days before he was born and it suddenly didn't feel right. Family were horrified we were going to call him that when we told them after he was born. I still really like it - he has a very classic normal name.

NaToth · 09/01/2019 21:03

Waldemar
Parthenope - I love this, but has it ever been used other than for Florence Nightingale's sister?
Ania - nearly got this one past DP.
Rhiannon - rejected by DP for being "too Welsh"
Meurig - ditto

Warwick. However all is not lost if this baby I am carrying comes out as a boy...

Bathsheba. One of mine and DH’s first dates was to see “Far from the madding crowd” and I just ruddy love it x

Snowflake01 · 09/01/2019 21:08

Lazarus. I loved it, but I decided against it. Ds does have an unusual name, but it's a lot less dramatic sounding Grin

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 09/01/2019 21:10

C0untDucku1a · 09/01/2019 21:12

Lucian and Logan were names dh wanted. We like werewolves Grin

I suggested an archangel name like Raphael, Gabriel, Uriel. Dh agreed with the concept and suggested metatron Hmm

waterplease · 09/01/2019 21:14

I really love Atlas but afraid it's too out there 😳 and I love Winter as a PP said!

DareDevil223 · 09/01/2019 21:23

Dashiell. Dashiell Hammett is one of my favourite writers and DS has the same birthday. Didn't do it though, 24 years on I still kind of wish I'd done it.

Hogtini · 09/01/2019 21:28

River
Florian
Valentina
Athena
Nico

MrsRolly · 09/01/2019 21:29

girlandboy · 09/01/2019 21:30

girlandboy · 09/01/2019 21:31

I always liked Serenity for a girl, but I wasn't brave enough.

My husband wanted to call our son Flash at one point. We went for Maverick in the end and both love his name and it suits him fantastically. No 2 if another boy will be Merlin unless we have a major change of heart. we struggle to agree on names but both love this one. I Also love Ace, Loki, Phoenix, Fox & Roux for a future DS/DD

MilesHuntsWig · 09/01/2019 21:58

Bellatrix

J K Rowling vetoed that one for us...

NameChange30 · 09/01/2019 22:01

@girlandboy
Yay! Yes it is Smile
Is your DH Jewish btw?
We're not Jewish and I wonder if people will think he is (not that it would be an issue if they did).

c0unt
LOL at Metatron 😂

girlandboy · 09/01/2019 22:09

@NameChange30 No he's not Jewish. His mum saw the name on some film credits apparently and took it from there!
My Saul has never met anyone with the same name, only a labrador!

And it was only my mother who has ever asked if he was Jewish 🙄

NameChange30 · 09/01/2019 22:15

Oops sorry I've just made that two people then Blush Grin

Kat70 · 09/01/2019 22:23

@girlandboy my nephew is called Saul. Great name.
