I love the name Winter but I feel it's a bit more "out there" than Summer or Autumn so I'm not brave enough to use it Blush Plus it would sound awful in the country I live in.

I also love Rocco but that was vetoed by DH!

What unusual baby names were you not quite brave enough to use?

I really liked Peppa/Pepper when I was pg with DS2.

DH humoured me for a bit but luckily for him we found out at a scan that he was a boy.

Before we found out DD was a girl, I was petitioning hard for Cornelius. It was still on my shortlist for DS but we went with something else in the end. I had to concede a little bit to dh!

NameChange30 · 10/01/2019 15:35

Holly Wood Grin

Parsley65 · 10/01/2019 15:46

Pagan & Christian for twins - had singles
Edric for a boy (shortened to Ed or Ricky) - DH hated it, luckily we had a DD!

Enko · 10/01/2019 16:07

Aida dh vetoed I still love it

IdentifyasTired · 10/01/2019 16:25

Clementine

It rhymes with our surname. Sigh.

Accountant222 · 10/01/2019 16:41

Alasdair, who ended up as Nicholas

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 10/01/2019 18:01

IdentifyasTired clementine it showed on the ‘I’m on’ section as clementineIt, I spent quite a while trying to work out how you pronounce that Hmm

KennDodd · 10/01/2019 18:07

Jezabel.

Its lovely but I just couldn't.

JuneFromBethesda · 10/01/2019 18:26

This is a fun thread Grin I love all the Ancient Greek names.

Another vote here for Octavia, but I just wasn’t brave enough and like a PP I couldn’t think what the nickname would be. Having said that we went with Ophelia instead and still haven’t figured out a good nickname for her 😄

Also Allegra and Araminta, but the latter was too jolly hockey sticks even for me and the nickname Minty is awful!

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 10/01/2019 19:03

Draco

GrumpySausage · 10/01/2019 19:10

Heath. My mu did this face Confused when we mentioned it so that was a no.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/01/2019 19:12

Sheherazade

Mudmonster · 10/01/2019 19:18

DH wanted to call ds1 & 2 Zeus and Thor Hmm I put my foot down and they have normal classic names.
DD has an unusual name however.

NameChange30 · 10/01/2019 19:54

I know (or know of) children with these names on the thread:
Astrid
Cosmo
Edison
Inès
Rocco
Teddy
Tristan
Wolf

I seem to know more boys than girls with "out there" names!

Grinchly · 10/01/2019 20:04

Woah you can practically guess the postcodes of some of these! Grin
Some are interesting but others will surely become the Gladys- Bertha - Beryl / Carol Karen Tracey Denise Sharon - Kimberley Wendy people of the late 21 st c.
I love traditional names, so the only out there ones that might have been vetoed was Robin for a boy and Sydney for a girl ( I am a Mitford fan)

helzapoppin2 · 10/01/2019 20:06

Orlando, but now the boy’s grown up, I can see it wouldn’t have suited him one bit!

Grinchly · 10/01/2019 20:09

Other actual ones I had to desperately arrange my face for when announced were:

Rock
Wilbur.

Confused
VenusClapTrap · 10/01/2019 20:23

Anemone and Narcissa.

Fortunately for dd the Baby Names board on here talked sense into me.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/01/2019 20:31

I wanted Jaina for a girl, my fav world of warcraft character. Luckiky we had a boy.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/01/2019 20:33

@Grinchly Wilbur was the pig in Charlottes web right?

MrsReader · 10/01/2019 20:36

Perdita for a girl 😂

YoureAMeanOneMrGrinch · 10/01/2019 20:40

@catsanddoors your surname is my maiden name. My brother was born on 26th December and my mum said if he had been a girl she would've liked to of gone Christmas themed and called him Holly but couldn't with that surname!

we almost called our son Woody as an ode to our surname
