I love the name Winter but I feel it's a bit more "out there" than Summer or Autumn so I'm not brave enough to use it Blush Plus it would sound awful in the country I live in.

I also love Rocco but that was vetoed by DH!

What unusual baby names were you not quite brave enough to use?

I wanted to name the third boy Demitri. It went well with the first two boys who have strong names, turned out to be a girl.

I love the name River for a girl, also Quinn. Not sure if brave enough!

Grinchly · 10/01/2019 21:31

@livingdeadgirluk
Dunno
Terrible whatever !

BippityBoppity87 · 10/01/2019 21:47

I love the name Winter. I don't think it's too out there at all. Winnie is a cute nickname imo.

Ottilie
Atticus

Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

BippityBoppity87 · 10/01/2019 21:47

I like River too.

zwellers · 10/01/2019 23:25

Harebellmeadow · 10/01/2019 23:41

Who was Agravaine?

ladyglittersparkle · 10/01/2019 23:43

Aurora

Another vote here for Octavia, but I just wasn’t brave enough and like a PP

It's interesting that a few people have mentioned they weren't brave enough to use Octavia as I went to school with one in the 80s and always thought of it as a perfectly normal (lovely) name, no different to Melissa or Jessica in terms of ununsualness.

In fact, most of our DC's contemporaries would have found these brave names perfectly fine - it's probably just the other parents that would judge!

I really wanted to give my last DC, a girl, the name River. It’s so beautiful. But every time I said it With our surname, it sounded like I was saying the name of an actual river. I also really wanted her to be called Rain but we went with it was a middle name. I wasn’t quite brave enough. The name we went with really suits her though.

My middle girl has a quite out there name - but given the lists of some PPs are so similar to my lists, I bet they would know it/ have liked it!

KennDodd · 11/01/2019 18:18

I have an Octavia, it's not that daring is it?

Juanbablo · 11/01/2019 18:19

Hero. Husband said no. Our surname starts with an H and he also said it was a ridiculous name. I still love it.

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 11/01/2019 18:21

Jessa. I love it and I think it’s got legs, but in the end we decided it was too nicknamy. Still love it though.

RedCrab · 11/01/2019 18:22

Juanbablo my DD is Hero. It is an actual really bonafide name Grin

She is nearly four, sassy and wonderful, with a hair of big curls, and it suits her down to the ground. So pleased we dared go with it - though my mum hated it at first.

RedCrab · 11/01/2019 18:24

Phoenix was also on my list for DD2. Clearly we’re all kindred spirits on this thread!

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 11/01/2019 18:28

I wanted to call my DS, now 4, Blue. But my DP is so bloody conservative and I thought people would say I was copying Beyoncé! Confused Yes, I know how it sounds!
