I love the name Winter but I feel it's a bit more "out there" than Summer or Autumn so I'm not brave enough to use it Blush Plus it would sound awful in the country I live in.

I also love Rocco but that was vetoed by DH!

What unusual baby names were you not quite brave enough to use?

I love the name Ariadne but it just didn't feel right for my little girl in the end.

I love it too Grin

UrsulaPandress · 09/01/2019 18:18

October.

Read a book about a girl called October who kept a palomino horse on a houseboat.

Dd was due in September.

She ended up born in October so I could have done it.

Levrette is French for doggy-style, so a narrow escape for baby
Girlflieshome there... can you imagine the school trips? Grin

We wanted Caledonia for a girl (Callie for short). Only decided against it as someone we know picked a v similar shortened version a couple of months prior.

London or Camden for a boy, although we didn’t have a DS so it could have been on the table...

AgathaMisty · 09/01/2019 18:26

Ooh yes, Blue. That's one I love but I imagine quite a few Hmm

My (usually quite sensible) DH desperately wanted to call our DS Bear. I thought he was joking, but no, he really really wanted to do it. DS now has Bear as a nickname, but his actual name is a bit more reasonable Grin

Io for a girl like the moon of Jupiter, but I didn't have a girl.

Frogletmamma · 09/01/2019 18:52

We told everyone we were calling dc quexocoatl. Some people believed us too

WeCameToDance · 09/01/2019 19:12

For a boy
Atticus (I love this so much!)
Atlas, although I would have never been brave enough.
Bodhi, I love it but hate the way its spelt.

Girl
Dahlia. Dh veteod it. I still love it and may try to convince him again if we have any more children.
Avery, dd was very nearly an Avery. Too much watching lego Jurassic world put a stop to that. I kept hearing 'we have to get the aviary repeared fast'. Too similar, had to change it!

Aridane · 09/01/2019 19:14

@MrsAridane - I got accused of a name change fail on a thread where you were posting!

CordeliaJay · 09/01/2019 19:17

ReaganSomerset my DD1 is called Cordelia, (nn Dilly) and our second choice was Juniper. Great minds eh!

MrsSup · 09/01/2019 19:21

Loveday (vetoed by DH)
Liberty (ok'ed by DH, but no girl babies)
Valentine (DH absolutely horrified)

Both the names we did use have been mentioned on this thread - must have been braver than I thought!

NameChange30 · 09/01/2019 19:25

There are some truly awful names on this thread Grin
Some nice ones too... but for the children's sake I'm glad most of the names ended up on the reject pile!

Kat70 · 09/01/2019 19:27

I just went for it and named my dd Skye-Blue. Had only positive comments about it and she's 12 now!

whatswithtodaytoday · 09/01/2019 19:38

My bump is called Balthazar Grin We both love the name but don't like any nicknames, and also don't feel we can do that to our child.

I do like an unusual name though. Some from my list were:

Esmeralda
Demelza
Xanthe
Arrietty
Araminta

Inigo
Aslan

Annoyingly we're having a boy, and my partner has vetoed those two. Any suggestions welcome!

rallytog1 · 09/01/2019 19:40

Margaret/Maggie

We both have families of staunch labour supporters so it was never going to fly Grin

WobbleTime · 09/01/2019 19:50

Topaz - everyone hates it, I still love it
Margaux
Rupert
Munro
DH vetoed Rupert and wanted Margaux and Munro.
We have none of the above
