I love the name Winter but I feel it's a bit more "out there" than Summer or Autumn so I'm not brave enough to use it Blush Plus it would sound awful in the country I live in.

I also love Rocco but that was vetoed by DH!

What unusual baby names were you not quite brave enough to use?

Balthazar is the name I wasn’t brave enough to use, dh would have vetoed it anyway.
Others that he vetoed: Rosalie, Nathaniel, Romily.

My ds does have an unusual name for the UK.

NameChange30 · 09/01/2019 16:41

Which name did you choose in the end btw? As we must have similar taste!

NameChange30 · 09/01/2019 16:41

Sorry that was to @Thurlow

Anjanka/Anjanka. Really love it, but just wasn't brave enough.

RussellSprout · 09/01/2019 16:44

I love Queenie but it's probably better suited to a cat.

Thurlow · 09/01/2019 16:44

@NameChange, failing any agreement on any other name, DP somehow twisted my arm into his family name Douglas - at least DS has grown into Dougie Grin

Thurlow · 09/01/2019 16:44

Oh, and I wanted Saul after Battlestar Galactica!

ScienceIsTruth · 09/01/2019 16:46

Oops. Was meant to say Anyanka or Anjanka, but autocorrect doesn't like it spelt with a 'y'.

shecamefromgreece · 09/01/2019 16:48

I used Rocco.Grin

I loved Fox but Dh said no. I only wanted it as middle name but it was flat no!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 09/01/2019 16:51

Saxony or Josephine for DD and if she had been a boy Alexander
ExH said absolutely not and she got a name that's shortened to the short version of one of the ones I loved so I guess it doesn't matter....especially as it was 27 years ago now lol

BillyAndTheSillies · 09/01/2019 16:51

Cosmo or Xavier for a boy. But we live in East London/Essex and DH took to shouting "zaaaavvvyyyaaaaaaahhhhh" whenever I brought it up to put me off as that's how most people here would pronounce it.
We are TTC number 2 and will probably go for Eden or Ernest if it's a boy. Our DS has a very unusual name so would be curious to see if it pops up on anyone's brave list.

Girl names I love are Persephone and Clementine. But the spelling vs pronunciation of Persephone puts me off.

RandomWok · 09/01/2019 16:52

Octavia! Still love it husband said no.

BlythesEyes · 09/01/2019 16:52

I wanted Felix...DH said 'NO son of mine will be called after cat food!'

BikeRunSki · 09/01/2019 16:53

Isambard

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 09/01/2019 16:55

I wanted Felix for DD1 which DH vetoed, but she got a boys name anyway. All DC have unusual names, with DC3's name (the most common) appearing less than a dozen times in the names lists since 1996. The names do take bit of living up to (especially combined with a double-barrelled surname) but only one has ever tried to establish their middle name as common usage (which didn't work).

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 09/01/2019 16:59

I wanted Caspian for a boy but DH vetoed it in disgust!

bellajay · 09/01/2019 17:03

Walt. We both liked it but it felt too closely associated with Walt Disney!

WhirlieGigg · 09/01/2019 17:04

I was desperate to call DS either Wolf or Logan as a nod to Wolverine, or Indiana after Dr Jones. All vetoed by DH and we ended up agreeing on a really boring classic boys name along the lines of William Edward etc.

bellajay · 09/01/2019 17:05

Incidentally the name we ended up using is actually a lot more unusual than we thought it was, people have commented on it a lot bit only MIL has actually suggested she doesn’t like it Grin

AgathaMisty · 09/01/2019 17:06

I used Rocco.

Good for you! I'd love to use it.

I loved Fox but Dh said no. I only wanted it as middle name but it was flat no!

I'm also a fan of Fox. Damn those pesky DHs vetoing all our good names! They're far too sensible for my liking.

I don't know where I got it from but used to like Atlas for a boy and Atlanta for a girl also like Jared but DH didn't like any of them so ended up with two fairly common names for both.

Vicious2018 · 09/01/2019 17:10

Gemini or Mirage for a girl. Dh wasn't impressed.

Joinourclub · 09/01/2019 17:11

Ariadne
Clementine
Gabriel
Fox

boatyardblues · 09/01/2019 17:12

Inez (Spanish for Agnes). DH had a loathesome former male colleague called Innes (pronounced the same) and said it brought him to mind every time I said it. We had boys in the end, so I never had the chance to use it.

NameChange30 · 09/01/2019 17:13

Thurlow
Dougie is cute Smile
I'd heard of Battlestar Galactica but never seen it I'm afraid! The Sauls we came across were in Homeland, Breaking Bad and of course Better Call Saul! Apparently Slash's real name is Saul (although we're not particular Guns n Roses fans!)
