I love the name Winter but I feel it's a bit more "out there" than Summer or Autumn so I'm not brave enough to use it Blush Plus it would sound awful in the country I live in.

I also love Rocco but that was vetoed by DH!

What unusual baby names were you not quite brave enough to use?

Leveret for a girl.I still like it.

DH wanted Toby. But it rhymes with our surname exactly so I vetoed it strongly.

BroomstickOfLove · 09/01/2019 17:24

Both DC have pretty unusual names.

DP vetoed Sovay, Loveday and Allegra for DD, but her actual name is more obscure than those.

We also didn't call DS Constantine or Clovis. DP came home a bit drunk one night when I was pregnant and woke me up to tell me that we should call the baby Ozymandias, but I'm pretty sure he was joking.

They would have been Caspar and Ginevra if they'd been born the other way around.

AgathaMisty · 09/01/2019 17:27

I don't know where I got it from but used to like Atlas for a boy and Atlanta for a girl

They are both on my "not brave enough" list too!

Inez (Spanish for Agnes)

Just FYI, in Spanish it is spelt Ines.

Everyone I've ever asked has hated the name Tiffany. I absolutely love it and can't understand the bad feeling towards it. I'd have happily called my dd Tiffany but didn't want her and me judged.

AgathaMisty · 09/01/2019 17:30

There are some lovely names here!

When I was pregnant with number 2 I saw the name 'Augusta Brittania' on a stone in an old cemetery. Fortunately for the baby he was a boy! That said my daughter is incredibly theatrical by nature and would have carried it off with no problem.

TaMereAPoilDevantPrisu · 09/01/2019 17:33

Yorick for a boy and Sebastienne for a girl. Sanity prevailed.

ParadiseLaundry · 09/01/2019 17:42

@GirlFliesHome

Leveret as in a baby hare? Not judging though, it sounds cute. some people get really snotty about names on here!

There are some lovely names on this thread! I am after my some to my baby name list, I hope I'm brave enough to use one!

CaptainCallisto · 09/01/2019 17:47

Caspian for a boy. DH almost went for it, but chickened out and vetoed it at the end.

Jadzia was my favourite for a girl and I think we'd have gone for it but we had two boys Grin

RedCrab · 09/01/2019 17:50

Winter
December
Lux
Blue

Not so much not used but just didn’t fit. But I loved them anyway. Our 3 DC have very unusual names so also curious to see if they pop up.

RedCrab · 09/01/2019 17:51

CaptainCallisto, my husband campaigned HEAVILY for Jadzia but I’d completely forgotten until I just saw your post Grin

missesschmisses · 09/01/2019 17:53

I love loads of these names

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 09/01/2019 17:54

I was madly in love with Dmitri for a boy but it was resoundingly vetoed. In my pregnancy haze I was very cross with DP for not being of Russian descent so I could legitimately use it Blush.

I love love love Elin for a girl but again that was vetoed. If I’d ever had a girl I’d have fought hard for it.

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 09/01/2019 17:55

Mine would have been Elise if I'd had a girl.

He's a boy - I liked Silas, Seth and Gawain. No DH to veto!

I vetoed myself. He's called Simon. Bit of a difference Grin

CaptainCallisto · 09/01/2019 17:56

RedCrab he has good taste Grin

bakebakebake · 09/01/2019 18:01

Forrest
August
Phoenix
Jasper

We went with Felix in the end but i can totally see him as a Jasper. My mum has actually called him it by accident - without knowing i had wanted it!

Harebellmeadow · 09/01/2019 18:02

Hellebore, but thats not really a name actually. 😔

EleanorLavish · 09/01/2019 18:02

I really wanted Bosco for a boy. I'm Irish.Blush

RadishCue · 09/01/2019 18:03

My name is on here several times!

HighlandWorrier · 09/01/2019 18:07

Nice one AgathaMisty it's great to hear someone else likes those names too Smile

AnnDerry · 09/01/2019 18:11

My DC2's name is on here, as is the boy's name we'd chosen (DC2 is a girl) so I guess we're quite brave. Or stupid.

User758172 · 09/01/2019 18:12

Ariadne.
And Hercule for a boy.
