Self-care every day 2019

Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR Thanks

I've not made a resolution as such but I am going to do more for myself in the form of self-care. It doesn't have to be too much or for too long but I want to do something daily. I'd love for you all to try and join me.

Here's a list of some of the things I've got on my list:

Read a chapter of what ever book I'm reading.
Bubble bath.
Meditation.
Walk.
Lunch by myself.
Cup of tea in peace.
Movie and candles.
Music hour.

That's just a few of mine. My aim is daily BUT I'm not going to over push myself where I get annoyed if I don't do it. I will try at least 5/10 days even if it's just a 5 minute meditation or a cup or tea in peace.

Who wants to join me? And what're your favourite ways of self-care?x

Hi all! It sounds like everyone had a lovely Sunday. Feeling lots of positive vibes from you all.

8 - I used to be an avid park runner but I stopped a while back, I really used to love it; that feeling of camaraderie. I am thinking of going back. DD is almost 4 months old and teething like crazy bless her. I love your open house policy, I want to be your friend!

Remus - that sounds like a lovely Sunday well spent. I love buying active wear, it spurs me on to get out and do it. I need a pair of trainers actually.

pineapple - I’m with you on the baby friendly galleries. I took my daughter to the Tate Modern last week and I spent hours in there.

honestly - kudos to you for the weight loss, i eases my way back into my diet last week but tomorrow I’m going for it full throttle.

My Sunday started off really well, we went to the park (they hold a very gentrified food market every week) and then we went to Columbia Road flower market and picked up dozens of tulips. We had lunch and then came home and watched a movie snuggled up. At 6pm my DD started crying hysterically and started to fit (or I thought). She was so distressed with colic and teething her breathing was crazy so I had to call 999. It was terrifying. She is absolutely fine but I’m still a snivelling wreck.

mumof2sarah · 20/01/2019 22:47

@Didsomeonesaybunny that sounds absolutely awful, I'm so glad she's ok. Sending you both do much love and light, here's to a new week with nothing but good and love in it xxxx

Hey all,

Hope everyone has had a decent Monday. I took my DD to meet a colleague today over a coffee and salad which was nice then we came home to hunker down, I’m still quite shaky after yesterday so wanted the afternoon and evening at home.

Sorted out a rough meal/diet plan for the next month which has helped my mood, feel like I’m getting back in control of things. Poached pear topped with yoghurt and honey for dessert, such a small thing but will make me smile for sure!

mumof2sarah · 21/01/2019 21:15

How is she now @Didsomeonesaybunny ? I hope lots better. I've had a me day today, I've just concentrated on me, relaxed, watched films, started a new (old) tv series on Netflix and caught up on breathing. I've just got in bed now to hopefully gets good nights sleep. Have a lovely evening and Tuesday everyone x

My plan for self care today was going to be a bath tonight and some meditating, instead, because it's been snowing (not enough to stick but still so beautiful coming down) I've spent the morning wrapped up warm with a hot drink and some biscuits watching the snow flutter down. I love watching it and today it's been so so pretty. Hope you all have a wonderful day lots of love xx

OP posts:
Didsomeonesaybunny · 22/01/2019 21:55

Thank you mum she is much better but gosh it gave me a bloody fright!

Oh I love the snow, I’m very jealous. Not sure if there’s any scheduled for London. It is freezing here though.

Today I spent far too much shopping for homeware to make my house a home. I’m excited for it all to be delivered now.

Diet still going really well and was even able to have a small bowl of fruit and yoghurt and a hob nob. It’s the little things. OH is home now so a cwtch in front of the fire Watching some Netflix is on the cards. Aww I feel so happy today. Sending happy vibes to you all

mumof2sarah · 23/01/2019 06:16

So glad everything's ok @Didsomeonesaybunny it is so frightening with children: I love your post :) so glad to see the happiness shining through.

I've got my CBT today but again I'm not looking forward to it. I've come on so I'm in agony and I'm completely exhausted. Tonight is going to be all about resting and a very early night in the hope it boosts me a bit x

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/01/2019 20:06

So glad she's okay, Didsome.

Nothing to report here - I've had some baths and read some books but that's all.

Hope you feel better v soon, Sarah.

mumof2sarah · 23/01/2019 21:07

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie those baths and books are all perfect and if it's giving that self care that's all that matters my lovely :)

I've ended up emotionally drained, feeling sorry for myself, selfish mood and a headache after CBT so I've come home and sorted the girls out etc and now I'm about to have a very early night in the hope i get some sleep, that's the best self care for me atm I think x

OP posts:
Didsomeonesaybunny · 23/01/2019 22:33

Thank you both, she’s ok now but I am a little more anxious and keep checking her every 5 minutes.

mum - hope your cramps have dissipated, hope you have a hot water bottle and have managed an early night. You’re doing such an amazing job, don’t be down on yourself.

remus - I need to get my head back into books - I may begin this evening with a cup of tea (child currently battling sleep so I’m waiting for her drop off).

I’ve had a busy day of errands today and feel like I haven’t really stopped but, I did treat myself to a new coat in blush pink and also a new blazer to go with black skinny’s. I’ve got a girls night coming up so I wanted to buy something new. I really shouldn’t be buying anything I’m on bloody maternity leave and soon my salary is going to drop off eek! I also got my DD a cute little dress which actually brought me the most joy today.

1 year ago today I found out I was pregnant, it was also the day my ex left so a bit bittersweet really but I know it’s all for the best.

mumof2sarah · 25/01/2019 07:33

Morning all, yesterday was a down day for me with my stomach and tiredness/general not feeling well so I actually spent most of the day on the sofa under a blanket, I'd say self care in itself there because I knew if id have been up and about I'd have made myself worse. Today I'm taking the girls to school then I may go and have a wander round some shops locally or have a sit in a cafè for an hour then I'm going to get home have the afternoon to do some tidying and the evening to do exactly the same as yesterday not move from the couch. Sometimes it's what I need to just feel human again slightly.

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend and I hope it's filled with self-care and plenty of love xx

Hi all, can I join in? Love this thread, and love the idea of music hour, I’m going to try this. I’m making time for self care as a way to help bolster against the pain of chronic migraines. I’m a huge fan of the guided meditations on Meditainment.com - they are so soothing and a real crutch for me. Thoroughly recommend. And candle making

mumof2sarah · 25/01/2019 09:17

Hi @inthekitchensink and welcome aboard my lovely. Thank you for your tips on the meditation site I will have a look at that. Self care is so important and does the world of good. Sending lots of healing thoughts for the migraines xx

Hey ladies and welcome inthekitchen

mum - really hope you love are feeling a little better, you definitely need some R&R so I hope you’re managing some.

inthekitchen - I really love music and discovering new bands. Have a young baby at the moment so haven’t been listening to as much music but hoping to change that. Discovered a band called Haux yesterday - really lovely melodies.

I had low self care yesterday (although I did buy ANOTHER dress). Today I’ve been to the dentist (Oh the joys) and have run a myriad of errands so I’m feeling quite accomplished. Also needed new pots and pans so ordered some and will have a quiet night in tonight. Tired from all the running around today.

Have a lovely weekend all!

mumof2sarah · 26/01/2019 14:24

Happy Saturday everyone.

Question time...

*If you had one hour for self-care right now what would it be?x
*
Mine would be a hot bubble bath with a book, a brew and some chocolates in peace.

Hope you all have a wonderful day xx

Hello all :)
Done a parkrun and went for a swim pretty much straight after. By 12 I’d already done the 10,000 for today.

I’ve been pretty good on the self care front this week, didn’t get the chance to update much, but I’m quite pleased :) Just little things. The main one being I’ve made some progress with counselling this week, it’s given me a real booster.

I’ve got an hour to myself right now, I’m just chilling, to answer your question, Sarah :)BrewCake

mumof2sarah · 26/01/2019 15:24

@8FencingWire sounds like you've had a wonderfully productive morning. I'm having half hour relaxing before I get some stuff sorted too. Enjoy your hour xxx

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/01/2019 15:43

Hi all.

Definitely a book and bath - or a massage if I'd been organised enough to book it!

inthekitchensink · 27/01/2019 12:47

Sit in an old old pub by a log fire, with my book & a big glass of red wine. And that’s what I’m going to do!

mumof2sarah · 27/01/2019 13:54

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie that sounds like perfection :) xx

@inthekitchensink I love that (apart from the red wine lol) enjoy xx

*Happy Sunday everyone.
*
Im about to snuggle down and maybe nap for half hour after a busy morning xx

8FencingWire · 28/01/2019 21:30

I looked after myself today: I went to M&S and bought two cakes 😂.
Hope you’re all doing alright x

Didsomeonesaybunny · 28/01/2019 22:23

Hey everyone. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend? My OH surprised me and took me for a lovely dinner and drinks Saturday night and because I’ve been so exhausted with the baby not sleeping he let me lie in on Sunday and brought me breakfast in bed. Very spoilt!

My self care today was 40 mins of yoga and then an hour this evening reading up on the Italian Renaissance and admiring some paintings and sculptures in my new book. Have art class tomorrow so thought I should read up a little.

mumof2sarah · 29/01/2019 14:07

@8FencingWire I think that's my favourite self care upto date ha ha. I hope you enjoyed them xx

@Didsomeonesaybunny gold star for your OH that sounds so lovely and just what you needed xx

I've spent the day under a throw still feeling a bit blah but ok. I've watched cold feet and drank tea, ate biscuits. I'm going to pick my babies up soon and back home to make some tea and maybe have a film night it's cold here and we're expecting snow later on so want to snuggle right down before it hits. Lots of love to you all x

OP posts:
Didsomeonesaybunny · 29/01/2019 21:35

fencing - tell all about the cakes, what ones? Currently dieting so love hearing about what everyone else is having.

mum - hope you managed to settle down with a film this evening and have been able to chill out.

Pretty low on the self care today tbh bit I’ve just come back from art class and really enjoyed learning new techniques (although I’m still really shit ha!). I’m waiting for my baby to fall asleep so I can delve more into the Renaissance (I’ve become a bit obsessed with art lately).

8FencingWire · 30/01/2019 07:13

M&S passion fruit and coffee and walnut. As you do.
Will update tonight, busy day ahead :) x
