Who’s the nicest celebrity you’ve met....

Got some inspiration from another thread, so I wanna know who’s the nicest celebrity you’ve met, either at a convention, gig, anywhere really.

Mine had to be Austin Nichols, met him at walker stalker this year, he was genuinely the nicest person, he may have been acting but I don’t even care as he made me feel at ease even though I was terribly nervous. He actually spent about 5 minutes talking to me.

Windsor Davies used to live my why when I was younger so used to bump into him every now and then. Dead nice!

I’ve worked around F1 in the past so met lots of drivers. Lewis Hamilton is an absolute sweetheart and incredibly lovely. Always has lots of time for fans, especially kids. Interestingly Jenson was always a massive PITA who would do the bare contractual minimum and ignore fans unless a camera was on him. It’s a bit of a surprise, given their relative press reputations which shows how the media define our perceptions I suppose.

That's good to hear as we sometimes think he comes across as quite arrogant.

GraduationDilemma · 29/12/2018 19:06

@todayiwin maybe that was a contributing factor. Grin

Mike Read the radio DJ. A very pleasant and polite man, warm and friendly. It was really odd listening in person to such a familiar voice.

Met Richard Ashcroft a few times too (The Verve). A very shy and quiet man, very lean and lanky. His wife is absolutely gorgeous - very warm, bubbly and just has that "something" about her. I was more star struck by her, to be honest Grin

Angelinthenight · 29/12/2018 19:17

Ant & Dec and boyzone esp Mikey he was lovely also a not so famous the carter twins.

sparklyllama · 29/12/2018 19:19

LindaLa ooh do tell us more about the Red Hot Chilli Peppers; what was wrong with Anthony; and was John Frusciante with them at the time? Smile

Allabitmuchisntit · 29/12/2018 19:31

Huw Edwards. We were quietly say watching him filming on our local pier and he came over to chat to us. Lovely bloke.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 29/12/2018 19:34

Gary Barlow. Stood in the snow and howling wind late at night without a jacket on to spend time with a few —stalkers—fans which may or may not have included me

WendyCope · 29/12/2018 19:34

Bob Geldof gave me a lift in a Leer jet when I was stranded in Nice due to a BA strike. He was lovely and arranged for a transfer to my door.

BikeRunSki · 29/12/2018 19:53

@WendyCope wins the thread! Shock

HoobaHooba · 29/12/2018 19:59

Tony Blair. Remembered my DD and a particular fact about her from a previous (brief) meeting. Declan Donnelly was a laugh but not so much Ant.
Not wonderful - Bobby Robson.

LindaLa · 29/12/2018 20:03

@sparklyllama

He was very arrogant. "I'm the face, I'm the front, no point in talking to anyone else in MY band" sort of thing

Flea, however, adorable. Just adorable.

No john frusciante (unfortunately)

Penninepain · 29/12/2018 20:06

Not a sleb, but I spent a three hour train jpurney sat next to Tony Benn.
I was an impoverished student at the time and he bought me a ham sandwich and coke from on board catering.
He was lovely. Nearly turned me from Liberal to Labour 😂

MiddlingMum · 29/12/2018 20:25

David Attenborough. As delightful in real life as he is on the television.

BaconPringles · 29/12/2018 20:31

Lady Gaga 💕 beautiful soul

BikeRunSki · 29/12/2018 20:31

@MiddlingMum not envious at all! not Envy

MrsFezziwig · 29/12/2018 20:35

Thanks LindaLa! So no need to review my laminated list of Alan Rickman (hands off SilverySurfer), David Tennant and Bill Nighy.

Hobbes8 · 29/12/2018 20:52

I’ve never really gone up to a famous person because I wouldn’t know what to say. But I happened to be in a long queue with Norman Cook queuing directly behind me. Loads of people came up to talk to him, and he was so nice and friendly to all of them (even the pretty weird ones). I was so impressed with his niceness - I was pretty irritated after an hour of him being recognised, and he must get this all the time!

HalleLouja · 29/12/2018 21:14

I know people who knew Lewis when he was younger and have heard the complete opposite. Maybe he’s grown up since.

KingLooieCatz · 29/12/2018 21:43

Just remembered I saw Alan Davies and he seemed nice as well. We were in the same audience with him at Edinburgh Fringe show. He was with his family. Queued up with everyone else to get in. He and his family watched the same street performers as us after the show and he posed with someone who asked for a selfie, pretty decent as he was out with his kids, not "on duty".

lurker101 · 29/12/2018 22:06

Idris Elba, met him recently and he was so friendly and seemed very genuine

lightlypoached · 29/12/2018 22:15

@thighofrelief101 I think we must be neighbours Grin

Butterfly005 · 29/12/2018 22:16

Several years ago we met Joanna Lumley at church on Christmas Day. She was very friendly and took the time to talk to us, as my family were fans - especially my grandfather who was delighted when she kissed his cheek!
