Who’s the nicest celebrity you’ve met....

Got some inspiration from another thread, so I wanna know who’s the nicest celebrity you’ve met, either at a convention, gig, anywhere really.

Mine had to be Austin Nichols, met him at walker stalker this year, he was genuinely the nicest person, he may have been acting but I don’t even care as he made me feel at ease even though I was terribly nervous. He actually spent about 5 minutes talking to me.

I can categorically confirm that Robert Carlyle is shy, humble and a wonderful human.

As is Mark Rylance. Made a tit of myself and he was loveliness personified. Grin

DraculaAD1972 · 29/12/2018 00:09

Bradley Walsh. Absolutely great company! Really down to earth and naturally funny.

Gotstuckwiththisname · 29/12/2018 00:09

Suzanne Dando was lovely.

MyPoodleisWorthTenofYou · 29/12/2018 00:11

My DP got mistaken for Jude Law in a northern country pub last night (he denied being famous obviously but the bloke had had a few and wouldn’t have it 😂) and his girlfriend told him he came across as really unpretentious and lovely 😂

They ignored me 🤔

Sophia Loren. I was working and she was getting prep to present an award and I brought her a coffee and had a little chat. She was lovely. Way different than Luciano Pavarotti who treated me like dirt.
Also an Italian singer called Jovanotti . Met him 30 years ago when we were both working in the same club. He was a DJ and singer. He wasn’t as famous then but I don’t think he changed much.

Oh, and Alastair Stewart insisted on holding my fractious, overtired, refluxing 15w ds for me while I tried to sort myself out having spilled my drink on myself while waiting in the lobby for a friend who worked at ITN. I came out of the Ladies and ds was fast asleep in his arms, and Alastair Stewart was showing him off to Jon Snow, who was not in the least bit interested Grin

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 29/12/2018 00:16

George Best (as I mentioned on the other thread) down to earth, shy, friendly, polite, bloody lovely.
Orlando Bloom is just very very normal.
Monsignor Bruce Kent (for those old CNDers from the 80s) Had pie and chips with him in a student pub after a debate. Very down to earth.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 29/12/2018 00:17

Dawn French, Anthony Head, Patrick Stewart, Richard Attenborough and H from Steps.

AornisHades · 29/12/2018 00:17

John Finnemore was utterly splendid to my autistic dd when we met him.

TokyoSushi · 29/12/2018 00:18

Naga from bbc breakfast, really really nice. Jeremy Paxman, lovely.

I have met many horrific ones too, I worked in a 5 star hotel for many years

Defender90 · 29/12/2018 00:18

The Proclaimers. Met them in the lift at family wedding, they were performing near by. I seen them, recognised them, so autopilot assumed they were family, yapping away!

Later they took the newlyweds on stage for photos. Lovely pair of guys.

Stephisaur · 29/12/2018 00:19

Brandon Routh.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I had a tiny crush on him when he played superman. DH and I went to a comic convention where he was appearing alongside some of the Gotham/Arrow/Flash cast and we paid for the exclusive meet and greet. He was amazing. I asked him a question and he looked at me when replying and seemed really, genuinely interested in everyone who was in the room.

We met Jason Mamoa at the same event. He was also lovely, but got steadily more drunk as the weekend went on. It was hilarious, particularly during Q&A sessions.

OneInAMillionYou · 29/12/2018 00:20

Roger Federer, on a few occasions. Delightful, funny, charming and interested in everyone around him. Not starry at all.

Djokovic on the other hand.... Couldn't be more different 🙄

chocolatepluswine · 29/12/2018 00:25

Anthony Head was utterly charming, and so was Bill Nighy.

Can't say enough nice things about Juliet Stevenson. She was lovely at stage door, even though it was after a double bill day and she was ill.

NotToday1601 · 29/12/2018 00:31

Butch Harmon (Tiger Woods' former coach).
My husband and I were flying back from Las Vegas on standby business class. We got seats but not together. I ended up sat next to Butch who was was really friendly, when he realised I had been separated from my husband he insisted on swapping seats, even though it meant his new seat was at the back next to the loos!

A really lovely man.

cleanasawhistle · 29/12/2018 00:37

Great to hear Martin Clunes is lovely...my favourite actor.

I met Denise Welch...very friendly.

evilharpy · 29/12/2018 00:37

I want to know if Dwayne Johnson is as nice in real life as he comes across in interviews/Instagram.

WellGoshDarnIt · 29/12/2018 00:55

Bryan Adams - total gent
Bill Nighy is possibly the nicest man alive.
Matthew Wright is a sweetheart - don't believe all the hate for him!

todayiwin · 29/12/2018 02:05

Rik Mayall

2x occasions I met him, he was genuinely incredible both times

MrsTerryPratcett · 29/12/2018 02:10

Jeremy Irons, many years ago when he was at the Royal Shakespeare theatre playing 2 leads. I was an English uni student, and spotted him at a petrol station after watching his performance as King in Winters Tale. He was incredibly kind, though must have been very tired; asked my opinion on his (superb) performance, chatted for about 5 minutes, gave me his autograph (I was pretty star struck.) lovely man.

pineapplebryanbrown · 29/12/2018 02:42

Trevor McDonald is very charming and lovely, i see him around locally all the time.

ABoozedMoose · 29/12/2018 03:30

Another one to say how lovely Mark Thomas is.

Also, Iain Banks (obviously this was a few years ago)

DappledThings · 29/12/2018 06:39

David Tennant. Years ago, at the height of his Doctor Who fame, he did a favour for his old friend Arabella Weir and did an appearance at a May Fair for the primary school she was on the PTA for.

My aunt was also on PTA and I went along to sell photos for signing. He was lovely to every single child he saw in 2 hours. Made conversation with all of them and stayed till the end, 30 minutes after advertised.
