To wonder about the ‘rift’ and Harry and wills

And the ‘rift’ not being between Kate and Meghan at all. I’m not a royalist at all, however quite like both Kate and Meghan (actually really like Meghan and thinks she doing a great job) and wonder whether the ‘rift’ is actually between wills and Harry caused by William reportly having said that Meghan wasn’t suitable, and Harry thinking wtf dB who are you to tell me what to do and just because you are my big brother you don’t get to tell me what to do, we’re not kids anymore,
And Harry stepping out from William shadow, developing his own interests, and confidence and wills not being that keen.

There's no reason to think there's a rift. Why do people want their to be one? What does it say about people?

FlibbertyGiblets · 26/12/2018 20:42

Omg what a load of bobbins. Give yer head a wobble.

Bottomplasters · 26/12/2018 20:42

I haven’t seen anything about a rift?

What papers do you read?

Yes OP the blind items are indicating it is a rift between the brothers but a rift between the wives is more PR friendly and less damaging to the idea of the monarchy.

SoyDora · 26/12/2018 20:45

How do you know there’s a rift? Do you know them?

2019Mummy · 26/12/2018 20:46

You can wonder. Others can think it's daft to wonder.

I suspect William is using the Royal family establishment to justify judgement of Harry and Harry isn't impressed.

HolyMountain · 26/12/2018 20:46

Is this the ‘rift’ chat made up by some papers after the ‘wedding’ chat died down?

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 26/12/2018 20:51

I’m minded to think it’s made up. But watching Meghan can be frustrating as she seems completely blind to how she comes across at times.

Iflyaway · 26/12/2018 20:53

Of course not.

Just starting a thread about a non-issue.

Are you a journalist?

Cranky17 · 26/12/2018 20:55

How do you know there’s a rift? Do you know them god no, I’d ask them straight out if i did.

What does it say about people? two things really, firstly I’m fairly bored, and strayed over to the daily mail, however allowed to start a thread on it an people are welcome to read, ignore, roll their eyes or comment.
and secondly I think looking at the brief, tiniest glimpse into their life, yes that snap shot of them walking into church it looked like the problem came from Wills and Harry and the misogynistic reporting that the rift is caused by Kate and Meghan is just another example of everyday sexism and it pisses me off a bit.

I just need to point out here really that I really like Meghan, I think she is a confident women and people don’t really like that. So they take side swipes at her because otherwise they would show themselves up for what they are.

These threads are so regular it is alarming. The press were so negative to Diana, then Kate and now Meghan. It is all misogynistic rubbish made up by the tabloids to sell papers to people who should really know better but I guess not.

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 26/12/2018 21:06

Hmm I’m not sure how I’m suddenly rascist...I don’t give a shit who Harry married, whether shes an “English Rose” or not. I missed the bit where I referenced the colour of her skin?

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 26/12/2018 21:09

The thing with Harry though, is he can’t step out of his brothers shadow, can he? He’s not likely to become king so I guess he’ll always be in his brothers shadow?

PortiaCastis · 26/12/2018 21:10

I think the so called rift is concoted by the media and people are very keen to believe it but unless anyone was actually close enough to hear an argument they're just being gossip mongers who actually wouldn't like a word said against themselves

Pinch of salt required

Cranky17 · 26/12/2018 21:15

Now clearly speculative and I’m a big gossip at heart and everyone is welcome to scroll past if they aren’t and I could well be projecting. But I think he had stepped out of his shadow and wills didn’t like it and he’s got the hump. You know the sibling relationship where the older sibling thinks they know everything and feel it’s their place to say.

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 26/12/2018 21:18

Yeah totally get that OP. And normally it would be ok, but I can kind of see Williams point of view. Like, he is LITERALLY topdog and will be the toppest dog (if we don’t overthrow the monarchy when the ghastly Charles takes the throne) in the commonwealth in a few decades time.

It must suck, like I’m a younger sibling and my sister is amazing at everything. But I can do things on my own and be her equal in other ways. That’s kind of hard when because you came second in the birth lottery you’ll never be equal?

BobbyBanana · 26/12/2018 21:19

How often do you 'watch' Meghan though? Or are you just consuming the angle the papers feed you?

How do you think they must feel for the whole fucking country to be saying they dislike each other? If that was you and your friend, don't you think that it would affect your friendship. It's a horrible way for the media to behave.

Sells papers / advertising clicks though doesn't it?

WipsGlitter · 26/12/2018 21:19

I think the "rift" rumour is based on something. However it's more normal for brothers in their 30s not to live in each other's pockets. I did think Kate looked at bit rictus jaw-ed in some of those Christmas photos.

If I was William I'd be a bit concerned my brother met, married and is expecting an baby with someone in quite such a short space of time.

For Meghan I think she was expecting it all to be a bit more glam and high profile but essentially she's down the pecking order and her child will be the equivalent of Eugenie / Beatrice who are the subject of constant ridicule which isn't anything to look forward to.

thebaronetofcockburn · 26/12/2018 21:19

Give over! There's probably no rift. Wills will be king, Kate's still young enough to have another kid or two (she's younger than Megan) and Harry will be even farther down the totem pole. Really no idea why we're still paying for Harry and his wife/sprogs/whatever because they have more than enough cash to keep themselves.

Dothehappydance · 26/12/2018 21:20

I am pretty certain that during their lives Harry and Wills have had many an argument and passed comments on each others choice of woman. Just seems a bit more juicy to describe it as a rift.

OnlineAlienator · 26/12/2018 21:20

I think the rift is all made up. As far as i can see they are just two couples getting on with their busy family lives. Its to sell papers/pictures.

Cranky17 · 26/12/2018 21:21

Yawn said Zebedee. Is it time for bed yet? i alway wonder why people post tat like this, either comment properly, you know have an opinion, YOU clicked, no one made you, and you took the time to write a snide remark, why not take the time to have a disscusion, or if your so above it, then scroll past. I don’t get it.
