To wonder about the ‘rift’ and Harry and wills

And the ‘rift’ not being between Kate and Meghan at all. I’m not a royalist at all, however quite like both Kate and Meghan (actually really like Meghan and thinks she doing a great job) and wonder whether the ‘rift’ is actually between wills and Harry caused by William reportly having said that Meghan wasn’t suitable, and Harry thinking wtf dB who are you to tell me what to do and just because you are my big brother you don’t get to tell me what to do, we’re not kids anymore,
And Harry stepping out from William shadow, developing his own interests, and confidence and wills not being that keen.

We do know that Harry and Meghan's relationship was quick and was always going to bear family immediately after the wedding as this was clearly said to the world.

Quick, is a bit of a worry whirlwind romance marriage and DC...I would be worried about that for my db

I thought Press Intrusion was a factor behind the death of Princess Diana. And I thought there was a ‘never again’ mentality for gossipy press reporting. Hence my suggestion that the queen might once again want to ‘ave a word with Fleet Street ediotors about all this shite. Or just The Daily Mail...

noodlenosefraggle · 27/12/2018 15:05

They forgot all about that about a week after the funeral!

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?

Spoken like a true 'journalist' for that newspaper Grin

Despite this being a seemingly innocuous suggestion, it belies a more sinister route to censorship and 'state control'. Especially one that seeks to control media output. Much as I find most Daily Mail output odious and destructive, I wouldn't like to think the way to challenge it is to hand over editorial power to the head of state.

Hang on, have I missed something? Camilla didn't attend Eugenies wedding? How odd. Wonder why that wasn't more picked up on?

Camilla had a long-standing commitment at a school in Scotland the day of Eugenie’s wedding.

QueenDoria · 27/12/2018 18:08

It isn’t innocous. It has been done before.

QueenDoria · 27/12/2018 18:10

And the Queen has pretty much all channels handed over to her on Christmas Day. And when she feels like she needs to intervene, such as in the aftermath of Diana’s death...

NicoAndTheNiners · 27/12/2018 18:10

and I’m a big gossip at heart

No shit?

cringing100 · 27/12/2018 19:45

Anyone seen the footage of Meghan and Wills?

Jack65 · 27/12/2018 19:48

Camilla didnt attend Es wedding because of Andrews attitude toward her in the Diana days and they havent got on since. Hmm wonder why he had attitude?

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 27/12/2018 20:31

Is assuming that everyone who mildly dislikes Meghan is (subconsciously) racist, not in and of itself a bit racist though

In some cases it is probably true. That and the fact that she is American - and we all know about Wallis Simpson!

However, she does come across as fake and insincere. That might be due to her job as a obviously not very good actor, or it may be that she is a bit fake and insincere.

I also think Kate is a waste of space and the two princes thick as shit.

,y taxes pay for them so he'll. yeah, I'm allowed an opinion.

FWIW my husband was black and my mother in law is black. I have no idea what my husband would have thought of her but my mother in law claims it'll all end in tears within 5 years. I don't bother arguing with her. She's usually right!

katekat383 · 27/12/2018 20:35

The video is very revealing. William is behaving like a child or a boor. Take your pick. I am not a Meghan fan but that sort of behaviour is making me feel she does not deserve this.

HairyToity · 27/12/2018 20:37

I read somewhere that Megan's IQ is higher than the rest of the Roy family totalled together. I don't think she'd be so silly to fall out with Kate. Harry could very easily have fallen out with Wills.

I think it's sweet how Harry fell head over heels in love, and married his American divorcee actress.

HairyToity · 27/12/2018 20:38

Royal family not Roy family.

katekat383 · 27/12/2018 20:39

I like Roy family. Suits them.

WipsGlitter · 27/12/2018 21:33

That video is a nano second of someone who is pre-occupied and aware all eyes are on him.

McV123 · 27/12/2018 21:36

Meagain comes across conceited rather than confident and ruthless when it comes to climbing the social ladder.

She’s a divorcee pushing 40 which is fine but the innocent doe eyed character, hanging on to her husband for dear life doesn’t wash - this isn’t her first rodeo.

But none of this is anything to do with her race and I resent people saying that. She’s just a phony trying to play a character she thought would endear her to the public.

I think she’s (slowly) learning and becoming more aware though, I havent seen much of the bump cradling going on since the award ceremony backlash and I think Williams snub has the potential to make him look childish.

hairymuffet · 27/12/2018 22:09

One thing is for sure, we'll never know the truth.
He does look a bit shifty when he comes out of the church though !!

MamaRaisingBoys · 27/12/2018 22:19

I really can’t see what William is meant to have done wrong in that clip, he doesn’t appear to be snubbing her at all.

I feel really sorry for Meghan after watching the bit coming out of the church though. She appears to still not know what to do with herself and looks so awkward and uneasy

extremelymaturecheese · 27/12/2018 22:24

If you're a lady marrying into the Royal Family, it's just like if you marry one of the Beatles. EVERYONE will hate you...until you die.

I'm old enough to remember before 'Me-again', you had 'Waity-Katey' and all those unpleasant 'news' stories about Kate Middleton being a gold digging middle class social climber.

Before that you had Sophie of Wessex getting done over in an orchestrated tabloid sting.

Before that, Sarah Ferguson being dubbed the 'Duchess of Pork' and baited her became a national past time.

Or all those stories about Diana was just grabbed for breeding purposes etc.

Simple statistics are against Meghan and Harry - half of all marriages in the UK end in divorce. With the family she's married into, a thick hide and ruthless streak are survival qualities I think.

And whether the brothers have fallen out over her or other things is something we will never learn, unless it comes out in a tell-all book from one of the parties involved years from now.

thisisjustdaft · 27/12/2018 22:29

If you were a professional photographer and you took a thousand photos of the Royals, which ones do you think you'd be most likely to be able to sell to the gutter press to be used for a 'story'?

The 99.9% of them looking perfectly normal and regal, or the 0.1% where their expression could possibly be interpreted as something else...if attached to a made-up pile of tosh?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 27/12/2018 22:33

I don't see what Wills is doing wrong in that video, it looks like people leaving church... 🤷🏻‍♀️

VladmirsPoutine · 27/12/2018 23:01

It isn’t innocous. It has been done before.

There is a world of difference between requesting members of the press respect the personal privacy, boundaries and avoid intrusion of public figures, and the Queen taking steps to interfere with the media's editorial output. There's a reason why the press get up in arms when a powerful celeb/individual takes out a dubious injunction to cover their misdemeanours in an apparent attempt to 'protect' their privacy.

And the Queen has pretty much all channels handed over to her on Christmas Day.

Again, a world of difference between the Queen getting a 15-minute slot on Christmas day to wax lyrical in an abstract/platitudinous sense and her actually getting to control media output.

Honestly, some of the views expressed on this thread is exactly why we are where we are Hmm

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 27/12/2018 23:18

The men/“blood royals” don’t exactly escape criticism though, do they? Charles interferes, Phillip...well yes, Andrew pushes his children forward, Edward seems to come off ok as does Anne though. Then we’ve got the York sisters.

Being in the public eye opens you up to criticism and having the focus on you.
