I add, either in my head or out loud (like just now) "persil grips the grease so it can't get back on the plate".
DD has told me I'm odd.

I have no idea what you’re on about Confused

TwoLads · 23/12/2018 17:29

Eh?

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2018 17:30

Too much Christmas Gin Stealth?

dudsville · 23/12/2018 17:30

I think the typo in the title is that instead of "e veryone" it should day "every time". I don't know the advert though.

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 23/12/2018 17:30

DD is correct. I don't get it.

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2018 17:32

Ah yes every TIME sorry
Does no one else remember the advert

MyPoodleisWorthTenofYou · 23/12/2018 17:32

What’s the ‘you see’ bit mean though?!

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2018 17:35

Iirc the advert was from the 80s or early 90s and was a woman showing her daughter how to wash up (her husband was probably off showing their ds how to shoot bear)
"you see... Persil grips the grease so it can't get back on the plate"
DH gets me. I feel old

Munchmallow · 23/12/2018 17:46

I'm very old but I don't remember it.

However every time anyone says 'course you can!' I always add 'Malcolm' Grin

Chewbecca · 23/12/2018 17:48

Oh, I do understand what you mean now I have read it 3 times including correction and I do remember the ad. But your DD is right.

TheKitchenWitch · 23/12/2018 17:50

Isn’t Persil for clothes though, not dishes?

TheRhythmessCarolMan · 23/12/2018 17:54

Nope...

I've just realise that everyone I say "you see"
JellySlice · 23/12/2018 18:02

I don't remember that ad, but whenever someone telling the time says "It's five to five" I hear in my head "...and it's Crackerjack!"

So YANBU. Grin

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2018 18:06

I'm also old & Northern & I don't remember it. Sorry!

TriSarahTops · 23/12/2018 18:11

No. I have no memory of this at all (despite having worked at Unilever for years).

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 23/12/2018 18:12

"Course you can".....(Malcolm)

"Watch out".......(There's a Humphrey about!)

"Nice one!".......(Cyril)

and if anyone asks where I come from I put on my best Mockney accent and say "Luton Airport".

Sorry OP. I don't know the advert you're referring to.

I did Google it, but only got Robbie Coltrane ads, which I simply don't remember at all......Confused

treaclesoda · 23/12/2018 18:14

I remember it OP.

I also remember the Robbie Coltrane Persil ads where he sarcastically said that the Persil 'jumped up with its little hand-ys' to wash the dishes. Do you remember that one?

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 23/12/2018 18:26

What time is it? (It's time for lunch!)
