I add, either in my head or out loud (like just now) "persil grips the grease so it can't get back on the plate".
DD has told me I'm odd.

I have: "DD. Please [whatever]. Ice Cream Kitty is beginning to melt."

Philomensapie · 23/12/2018 22:27

And I've killed the thread.

Sitranced · 23/12/2018 22:38

I remember it, but I thought it was with Mel Smith and Gruff Rhys Jones in a Fairy as not Persil.

thebigmaniswatching · 23/12/2018 22:45

I remember it!!

I’m from Accrington so whenever I tell someone I get the “who are they?” in a scouse accent responseGrin

Nousernameforme · 23/12/2018 22:52

Whenever anyone stretches we always say stretch to sun roof. It was a ruby wax car advert from the 90s. Somethings just stick.
Also we can't go ooosk like when lifting something heavy without saying lobster. From an old eddy izzard sketch ooska ooska ooska lobster

happinessischocolate · 23/12/2018 22:53

I don't remember that ad, but whenever someone telling the time says "It's five to five" I hear in my head "...and it's Crackerjack!"

Same, I may also say "all I need now is a cabbage" everytime I go shopping without any bags and I insist on carrying 10 items in my arms cos I too tight to buy anymore bags ...

rosamacrose · 23/12/2018 22:57

Working in customer services, it's surprising how many people live at number seventy six (trombones in the big parade)
I just can't help myself.
I've even said it outloud Blush

SlightAggrandising · 23/12/2018 22:59

@Nousernameforme right arm down to body coloured bumper?

OP I remember.

rosamacrose · 23/12/2018 23:03

Seventy seven is Sunset Strip.
Xmas Confused
How did I get so old?

rosamacrose · 23/12/2018 23:06

happinessischocolate GrinXmas GrinGrin
Me too!

Nousernameforme · 23/12/2018 23:25

@slightaggrandising good memory. I didn't remember that bit until you said it.

BackforGood · 23/12/2018 23:35

However every time anyone says 'course you can!' I always add 'Malcolm' grin

Now this ^ I can get on board with.

BadgerWithSprouts · 23/12/2018 23:39

Aah my people! Whenever I hear “Thank you very much” I add “for feeding William”.

I have even done this in a meeting with several senior managers present, It just came out. There was a tumbleweed moment.
It’s actually a compulsion, I wish I could stop myself Xmas Blush

BoswellandForshort · 24/12/2018 00:08

I know what you mean OP! Every time the ITV news comes on at night and it says “This is the ITV news at 10”, I add “with John Suchet”. He hasn’t presented it for 14 years, but my mind (and sometimes my mouth) still adds that bit.

EnidButton · 24/12/2018 00:13

Whenever someone says the word flash I add "Ahh ahhh" in my head. Or sometimes out loud really quietly.

JamAtkins · 24/12/2018 00:17

I remember it. Pmsl at ‘for feeding william’

abbsisspartacus · 24/12/2018 00:18

Yup I remember it as fairy though

Mine is ten to ten = cowboy time

JellySlice · 24/12/2018 00:24

Ah, Boswell, you must be young Wink. For me "This is the ITV news at 10”, makes me add “with Trevor Mcdonald”. Only I then get a double effect, because it turns into "with Trevor Mcdonut".

StealthPolarBear · 24/12/2018 00:31

It must be fairy then. I would have sworn it was persil.
I also add for feeding William whenever anyone thanks me very much.

It's Friday! It's five to five! And it's time for Crackerjack!

Play Away!

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 24/12/2018 03:11

Oh, I vaguely remember the advert.

Also when someone says 'and on and on' I think of the skeleton in the armchair and say 'Ariston and on and on.' Anyone remember video tapes?

Still think fondly of Smash every time we do mashed potatoes.

The talking chimps and the joke when they are moving the piano and they stop for a cup of tea. Had to show the boys the advert for that one when we told the joke.

The goalie and the crowd singing 'You've had your chips, your chips.'

And '...through the [guess a shape before they tell you] window.' in Play School.

Oh, and Rainbow, The Clangers, Fingermouse, Button Moon... drifts off into a hazy memory of old children's programs with a happy smile on her face...those were the days (of our lives - Queen. Will have to reminisce about their songs next, finishing off with a rousing, perfectly executed rendition (only in her head) of Bohemian Rhapsody.)

That's my Christmas sorted!

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 24/12/2018 03:12

'Oooo, I could crush a grape.'
