Please help me (so hungover)

Work Christmas lunch yesterday. Ended up a highly boozy affair. Got home about 1am. Threw up (tidily). Threw up again this morning and now I can’t get out of bed. Every time I sit or stand I want to be sick. My head is splitting.

I have two under-fours. This is my first night out in a long long time. DH took them out for Christmassy things this morning and I am gutted that I couldn’t be there. I just couldn’t. They are heading back now and I need to get up and help.

Please help. Someone out there must have a hangover cure.

A cure? Don't drink. Or drink and know your limits, extremely irresponsible of you as you have 2 young children.

Have a berocca if you have one (or any orange vitamin tablet drink) and eat something small. Whatever you fancy.

Buscake · 22/12/2018 12:45

Order a takeaway - kebab maybe? Cold icy drink of water. Have a shower, it’ll make you feel way better. Change into clean pyjamas and stick a Disney film on Flowers

ihatehoney

🙄

onemouseplace · 22/12/2018 12:47

Can of full fat coke, a shower and something very sweet and biscuity (like party rings or iced gems) - I find it's about getting sugar into my system.

oh ffs @ihatehoney wind your neck in.....lots of cola, carbs, anadin, and just plod on through it I'm afraid x

MaureenMLove · 22/12/2018 12:48

Ive just had a stodgy breakfast roll and a bottle of lucozade, sorted me right out! I wasn't sick though, so I'm probably not as bad as you. I do feel your pain though. You probably will have to write today off completely! Family xmas films, blanket, sofa and lots of water is your only option for the afternoon!

DragonMamma · 22/12/2018 12:49

Ignore ihatehoney’s bashing OP. It’s Christmas - you’re entitled to have a good time, kids or no kids.

I find ice lollies help the most - refreshing and help get you hydrated without feeling sick from drinking too much liquid. You need to eat some carbs - toast is the most obvious place to start.

Take some Alka Seltzer if you have them/can stomach it.

MissyCooper · 22/12/2018 12:50

I am so mad at myself. Thankfully DH is being kind about it. Probably kinder than I would be.

Bore off ihatehoney, we cant all be perfect like your good self.

I don’t think there’s a lot you can do OP. Just drink lots of liquid, eat some carbs, take some painkillers, and count down time. Look forward to waking up tomorrow morning.

Caselgarcia · 22/12/2018 12:51

I feel for you. I didn't drink for 3 years when I had my two children. I went out at Christmas with work just had a few glasses of wine but next day I had the worse hangover in the world. Like you I couldn't get out of bed without throwing up. I felt like the worse mum ever as DP was at work and I had to look after two small children. I never drink now.

MrsCar · 22/12/2018 12:52

Drink plenty water and try and sleep

Zebedee88 · 22/12/2018 12:52

Something greasy works for me. Fry up or McDonalds. Grease and sugar. Also drink the water, you need to replace your lost fluids.

knittedjest · 22/12/2018 12:53

Just get up and push on. What's the worst that can happen? You puke?

jq28 · 22/12/2018 12:53

Coke, Anadin, plain crisps, and a shower! And you'll still feel shit until about 6 but don't worry too much it happens to us all!
And @ihatehoney get a life.

Mummyshark2018 · 22/12/2018 12:53

Mind over matter. Get up have a hot then cold shower. Eat a banana, Diet Coke and then in a little while a fry up. Getting outside for fresh air helps too!

Reccy2018 · 22/12/2018 12:55

Full fat coke, MacDonalds, paracetamol, a hot shower, and a quick walk in the fresh air. You'll get an hour or two before you need the sofa again x

twosoups1972 · 22/12/2018 12:55

you’re entitled to have a good time

Well yes but you have to question whether it was worth a night out and feeling great for a few hours, against hours and hours of feeling shit Hmm

juneau · 22/12/2018 12:56

Sip water and take 2 paracetamol or ibuprofen (whichever you prefer). You're seriously dehydrated, which will be making you feel a lot worse than the alcohol itself, which you shouldn't really have much of in your system any more, having puked twice and it been many hours since you last had a drink.

I'd take the meds and give yourself up to an hour for them to work, then try and get up and have a shower. If you feel okay after that then maybe have a cup of tea or something soothing. I'd avoid anything acidic (e.g. orange juice), or fatty (e.g. hot chocolate), and just take it easy. Your tolerance for alcohol is probably shot with two small DC, so just put it down to experience, have a good night's sleep tonight and hopefully tomorrow you'll feel better.

Nicknamesalltaken · 22/12/2018 12:57

Hang on to the thought that you will wake up tomorrow and be entirely back to normal.

But for now, be kind to yourself and get through the day. You are not alone. Many, many of us are feeling your pain. I don’t think i’m hungover (Was hosting so not drinking much) but was a 4am bedtime after the clear up. Am watching cookery shows underneath my favourite blanket and will continue to do so until bedtime.

This too shall pass Smile

DragonMamma · 22/12/2018 12:58

Fucking hell. There’s some sanctimonious people on here today.

Look, nobody drinks because they love a hangover but occasionally we all go a bit OTT in th name of fun Hmm

LadyGrey66 · 22/12/2018 12:58

Take some painkillers, back to sleep for half an hour while they kick in, get up, in the shower, get dressed, lots and lots of water and something like a full-sugar coke, plain toast and out for a walk for some fresh air. You can do it OP!

Pinkyponkcustard · 22/12/2018 13:00

Full fat coke and a bonk Wink

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 22/12/2018 13:01

Lots of water to start, small sips regularly rather than big gulps. Take painkillers if you can.
Then eat All The Carbs. Whatever you can manage. Toast, bacon sandwich, crisps, crackers etc.
Have some gentle fruit for the sugar if you can after. Nothing sharp like orange. Banana is good.
Dairy seems to make me feel worse rather than better so I avoid it, might not be the same for everyone.
Cool shower, fresh pjs, nap.
More carbs.
Good luck.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 22/12/2018 13:02

For me it's full fat coke and a McDonalds.

On the rare occasion I drink so much I can't even keep water down, I just accept my fate for the die and stay in bed and suffer.

This has only happened twice and I feel your pain.

My work Xmas party tonight so I'm stocking up on hangover food for tomorrow.
