I am so pleased to hear how well you are doing. Also sorry your thread has been hijacked and I hope it won’t put you off posting about your recovery. I can’t believe it has been a month.

I have skin cancer on my face - not linked to sunbed use but sun exposure, I'm having treatment at the moment and have a large open wound the size of my palm covering my nose and one cheek. I've watched my grown up kids cry this week because of my disfigured face, it could be you in 20 yrs time op.

The surgery you've had is amazing. There's not a sign of it on your face now.

freeAnneBoleyn · 06/01/2019 20:27

A huge amount of this has been absolutely incredible.

Saucery · 06/01/2019 20:30

Applesandpears23, it’s not about hijacking. OP is in a very difficult position and I really hope she finds the support she needs for her recovery. However, it is not fair or right to accuse someone of dangerous malpractice with medical equipment on an open forum read by thousands. This is someone’s livelihood that’s being bandied about with no right of reply. It’s possibly libellous (the medical stuff) and certainly meanspirited and unkind (the physical stuff).

triangletrifle · 06/01/2019 20:32

Are you CHC funded? I ask because if you are funding your care through NHS then the money is supposed to be used for care and support and clinical tasks, if they have been properly delegated from a health care professional, and not things that would be classed as ‘social’ needs like dog walking. If your live-in is commissioned via a care agency but funded by CHC, I would get in touch with your CHC case manager about any potential care quality issues.

Cuntcuntcunt · 06/01/2019 20:35

I've had skin cancer removed from my arm. About the size of a 50p or slightly bigger. You can still see the scar. And you can see it in photos if I have a sleeveless top on.

My mum DIED of cancer and one of the forms she had was multiple skin cancers on her face. 3. You could see the scars. Especially only 3 months later. They were pocked and noticeable.

i'm upset that my mum couldn't get the sort of care that left the removal invisible, and that I have a scar on my arm that is noticeable. That's not fair.

BlancheM · 06/01/2019 20:38

Oh dear.

KeepSmiling80 · 06/01/2019 20:39

Another one for the mint rollers.

'This could have really frightening consequences, because I can't cough I rely totally on the suction machine to clear secretions loosened by being on the ventilator'

Do you have a tracheostomy? I didn't think you did, apologies if I'm mistaken. If not a suction machine isn't necessary.

If there isn't clinical need for a trachy and you can get secretions as far as your mouth then you don't need to be dependent on suction you should be able to spit secretions out. What do you do with the suction catheter, actually stick it down your trachea orally??

BahHumPug · 06/01/2019 20:46

Blimey, I was a carer when I was younger and I didn’t have to corall a single animal. I only did tasks that related specifically to my client. My training didn’t cover a single aspect of horse care 😥

Funnily enough I found most of my colleagues were there because they wanted to care for people, not because they wanted to be a glorified house-slave.

welcometonarnia · 06/01/2019 20:50

My thoughts are with the carer tonight. If anyone needs a bus outta somewhere, it's her!

Seafour · 06/01/2019 20:51

Cunt it would appear that you are casting doubt on my skin cancer treatment, the treatment I had is light dynamic therapy, the results can vary enormously in terms of long term scarring, I haven't been left with visible scars but I also don't know if it's got rid of the two growths, I will find out next month.

OP posts:
Cuntcuntcunt · 06/01/2019 20:53

I didn't say I was casting doubt on it; I'm amazed that an open wound the size of your palm - your description - has healed so well in such a short space of time.

Your comments about the carer, and those of some others on this thread are utterly despicable.

ChanelPlease · 06/01/2019 20:55

'My thoughts are with the carer tonight:

Same. Op with respect you need a carer, a cleaner and a dog walker. You shouldn't expect a carer to do all of these jobs.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 06/01/2019 20:56

What sort of facial cancer have you had treatment for op?

BahHumPug · 06/01/2019 20:56

Gosh you’ve been very unlucky with your health Sad

cooblanket · 06/01/2019 21:01

Another one for the mint rollers.
Isn't it just.

Nacknick · 06/01/2019 21:03

Chanelplease "If there isn't clinical need for a trachy and you can get secretions as far as your mouth then you don't need to be dependent on suction you should be able to spit secretions out. What do you do with the suction catheter, actually stick it down your trachea orally??"

If there's one thing that really fucking annoys me it's people making this kind of judgement on someone else's medical situation based on their own limited experience. I'm sure Seafour would be more than happy not to have to use suction but she is the expert in her medical condition, not someone behind a keyboard on the internet.

Seafour, don't feel you have to post photographs to prove anything. Please look after yourself.

Cuntcuntcunt · 06/01/2019 21:07

On 16th October you said:

How has that healed so well in 2.5 months? What magic potions are you using? How can you not have been left with visible scars from something so disfiguring that ADULT CHILDREN were crying at the sight of your face less than 3 months ago and it was an open wound the size of your palm basically over half your face? Can you please share the name of whatever you are using so that I can try it on my arm.

Seafour · 06/01/2019 21:08

BahHumPug I had 47 years of excellent health thank you very much.

Light therapy does not cause open wounds. I think you have something very very confused.

Derma · 06/01/2019 21:11

@NackNick Are you aware Seafour also believes she needs to have some of her medication to the minute? As much as I am sure she is an expert patient on at leafy this occasion her thoughts are unfounded and inaccurate.
