Muriell walking past her Mum in “Muriel’s Wedding” and then the happy photo of her her they find afterwards. Just one of many.

@Avegemitesanwich. Jesus that’s a good point.

PegLegAntoine · 15/12/2018 00:02

Same. The double standard makes me so sad. But then I guess that is sort of the point, being how it was at the time. Truly uncomfortable.

What I expected to happen was that Bruno got out and begged his dad to let his friend go, but the dad wouldn’t.

Yutes · 15/12/2018 00:05

“Should you need us” from Labyrinth

“It’s ok to be angry” from A Monster Calls

“You can exhale now” Love, Simon.

I break my heart at lots of films.

Oratorio · 15/12/2018 00:09

Black Mirror - Be Right Back. That episode strikes so true with me about what a loving relationship is, and plays on my darkest fears of losing it. I sob like a baby every time.

As others have said, Inside No 9, 12 Days of Christine. Amazing TV, great twist.

The end of Green Mile when John Coffey is watching Top
Hat, “dancing cheek to cheek” just before his execution.

Oratorio · 15/12/2018 00:11

Oh yes, A Monster Calls too, though the book made me cry much more.

Also, the first ten minutes of the video game The Last Of Us.

When Artax dies in Never Ending Story...

'Lost Christmas' where the little girl is on the ice and the two firemen work as a team

'Only Fools' where Del is in the bathroom undressing , Rodney is whittering on outside unaware that Del took a pasting from The Driscolls (so that Rodders got the money for his deposit) and he's covered in bruises

'Philadelphia' where Tom Hanks leaves the lawyers office with the reality hitting him that he's not going to help, and he stands against the wall in the blizzard with his lip trembling. Sad

midsomermurderess · 15/12/2018 00:18

The end of the Killing Fields, when Dithn Pran and Sidney are reunited to the strains of Imagine (a song I generally loath). That really gets me.

ohwownosnow · 15/12/2018 00:22

When Scar throws Mufasa off the ledge in Lion King. I'm in my goddamn 30s and it still gets me every single time!

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 15/12/2018 09:28

The bit in Titanic when all the coal shovelers below the deck of the ship are trying to find ways out as the ship sinks. The doors are coming down automatically and their boss waits as long as he can but then has to go leaving some colleagues behind to drown 😥 Most of them that escaped probably died anyway but at least they had a chance.

AragonsGirl · 15/12/2018 10:37

Hodor dying in GoT
Billy dying in Ally McBeal

Idontmeanto · 15/12/2018 10:51

Have any of the other Dr Who nerds rewatched The Library and Forest of the Dead since the River Song story arc closed, ish. I thought it was fabulous when it first aired, but rewatching makes me sob now!

VenusClapTrap · 15/12/2018 11:00

I’ve Loved You so Long. When Kristin Scott Thomas thinks her probation officer has gone to visit the Orinoco. Argh.

mateysmum · 15/12/2018 11:01

The end of The Age of Innocence when Newland Archer choses to walk away and remember Madame Olenska as the young woman he loved and lost, rather than see her middle aged and changed. Gets me every time. The lost love, the alternative lives that could have been lived and yet the recognition that you can never go back all encapsulated in one brief, wordless scene.

Yes yes to My Daddy and to David Tennant's farewell.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/12/2018 11:11

Friends, when Rachel gets off the plane and goes back to Ross.It gets me everytime. The final scene in Ghost when he goes up to heaven and she can finally see him.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/12/2018 11:13

When Barbara is singing Que sera sera to nana in The Royle Family.I end up in bits every time !

PhannyMcNee · 15/12/2018 11:53

Gallipoli is my go to when I need an excuse to do proper snotty stomach hurting crying. Every time.

As others have said, Will The Good Wife, start of Up, Goose in Top Gun, ET, Titanic (the old couple on the bed and the mum tucking her children in), “Daddy, my Daddy”, Love Actually (Emma Thompson and the airport scenes at the end Blush), 4 Weddings funeral poem.

Also Mamma Mia - both of them.

Bizarrely Marley and me didn’t bother me.

anxious62 · 15/12/2018 12:52

The movie Eight Below when they go back and find the dogs.

When Mark Green’s fax is read out on ER.

When Abbey Lockhart leaves ER and Maleh takes her to a store room with all the old staff name tags on the wall.

Elderflower14 · 15/12/2018 13:39

Just remembered another.....
When Barbara died and her funeral on Call The Midwife... It wasn't long after my DP died and I sobbed so much..... 😪 😪 😪 😪 😪 😪

Elderflower14 · 15/12/2018 13:43

@Msadorabelle. The film is The Silent Child. As the mother of a deaf child I sobbed too.....

Elderflower14 · 15/12/2018 13:57

And I'm now sobbing after Chummy has the baby in CTM. "Hello little bean...." sob!!

The finale special of Dawsons Creek.. Pretty much all of it.

mikado1 · 15/12/2018 14:12

'He's allergic to bees.' My Girl

'His glasses, his glasses, what happened to his glasses?' Same. Oh how I cried.

nowifi · 15/12/2018 17:21

Yes The Silent Child was so sad! Great film hope they make it into a feature film.

Donthugmeimscared · 15/12/2018 17:38

I don't cry at much but random ones like.

In futurama when you find out his brother named his son after fry and it ends with the song "don't you forget about me".

Black mirror be right back just the desperation of not wanting to lose someone. I still get sad I can't remember my dad's voice.

Mufasa death in the lion king as I found my dad when I was young and that was to close to the mark.

For some reason the greatest showman makes me cry but really can't work out why.
