Most underrated and overrated TV in your opinion

I'm talking about good TV not shows everyone realises are a bit cack

OVERRATED

This Is Us - everyone shits on about this like it's the most amazing new show in years

It's not as good as Brothers And Sisters was and not as good as Parenthood both similarly themed

UNDERRATED

I never hear anyone talk about Fargo ever and the second series was AMAZING I've just seen it

Parks And Rec

Never seemed to get any acclaim over here but so good and so funny.

Inside No 9!

Watched from the start but ended up with gaps and have never fully caught up

It is genius and I was taken with it from the Sardines episode, how they can fit such compelling and thought provoking detailed stories into 30 mins! Definitely underrated, definitely not as popular or talked about as it deserves

Friends is passé now, sure but at the time it was huge and felt new. Now that it's 20 some of the misogyny and homophobia is YIKES!

So glad to see love for Inside No 9, it deserves a Black Mirror type hype.

Schitt's Creek is underrated. The writing is excellent and Catherine O'Hara is gold.

I'd nominate Patriot on Amazon as being massively underrated, and not very widely known.

It's a very dark comedy about a US spy, and you really need to pay attention when watching it, so much of the show is visual and very subtle in humour.

Loved it!

Over - Gilmore Girls - ughhhhh boring.

Under - Baskets with Zach Galifianakis, it's just gorgeous.

Underrated: agree with inside no9, utterly brilliant. I also really liked psychoville.

Utopia, hardly anyone saw it I think, loved it.

I don't tend to get on with American comedies mostly (loved golden girls, cheers and friends oh and the one with al Bundy which has gone out of my head). I watched some of the American office and wasn't impressed, didn't like that Larry one or sienfeld either.

Mrsjohnmurphy yes to Golden Girls, I regularly re watch and they were so ahead of their time :) and it's genuinely hilarious.

Agree with previous posters. Inside No9 and Psychoville totally underrated. Absolutely adored both of them but Psychoville definitely my favourite of the two.

Underrated:
HBO's Rome - amazing sets, interesting, funny, vair sexy and also very dark in places.

Please Like Me - Aussie comedy about a young guy, his friends and family just after he comes out (the gayness is incidental rather than the point though)

Overrated:
Breaking Bad. Can't stand it. I was always just so bored!

Have to add Teachers to my underrated! I loved it so much at the time, not sure if it has the same appeal now but loved it! Also Peep Show.

YES to Alias Grace!! It was absolutely amazing, well told and not overdone in terms of the run up to the series before it aired! Probably my favourite one season thing I've ever watched!

Overrated - Breaking Bad. I just don't get the hype.

Underrated - Planet Earth. Not usually a documentary person but that takes so much effort to film, yet is so well done.

Underrated- Power on Netflix. One of the most bingeable and best shows I've watched in ages and nobody seems to have heard of it!

Overrated- Breaking Bad, didn't get the hype at all and it's the kind of genre I usually love.

Agree with breaking bad, watched 2 series and it kind of made me feel a bit panicky when he was gaslighting his wife. The episodes dragged too.

Binged watched got this year, in an embarrassingly short time, not helped by my sister often watching with me and
prattling on so I had to rewatch. I'm glad of the break before the last series.

It really was rosenylund! Lots of them are in YouTube, the writing is really good, some of the lines are hilarious.

Over rated - any reality/celebrity/talent show type programme

Under rated - Kath and Kim (the original Australian version) It is always guaranteed to make me smile!

Al Bundy was Married with Children and it is the only American comedy I have ever enjoyed.

I wish they would repeat it .

Underestimated: Longmire. It's on 5US or something. A modern day sheriff and his team in Wyoming and also interacting with the police on the nearby reservation. Quite melancholy and thoughtful.
Overestimated: reality tv, singing, dancing shows, soaps. But clearly I am wrong.

This will be an unpopular opinion, but I think Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps is a very underrated comedy. Whenever critics are talking about terrible British sitcoms this is always used as an example, so I’d always avoided it. But I watched it for the first time recently and really enjoyed it. OK it’s kind of stupid and crude, but it’s really funny and the five lead actors all give great performances. I also love the noughties nostalgia and the music choices.

Another underrated sitcom for me (this time in terms of viewing figures rather than critical acclaim) is 15 Storeys High, with Sean Lock. It’s brilliant, but most people haven’t even heard of it.

Most overrated for me is Sherlock. The first two series are good, and I like Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. But after series two it gets very pleased with itself and I think some of the praise it gets is very excessive.

Overrated - TWD, just can't be arsed with it
