If you're up and about, why are you awake?

Waves at fellow night owls.

I've just made a pot of coffee, as have a deadline tomorrow and lost ground this afternoon being faint and ill and useless. My blood sugar has zoomed up to 20 after a crappy hypo, but I'm doing ok for now, though obviously would prefer to be in bed.

If you're up and no plans for sleep yet, what are you doing?

jezebel are you ok?

DangerMouse17 · 06/12/2018 18:35

Hi jezebel....how did you get on today? Thinking of you.

I’m awake worrying and waiting for my 18 year old to get home. He’s gone out with a girlfriend tonight and texted me earlier to say that he’d be home between 1 and 2am. I replied reminding him not to be much later as he has work at 10am.
Here we are at gone 3.45am and he’s still not home. I’ve spoken to him and he’s stopped to get food, but still has to drive 10 miles home along a notoriously dangerous road.
My husband’s working away so I’m here worrying on my own.

Currently laid awake in a premier inn with a bad ankle. Went over on it and ankle swollen up. Local A&E was a 4 hour wait and that was before the drunken injuries started coming in. Hoping to catch an early train home so I can visit local minor injury clinic.

I'm worried because around this time last year I did the same thing to the same ankle and I'd snapped the end off a bone resulting in wearing a moonboot for 6 weeks.

Not looking forward to the walk to the train station.

Am in Vietnam.... with a flood....

Karmagician · 09/12/2018 04:13

Madison is he home yet? Horrible worrying and I'm sure your mind is going through every possible scenario but you know it's just this time of the night when everything feels 100 times worse anyway. He'll be fine. Hope you can get some sleep soon. Mrsjg poor you! Hope you can get the ankle sorted tomorrow. I'm just awake as sleeping terribly at the moment. Can usually last until around 4-4.30am but DP has been asleep downstairs most of the evening and just came up to bed an hour ago. Woke me up and now can't get back to sleep grrr..

MadisonAvenue · 09/12/2018 04:20

Karma, still no sign of him! As well as the safer aspect I’m worrying about him going to work on very little sleep, not doing well and losing his part time job as he’s still in his probationary period and it’s a job he’s enjoying and which pays well so he needs to keep it.

MadisonAvenue · 09/12/2018 04:24

Safety, not safer.

Karmagician · 09/12/2018 04:29

Madison don't worry about the lack of sleep. As long as you can get him up and to work I'm sure he'll be fine once he's there. He's 18! and if he enjoys the job will want to keep it. I guess he was getting food and 10 miles would take, what, 30 mins or so. Was girlfriend still with him as that could be holding him up?

BitchQueen90 · 09/12/2018 04:33

Madison I remember at 18 I would get home at 4.30am from a night out and head off to work at 6.30am. 18 year olds seem to have endless energy!

I'm up early because I have a 7am flight. Currently drinking coffee at the airport.

MadisonAvenue · 09/12/2018 04:35

I’m not sure if she was or not, all he said was that he would be home soon but if he had to take her home then she’s another 30 mins in the opposite direction so that’d add an hour on. Damn, I have to be up by 7.

TheOrigFV45 · 09/12/2018 04:38

Hello.

Philomensapie · 09/12/2018 04:38

I just woke up at 4.08. Possibly perimenopausal.

Philomensapie · 09/12/2018 04:39

No, sorry. 3.32. DS2 woke up at 4.08.

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/12/2018 04:39

My teenager came home sloppy drunk, crying, wanting Mummy etc. Oh dear.
She's fine now, in bed with her bf with the door very much open, and I told him no touching her at all.
I've put 8 bottles of water in there, and they are both snoring.

Ollivander84 · 09/12/2018 04:42

I've just rolled in Blush

Karmagician · 09/12/2018 04:46

Ah Madison that's probably it then - so likely another parent (hers) lying awake worrying too right now 😁. I have all of this to look forward to - my boys are only 8 but in the dead of the night I can still find a million reasons to worry about them! Queen Bon Voyage! Work or pleasure?

littlecabbage · 09/12/2018 04:47

Up with a happy but totally wide awake baby Confused. Luckily, DH has just offered to take over, so I'm off to bed. Night night all.

Karmagician · 09/12/2018 04:49

Madison your son wasn't out with Brillo's daughter was he? Or with Ollivander 😟

Bunbunbunny · 09/12/2018 04:52

I slept all day due to migraine now wide awake Confused

Ollivander84 · 09/12/2018 04:56

Not guilty! I'm dreading going to bed as I will be rough tomorrow 😭😭

nbtosser · 09/12/2018 05:30

Talk to me

Alwaysdrama · 09/12/2018 08:51

school my thoughts are with you. Xxx

MadisonAvenue · 09/12/2018 11:57

Karma, I don't think he was. Anyway, he got in at 4.50 which made the dog bark the house down.

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 10/12/2018 00:54

Anyone up? Busy brain making mental lists that perpetuate despite writing them down. We need to exchange tomorrow or the whole thing falls through and were up shit creek.
Also my leg hurts SO much. For no apparent reason. Thr hypochondriac in me has half convinced the rest of me it might be a DVT. What do you do if you're alone in the house with children and need an ambulance? Do they wake up the kids an d drag them along until someone can collect then from hospital? Important wordings such as these insist on running through my mind.
