If you're up and about, why are you awake?

Waves at fellow night owls.

I've just made a pot of coffee, as have a deadline tomorrow and lost ground this afternoon being faint and ill and useless. My blood sugar has zoomed up to 20 after a crappy hypo, but I'm doing ok for now, though obviously would prefer to be in bed.

If you're up and no plans for sleep yet, what are you doing?

I've got a cold and can't sleep. I've told meds but feel too rough.

Just for a hot water bottle to help my stomach pain that I always seem to get with a cold

MollyHuaCha · 06/12/2018 02:21

Can't get to sleep. No caffeine since the afternoon, I've had a lovely bubble bath, but the zeds aren't coming.

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 02:21

Thank you Pyongyang. I think all I've got is the truth. Will see what the solicitor says. If the last few days are anything to go by, I'll just be a mess of tears and blubbering.

Gobby Just browse the whole place! The central aisles with the odd stuff in changes every couple of weeks. Veg and meat are always high quality. The bottled beers are far better than they have any right to be, the chocolate (Möser Roth) is excellent. The granola/muesli are lovely. All the off-brand things are surprisingly good, don't be put off trying them just because you don't know the make. Check out the frozen roastables and desserts.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 06/12/2018 02:31

I'm up as usual with a night owl DC.

There seems to be more pps on 'the night shift' thread tonight, so I'm going to make a cuppa now and RTFT. Brew

SpoonBlender · 06/12/2018 02:35

Jezebel you properly do need some help - maybe let your mum take care of you if you can allow yourself to be taken care of at all. Talk to the medical people if you end up with them again, tell them exactly how you feel - break down if you need to. They've seen it all before and can probably help. Don't be frightened of medication, it's really not as brain-killing as it's popularly thought to be. Try and be kind to yourself, don't blame yourself for everything.

Generic advice, but you might be able to get some use from some of it.

Break down on the police if you need to, too. If they suggest a move over to the medical team, take it.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/12/2018 02:35

Gobby

The sour cherry and chilli chocolate bars are to die for! Oh and their vodka is apparently better than premium brands (dont drink it so dont know).

Thejezebel

Let us know how you get on, will be thinking about you Flowers

Aldi do amazing brie for the absurd price of 87p

Their frozen stuff is pretty decent. Biscuits are good and yes. The moser roth chocolate is yummy.
I also like their lacura brand beauty products. And v cheap children's books and toys for pressies

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 06/12/2018 02:36

Aldi cut roses last for weeks. Def buy some flowers

Peacocking · 06/12/2018 02:46

I'm on night shift.

I'm far far far from an expert, but surely in order to forcibly take someone into an ambulance for treatment against their will (when they've committed no crime and are not under arrest), they've been deemed to lack capacity at that moment, so wouldn't have the capacity to rationalise resisting as being a Bad Idea? Sounds like very dodgy ground from the police side.

Shriek · 06/12/2018 02:47

Jezebel that doesn't sound like you assaulted in the trad sense of the word, yes, fighting to get away! Just keep making that clear. Very very sorry you were treated like that on top of what you've been through. Take care of you. Flowers

BeekyChitch · 06/12/2018 02:48

@Thejezebel totally empathise with you. Been through similar. Drunk made a mistake ,went through court etc. I know how horrible it can be and takes a lot of space up in your thoughts. Whatever happens I promise you'll be ok.Thanks Be honest, be open and accept help.

Inthetropics · 06/12/2018 02:51

This will sound silly but i haven't been able to burp for a few days and am now in a lot of pain due to this trying to pass gas. Embarassing.

Spanielmadness · 06/12/2018 02:57

Just got back from a late night shag-athon with my b/f. He lives 2.5 hours away but is currently 25 miles from me in a hotel, as he’s on business. It was fab!!

SpoonBlender · 06/12/2018 03:02

Go Spaniel! You lucky girl!

Ah, fuckit, I'm off to go and try to sleep. Good luck everyone!

sashh · 06/12/2018 03:10

I'm awake, just that, often if I wake up for the loo I don't get back to sleep.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/12/2018 03:11

inthetropics

How does your stomach feel? Hard and like you have the worlds biggest burp that just wont come? Keep an eye on your temperature amd if you start to feel nauseous get seen asap. That is how my appendicitis started.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 06/12/2018 03:15

Because I'm working on an assignment while being incredibly stressed about visiting London later in the week, uni generally and feeling desperately sad and panicked and worried because I've been a bad friend recently because I've been so stressed and overwhelmed with everything I've been too wrapped up in my own life to be their for my friends.

Idlikeabunchofbananasplease · 06/12/2018 03:15

I'm just a terrific night owl not very good at sleeping

HotInWinter · 06/12/2018 03:26

Morning!

Up for the day in the middle east. Breakfast done, lunch boxes done. One child dressed. 20 mins til the school run in 20 mins. It's currently 6.26.....

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 06/12/2018 03:29

Sorry @Flambola

I'm working nightshift.

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 03:32

I'm guessing the solicitor is going to try to get me to accept culpability and take a caution. But I know, while I may have made impact with one of them, it felt like being abducted and yes, the precursor to the rape ironicallyl So I think I'll let them take it to court and take my sentence if found guilty.

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 03:34

I have 13 and a half hours until D-day. Not a chance of sleep.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 06/12/2018 03:43

Even if you can't sleep, Thejezebel, try to get some rest. Flowers

Time40 · 06/12/2018 03:46

Yes, I'm with the others - I don't think you should accept a caution, either. Good luck.

I'm awake because I'm a night owl, but my sleeping pattern is particularly bad at the moment. I'm going to feel tired about 6am, but the danger is that I will sleep through my three alarm clocks all ringing away right next to my head, and I won't get up until about 11, and so the miserable cycle will continue until I can manage to break it. My trouble is that days aren't long enough to get tired in. If a day was about 30 hours long, I would be fine.
