After Christmas I'm starting again with mine. I'm changing the dark grey/blue corner sofa, getting rid of the Ikea bookcases and repainting the nearly white walls. Only problem is I don't know what I'm changing them all to!

I'm (probably) keeping the wooden floorboards, and definitely keeping the tiles around the fireplace.

Any ideas?

Prismwitch -just got fed up with the leaves! I'd love to see how it looks in someone else's house pretty please . Some lovely rooms here!

First pic yesterday morning, second in afternoon. Nearly finished myself off getting it all pulled back together. Am slightly disappointed that the green in the paper and blinds doesn’t blend as well as I’d hoped but doubt anyone else will be remotely interested!

Bucking the grey trend...

Very much still a work in progress after doing a whole house renovation. But about 85% done....it's about handles and cupboard lighting and getting the pictures up and curtains hung now. But we like it....and I guess that's what's important

I never knew you could get living room envy til now!

We are renting at the moment while our new house is being built so I don’t consider it mine but these pics of my mums which i adore!!

This is mine. A 1930’s terrace. I like traditional styling, so it would help you if you try to find a style you like, then you can go from there. There is also a great website called Houzz which has thousands of decor photos, as well as articles and an Advice page where anyone can ask for help and advice on decor, like you have done on here! I am addicted to Houzz and it’s all free. One pic is my living room and the other is with Xmas decs.

This reminds me that I must take new pics of my dining room now that the hideous chandelier has been banished!

So excited to decorate for Christmas for the first time in this house. It is interesting to figure out how to place old things in totally new surroundings.

Hi Op, yy looking at Rightmove, houzz, pininterest & maybe some interior magazines, you can get reasonably priced ones like home style/your home which might help.
This is mine a through room then doors going into the kit/diner it’s a Victorian house, all of the furniture is second hand picked up from mainly charity/secondhand shops & painted.

Posted to soon, meant to add sofas are from sofa.com & are very comfy & have worn well, the walls are a stone colour but am going to repaint in mizzle after Christmas as it needs a freshen up, hopefully will go ok with the greigy sofas & carpet.

as a pp said, I went for the thing that was definietly staying. In our case two huge sofas donated by my brother (we had just come back from living overseas and had no furniture)

They were dark red.
So I then found some curtain fabric on ebay, huge floor to ceiling curtains round a parge bay, so they are quite a feature.
Hated most of the curtains with red in them, then found some with soft flowers, looking like watercolour painted, in large saoft modern design. Dark creamy colours and charcoal grey stems on the flowers.
So walls dark cream, carpet dark cream, and then charcoal grey accessories, including an armchair.

The colour on the sofas and curtains are balanced by the neutral walls, and the charcoal armchair gives it some depth.

Black woodburner, old indian wood coffee table and massive wall hanging in same colours, finishes off.

(but one wall is floor to ceiling bookshelves)

You ain't seeing my livin room because mine isnt anywhere near to your level of standards.

I keep thinking it's only a matter of time before a living room shows up a golly on a shelf!! Glad that's not the case (so far!) 😅

We usually have a red leather armchair and stool where the Christmas tree is

I quite like different chairs/sofas so when we redocorate im going to get two different but similar sofas so we can replace them evey few years separately....if that makes sense
