Yes or no? & where in the country are you?

No. But I won't last much longer. South East

Ours has been on since September. I'm really struggling this year, I just can't seem to heat the house up. We've never had this problem before and yet the weather doesn't feel any colder than previous years. I'm baffled. Confused

Will be going out later to get some logs for the log burner to give us a bit more warmth.

SavageBeauty73 · 22/11/2018 10:28

London. Mine's been on a while.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 22/11/2018 10:30

Yes. It is -1 here. Heating is on all year round though, it comes on first thing in the morning for showers and to dry post shower towels. Even in high summer it can be a bit chilly at 6am.

LoubyLou1234 · 22/11/2018 11:05

If it feels chilly in the house the heating goes on, we've no thermostat atm. It's on the jobs list. I put it on for a good 2-3 hours at a time so it warms the house through. If it's very cold I leave it on longer..:.I also seem to feel the cold more than my other half. I wear jumpers, slippers etc. Not ever on over night. Mostly first thing in a morning and in the evening.

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 22/11/2018 11:07

It's never really off. If it ever drops below 18, at night it will kick in and the same for 21 in the day if we're in. We turned it off during the heatwave this summer but it was back on in August.
It was on most of the night last night (up from 3-6 with DD) and temperatures only hit 0 here at 9am. So it will have been below freezing last night. That's far too cold to be braving it out Confused

WhoTookTheCookie · 22/11/2018 11:39

I've had ours on for months now.

It's currently on 25 degrees and the house still has a chill.
It's relatively new and the layout makes it an open space, impossible to heat properly.

I refuse to be cold in my own home.

CookPassBabtridge · 22/11/2018 11:41

Ours is on a lot, live in North Yorkshire surrounded by fields.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 22/11/2018 11:44

Yes! We're in Kent and my DD and I have just been cold. DH thinks we're being silly.

Dowser · 22/11/2018 11:45

It’s never off...if I. Cold in July ...it goes one.
Why be cold?
Unless you can’t afford to put it on...that’s a different matter.

CookPassBabtridge · 22/11/2018 11:45

It's definitely colder this year, we moved in this time last year and we were in garden a lot, sitting on grass putting flatpack together, chatting to neighbours over hedge, mowing lawn etc. Now it's bitterly cold, constantly wet, misty, grass is boggy.. it is proper wintery already.

WhyDidIEatThat · 22/11/2018 11:51

Central heating still a novelty to me, it’s only been installed for about 4 or 5 years (out of around 25 years of living here) and I swing between surges of gratitude for it, wondering how I survived without it and shock at expense and how rubbish it is once it gets properly cold unless set very high 24/7

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 22/11/2018 12:13

I’m getting JL targeted ads for Dyson heaters on the bottom of this thread Grin

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 22/11/2018 13:04

I'm getting ads for bikes - do you think it's hinting get off your arse and exercise, that'll soon warm you up!

I'm not long home from work and eating my lunch under a sleeping bag. 14 degrees in the house which is a degree or two warmer than recently but it's so damp outside it feels colder. Would love to be able to turn the heating on but can't afford it right now.

Until the council put this stupid wood pellet system in at least we had the fire and could keep one room warm. And living fairly rurally you can always get wood.

NoWayNoHow · 22/11/2018 13:18

Erm, yes. -1.5 this morning. How much colder would it need to be?!

Lucisky · 22/11/2018 15:05

I've got a picture of a coffin at the bottom of mine...

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 22/11/2018 15:12

A coffin?!

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 22/11/2018 18:11

A coffin!?

I now have Mr Central Heating

Rockbird · 22/11/2018 18:36

Yes, for about the last month. -2 here this morning and bloody freezing. Surrey.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/11/2018 19:32

My heating has just... died🥶. I’m not happy.

Cakemonger · 22/11/2018 20:54

God yes. Midlands.

Powerless · 22/11/2018 20:54

Yet?! It's been on since end of October!

Powerless · 22/11/2018 20:54

Oh and am in North Yorkshire x

Powerless · 22/11/2018 20:56

@Lucisky That proper made me laugh out loud! A bloody Coffin!

Powerless · 22/11/2018 20:57

@CookPassBabtridge Anywhere near H-Gate?

Orangepear · 22/11/2018 21:06

The batteries went flat in my thermostat sometime today, when I got home this evening it was 12.5! It's warmed up a degree per hour, so now 16. I'm going to bed!
