Yes or no? & where in the country are you?

No. But I won't last much longer. South East

Never have it off ☹️ The joys of being in the very North of Scotland...

Xiaoxiong · 21/11/2018 19:41

It will be -2c tonight here in East Berks, so yes.

ginghambox · 21/11/2018 19:45

Wenttoseainasieve You must live in the wrong bit, not gone below 6 degrees here.

ShatnersBassoon · 21/11/2018 19:46

This is so exciting! I can't wait to find out which MNer is going to win Heating Refuser, Winter 2018/19.

Mine's on. I'm never going to get that trophy.

Rottie454 · 21/11/2018 19:47

Yes!! South West. Had it on the past month Grin

WhyDidIEatThat · 21/11/2018 19:48

Fuck yes. East Anglia. It’s been on for weeks, house still very cold though (hard to heat). I’m wearing lots of layers and have additional plug in oil filled radiator on the go. And a heated throw 😳

LoniceraJaponica · 21/11/2018 19:49

Ah, the regular competitive MN who can be a martyr to the cold debate Hmm

"No. But I won't last much longer. South East"

Well bully for you. Do you want a medal?

Ours has a thermostat and comes on when it is cold, and doesn’t when it isn’t. Not difficult to get your head round is it?

It has been 3 degrees here in South Yorkshire today, so of course the heating has been on. I’m not “well ‘ard innit”

Sallystyle · 21/11/2018 19:49

Yes, it has been about 6-8c here the last couple of days. 2c overnight.

It has been on for a few weeks here and there.

WhyDidIEatThat · 21/11/2018 19:52

Maybe those people live in new or really well insulated houses or flats? My oldest daughter never needs the heating on in her triple glazed cozy flat Envy it just magically stays warm

sossages · 21/11/2018 19:53

I would if I had any. Fucking storage heaters seemed like such a good idea when we viewed this place IN JULY. I've had to buy a special blanket for sitting on the sofa and I may not survive the winter.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 21/11/2018 19:54

Yep, full blast. Also have thermal socks on and am drinking ovaltine right now. It’s freezing

Believeitornot · 21/11/2018 19:54

I’m in the south east. Unless you’ve got a south facing house with super insulation, why would you keep the heating off???

anniehm · 21/11/2018 19:55

Been on in the morning for a month, evening for this week, plus that cold snap a month ago. Midlands, it's freezing tonight, literally (forecast is minus 2)

BaconFart · 21/11/2018 19:56

Freezing here in north east, my heating set to 18. Turn it off completely for bed and back on again to 18 next morning.

Anything above 18 is uncomfortable! How people heat to 25 baffles me

SmilingButClueless · 21/11/2018 19:56

Yes. We had a tiny bit of snow this morning (South East) but it’s been on most days for a couple of weeks now.

FeckingEjit · 21/11/2018 19:56

@ginghambox it's freezing in Lancashire! Mines been set to 24 since September Shock

LoniceraJaponica · 21/11/2018 19:57

"Anything above 18 is uncomfortable!"

No it isn't. 18 degrees for sitting still and watching TV is too cool for me. It's fine for moving around in though. Ours is set at 21.

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 21/11/2018 19:58

Been down to -7 here. Can't afford to have the heating on much so the house is regularly 12 or 13 degrees during the day. We have the thermostat on at 16 in the evening.

PlatypusPie · 21/11/2018 19:58

It was 1C and I had to, not exactly scrape, more move out of the way, a thin layer of ice of the car early this am, in SW London. Heating was certainly on in the house.

By mid afternoon, car external temp reading 16 on way home and turned central heating way down as vigourous bit of stair cleaning made me hot - and I got two lines worth of washing dried outside in the sun.

It’s all a bit mixed atm. Thermostat set to just below 20C this evening and very comfortable - we don’t have it on overnight, ever - plus point of solid Victorian terraced house.

Going to seek out the gloves and hats later.

BitchQueen90 · 21/11/2018 19:58

@sossages I've lived with storage heaters for 4 years. Layers are your friend! We have 2 duvets in the winter and use plug in heaters.

Can't afford to move (I rent) so we put up with it. I actually paid to have carpet put in DS's bedroom (with landlord permission - the rest of the flat is laminate) just so at least his room would be a bit warmer.

anniehm · 21/11/2018 19:59

It's set at 18, but we use blankets as well because it never gets that warm due to large old house and my refusal to have heating on for more than an hour in the am and 3 in the afternoon/evening due to high cost. Have coal fire for sub zero

DaphneBroonsHandbag · 21/11/2018 19:59

Ours is on constantly, if it goes below 15 degrees in summer it comes on and 22 degrees in winter during the day. We have open fires that are lit at night in the kitchen and sitting room so it rarely clicks on at night.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 21/11/2018 20:00

Yes in a poorly insulated student house in York

GoodnightMooncup · 21/11/2018 20:00

Yes, it snowed last night! We're in the south east.

LIZS · 21/11/2018 20:00

Yes on timer, 20o c unless I boost it.
