DS found suitcases on slip road.

DS 20 was on an A road slip road. There were two suitcases dumped on the carriageway. Other cars were slamming on the anchors or swerving at the last minute. It was safe for him to stop so he retrieved them and brought them home.

They're both PU leather and look to be 70s vintage. The most important thing though is he opened one and saw a bundle of fur in there, 'Oh God, it's a dead animal.'

My reaction was, 'We'll have to report it if that's the case.'

I want to give him credit because he immediately took it outside to investigate. He was calm and collected when he came back with a fox fur stole, presumably the same vintage as the luggage.

Now I want to have a go at him for clearing the carriageway. His face and his actions when he saw the fur, though, made me so proud.

If, indeed, there would have been £kkk or dumped pets in there we'd be waiting here for CID.

It was probably fly tipping. There's always a story about fly tipped baby animals around Christmas. Please don't let it happen anywhere near where you live.

Maybe it was an amateur theatre co trying to get too many props into a trailer. If so I've got your fur stole and the plastic suitcases in the garden.

This reminds me of the style of another poster...have you name changed recently OP?

tararabumdeay · 18/11/2018 22:14

Nope not name changed. The original point of the post was how we were relieved that the contents were just a fur stole after DS had faced a possibly more gruesome discovery with courage and composure.

This must be a bizarre wind up.

Are you really proud of your 20-year-old son for not screaming, weeping or fainting when he found a fur stole?

It’s quite entertaining though. Particularly with the bit about the slip road.

tararabumdeay · 18/11/2018 22:33

I don't suppose my 20 year old had ever encountered a fur stole before. No wonder he was surprised.

I, on the other hand, being the daughter of a long line of luvvies, recognised it straight away.

But was it a slip road? Or a lay-by?

If it was a lay-by why were cars braking and swerving? Was it a procession of doggers driving into the lay-by at speed, desperate for some action?

That might begin to explain the outré contents. Had your DS stumbled over something more exotic than we first thought? Could he even be implicated?

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 22:50

Oi Kissing can I have my baby ostriches back now?

DonaldDucksTowel · 18/11/2018 22:51

This is a really really weird thread

KissingInTheRain · 18/11/2018 22:59

Sadly not. I released them into the wild. Apparently they’re still seen now again pecking around the slip road.

The trunk was top quality. I’m keeping that.

Bezalelle · 18/11/2018 23:05

Are you quite alright, OP?

Urbanbeetler · 18/11/2018 23:05

A lay-by on the slipway?

Bags of furs?

Advice telling us to avoid abandoned animals in our area?

I’m having connection problems.

KissingInTheRain · 18/11/2018 23:08

Got it.

Confused
DerekTheWonderdog · 18/11/2018 23:12

I found 78pence once, piled up neatly in a field. I bought a hamster and a Fab. I had 33pence left so I put it in my money box for a rainy day.

If the Fox was in one suitcase what was in the other?

KissingInTheRain · 18/11/2018 23:13

How much was the Fab?

Urbanbeetler · 18/11/2018 23:14

45p for a fab? You woz robbed.

Urbanbeetler · 18/11/2018 23:14

Oh hang on a fab AND a hamster. You wozn’t robbed.

DerekTheWonderdog · 18/11/2018 23:15

The Fab was 8p.

DerekTheWonderdog · 18/11/2018 23:16

The hamster was 37p. He was called Simon.

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 23:16

@DerekTheWonderdog you put a hamster in your money box? Will I think we're getting closer to solving the fox in a box riddle.

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 23:17
  • well
KissingInTheRain · 18/11/2018 23:17

So you bought a hamster for 37p? Bargain!

DerekTheWonderdog · 18/11/2018 23:20

To be fair, it was a biiiggg money box. In fact more of an empty box.

My mum wasn't very pleased because my bargain Simon then needed a cage and all of the paraphernalia to go with it. Took me a lot of potato peeling and hoovering to pay of that debt, in fact I think I was still paying it off after Simon had gone to the big hamster desert in the sky 🐹

DerekTheWonderdog · 18/11/2018 23:22

This was a long, long time ago ....

Havn't the baby ostriches become big ostriches now and a bit of a concern with regards to road safety? Do they wear hi biz jackets?

forgotmyusername · 18/11/2018 23:25

Cancel the cheque OP

You can pay in fox fur stole

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 23:25

Did Simon go to the hamster desert in the sky, or a layby near a slip road (where the ostriches live)?
