Any bands you wish you'd seen in their heyday?

For me it's Queen & Michael Jackson. Listening to Queen a lot before I see Bohemian Rhapsody & they are just so good!

We had tickets to see Michael Jackson just before he died, I was gutted I'll never see him live.

Any others?

Led Zeppelin will always be number one for me.

Followed very closely by Michael Jackson.

chocolateworshipper · 09/11/2018 10:11

Exactly the same as you OP. I would have loved to have seen Queen, and I also had tickets to see Michael before he died.

TinyRick · 09/11/2018 10:12

Nirvana

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/11/2018 10:13

LOL, Queen and Michael Jackson!

One of DS's teachers has recently got him massively into Michael Jackson. He loves the music - can't get enough of it!

And now DH and I are trying to figure out whether our two are too young to watch Bohemian Rhapsody.

scaredofthecity · 09/11/2018 10:13

Definately Queen for me. I've loved them since I was a kid, and Freddie M was such an amazing entertainer.

Did you see This Is It? MJ would have been epic but he also looked incredibly frail.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 09/11/2018 10:16

The Who in the 70s.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 09/11/2018 10:17

Oh and Prince in the 80s.

Crusoe · 09/11/2018 10:17

Lucky enough to have seen Queen twice, would have loved to see The Who.

n0ne · 09/11/2018 10:19

David Bowie, Queen, George Michael, Jimi Hendrix (if I had a time machine!), Bob Marley

I did, it would have been an amazing show but he definitely didn't look up to it unfortunately.

I'm also glad I saw Five in the first Big Reunion tour because I loved them when I was a teenager.

Queen is the only music I remember hearing at home growing up, DD isn't a fan yet though!

Pink floyd
David bowie
Ac/dc (I know they're still around but they're not the same)
Elvis
Queen looked like they put on a great show
And for a real time machine one Beethoven. If the history books are to be believed his concerts were quite special.

crow2018 · 09/11/2018 10:29

Queen and David Bowie ❤️

Meat Loaf, I went to see Bat out of hell last night now I can't stop listening to the soundtrack 😂

BillywigSting · 09/11/2018 10:30

I saw the who about ten years ago and was bitterly disappointed. They were, (whisper it), boring

HotSauceCommittee · 09/11/2018 10:34

Beastie Boys, Stone Roses, Prince.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 09/11/2018 10:35

I was a teenager in the 90s and wish I'd got to see any of those Britpop bands, particularly Blur.

I did get to see Sia many years ago on the Thekla in Bristol which was bloody awesome and I can't believe where she is now.

MoonriseKingdom · 09/11/2018 10:35

The Who at their peak. I also saw them about 10 years ago obviously minus 2 members which was definitely not the same.

Queen - watching Bohemian Rhapsody at the cinema has reminded me how brilliant they were

snop · 09/11/2018 10:36

The first one I thought of was queen here too

Crusoe · 09/11/2018 10:36

Oh yes I should have added AC/DC and Pink Floyd.
Relieved to hear The Who weren’t all that!
I saw Meatloaf years ago - have to say that was a bit of a disappointment.

vampirethriller · 09/11/2018 10:37

Queen!

GoldenBuns · 09/11/2018 10:38

The Pixies, with Kim Deal in the line-up.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

I missed the opportunity to see Nirvana at Reading - I think it may have been around 1993? The entire festival went in one direction to see Nirvana, and I went in the other direction to see a band called the Rockingbirds! There were four of us in the tent, including a very drunk boy who had lost his shoes. I was never a fan of Nirvana (clearly) but I kind of regret missing it.

MoonriseKingdom · 09/11/2018 10:39

Also Cream. I saw Ginger Baker playing a few years back. He was not in a good mood. There is a fascinating documentary about him if you like that sort of music.

BillywigSting · 09/11/2018 10:40

I saw meatloaf a few years ago too in Liverpool and have to say was very entertained, despite his music not being my favourite, the show was exactly that, a show rather than a just a gig.

It involved classic cars, motorcycles and flamethrowers on the stage.

Dychmygol · 09/11/2018 10:42

Queen!

Nquartz · 09/11/2018 10:42

Juni

I was also into all that kind of music, never saw Blur unfortunately but saw Oasis at Knebworth in 1996, they were fantastic. Saw them again 12/13(?) years ago in Nottingham, not quite the same atmosphere but still good.

Queen! My parents went to Live Aid and said they were the best band they’d ever seen. They had tickets to see them at Wembley the following year but my mam had terrible morning sickness in early pregnancy with my brother so they didn’t go - I would have left her and gone if I was my dad Shock Grin

I’d love to have seen The Beatles but not in the crowds of screaming girls, perhaps the rooftop performance Grin

Bowie, Iggy Pop, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones (can’t afford a ticket nowadays!)...
