Any bands you wish you'd seen in their heyday?

For me it's Queen & Michael Jackson. Listening to Queen a lot before I see Bohemian Rhapsody & they are just so good!

We had tickets to see Michael Jackson just before he died, I was gutted I'll never see him live.

Any others?

I was also really into Meatloaf as a young teen (my brother told me last week he was sick of me playing his albums repeatedly back then), I didn't know he was still active.

(Off I go to google if he's ever touring again)

For me definitely Queen - I saw Queen + Adam Lambert in July and it was good - but it just emphasised how amazing they must have been with Freddie Mercury.

Also Meat Loaf.

VillersBretonneux · 09/11/2018 10:46

Queen

DennisIsABastardMan · 09/11/2018 10:46

The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan in the 60s when he still gave a shit - saw him 10 years ago and it was awful.

Rockbird · 09/11/2018 10:47

Would love to have seen Queen.

I saw Michael Jackson at Wembley. He wasn't great, sang a song every once in a while and either disappeared off stage or skulked in a corner in between. We came away very deflated and wondering what the fuss was about.

Rockbird · 09/11/2018 10:50

Was at the Pink floyd gig at Earl's Court where the seating collapsed. That was fun...

Bob Dylan was so boring/stoned/clueless that half the audience left halfway through. We clung on but even my dad who is a big Dylan fan admitted he was shit.

BeyondVicious · 09/11/2018 10:52

I will forever kick myself that I didn't see Soundgarden. Can't now :(

MoonriseKingdom · 09/11/2018 10:53

Bob Dylan was so boring/stoned/clueless that half the audience left halfway through. We clung on but even my dad who is a big Dylan fan admitted he was shit.

I saw Bob Dylan supported by Van Morrison about 20 years ago and he was on top form.

However I’ve heard he’s either amazing or absolutely shit and you just take your chance as to which one he’ll be on the day.

Fleetwood Mac (during the stevie nicks/Lindsay Buckingham fight days). They do still tour with slightly different line up but I'm worried if I go it'll shatter the illusion.

Queen.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 09/11/2018 11:03

Talking Heads - the Stop Making Sense tour

Abba

I did see Pink Floyd at Wembley in the 1980s, possibly their first tour without Roger Waters. It was great Grin and very hot. A tall skinny bloke fainted and concertina-ed down on me.

RusholmeRuffian · 09/11/2018 11:11

The Smiths
Joy Division
The Clash

Dremelza · 09/11/2018 11:42

I missed the opportunity to see Nirvana at Reading - I think it may have been around 1993? The entire festival went in one direction to see Nirvana, and I went in the other direction to see a band called the Rockingbirds! There were four of us in the tent, including a very drunk boy who had lost his shoes. I was never a fan of Nirvana (clearly) but I kind of regret missing it.^

Ahh that's even worse than missing it entirely!! Not sure I'd ever recover from that Grin

I was a big Who fan as a teenager, used to watch them Tuesday nights in the Marquee. I saw most of the sixties groups but preferred stuff you could dance to. The best live act I ever saw was Geno Washington.

I'm very old. Wink

Bombaybunty · 09/11/2018 12:23

Frank Sinatra
Sex Pistols
George Michael

I was lucky enough to have seen David Bowie several times.
