Well that was awkward

Having Sunday lunch, today and we got talking with Ds11, about 'snitching '. He was very vocal about his dislike of snitches. He said that he knew a secret about Dh, and he wouldn't tell, as Dh wouldn't like it. After much hilarity and Dh insisting that he had no secrets from me, and that he wouldn't be at bothered if Ds shared the secret, Ds blurts out that while using Dh's phone, to watch YouTube, he discovered that Dh's last search had been Tess Daley's tits..... Without missing a beat, Dh said, 'I'll get my coat...'I nearly wet myself

I think this thread wins the Mumsnet ‘Po-Face’ award for 2018 does it not?

Antigon · 05/11/2018 13:39

@Dorsetdays

You said 'The DH was really awkward and said he’d get his coat. That’s the part the OP said made her nearly wet herself'

And then you say 'No, the hilarity referred to in the thread was before the secret was revealed, not afterwards!'

An you not see how contradictory your posts are?!

Anyway it's not a big deal, and OP has said it was the look on DH's face that made her laugh, so it's all good.

Dorsetdays · 05/11/2018 13:54

Yes OP clarified it was exactly as I said. Read her original post. The ‘hilarity’ with the DS was before the revelation. Once they knew this it was the DH’s awkwardness that made her ‘nearly wet herself’.

Nothing contradictory in my posts at all Smile

fruitshot · 05/11/2018 13:56

Jeez, MN has some massive sticks up their arses.

OP, I laughed.
My 11 yr old would've probably decided to discuss this more and we would've both laughed at my husband.

ShotsFired · 05/11/2018 14:10

Hmm It's not about being "po-faced" or having "sticks up arses", it's just not seeing why such a mundane event as described was so pant-wettingly hilarious.

It's a bit like if you are the third wheel in a foreign language conversation - if they find something funny you can smile along politely but you really have no clue what is making them laugh (and even if they translate, the joke might not).

Dorsetdays · 05/11/2018 14:17

Shotsfired. Think the point though is that, just because you don’t find it funny or don’t understand it, it doesn’t mean it’s wrong that the OP and others do.

If you don’t get it, then why bother commenting...unless you’re just trying to make the OP (& others who did find it funny) feel like terrible parents/misogynists/perverts* (delete as appropriate) Hmm

Antigon · 05/11/2018 14:32

@Doesetdays

But I wasn't asking when the hilarity happened, I asked what made OP nearly wet herself and OP said it was the look on DH's face, which presumably was after the tits comment.

I asked OP a question and she answered. I don't know why you're clucking around the OP like a mother hen, she is more than capable of answering herself!

fruitshot · 05/11/2018 14:32

@ShotsFired agreed.

Think you might've missed some the hysterical replies above though 😬

ShotsFired · 05/11/2018 14:34

Where have I said it was "wrong" (let alone your peculiar suggestion re "parents/misogynists/perverts"!)? I was trying to understand, actually. Maybe I was missing some key element where it would make sense to me/pp and "translate" the joke for me!

And me doing that - on a chat forum designed for it - is no worse than people accusing anyone who isn't instantly rolling in the aisles of having a stick up their arse, surely? I'm clearly far from the only one who is a little bemused here.

Dorsetdays · 05/11/2018 14:43

Shots. I wasn’t referring solely to ‘you’, I meant everyone on here who has said those things. Fine if you don’t think it’s funnny. Fine if you don’t get it. But imo you (meaning other posters) don’t need to comment nastily or in a derogatory way at all then.

Antigon. No clucking going on here. You’re misunderstanding what I said so it’s ok for me to clarify that. You did make reference previously to it being off that they (inferring the OP, her DH and DS) were all laughing about what had been googled. Which wasn’t correct, as has been clarified by several people.

@Hanski444 OMG you got deleted!! high five

hellhavenofury · 08/11/2018 13:28

People are so up themselves!! I would of thought it was very funny and awkward most of all for your DH. Next time he should delete his history, kids dont miss anything Grin
