Well that was awkward

Having Sunday lunch, today and we got talking with Ds11, about 'snitching '. He was very vocal about his dislike of snitches. He said that he knew a secret about Dh, and he wouldn't tell, as Dh wouldn't like it. After much hilarity and Dh insisting that he had no secrets from me, and that he wouldn't be at bothered if Ds shared the secret, Ds blurts out that while using Dh's phone, to watch YouTube, he discovered that Dh's last search had been Tess Daley's tits..... Without missing a beat, Dh said, 'I'll get my coat...'I nearly wet myself

I've decided to give him another chance. Ds has gone to bed happy, and my kitchen is spotless. Every cloud

So if I watch porn and look up men am I objectifying men?? Double standards because I bet not .. I

I thought it was funny OP ^^

SundayGirls · 04/11/2018 22:58

I thought it was funny. It's not my DH though, so maybe I wouldn't find it as funny if it was!

bellsbuss · 04/11/2018 22:59

I found it funny OP

Yabbers · 04/11/2018 23:12

I laughed. Mostly at OH’s reaction.

TBF “Tess Daily’s tits” is a pretty poor porn search, there’s surely better stuff out there to be looking for?

Sure, it doesn’t make for the best discussion in front of an 11 year old and he should be more careful. He’s clearly pretty good at cleaning, just remind him to do the same to his search history.

ohnothanks · 04/11/2018 23:18

I'm imagining a party/ wedding/ event....Pictish and friends, I'll be drinking the prosecco with you. We're going to have fun while the others turn themselves inside out in abject horror at our wanton immorality

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 04/11/2018 23:28

Have you guys never been 11 before? Not being funny but I was masturbating at that age. The boy will know what tits are and will probably have searched for them himself. Not saying it's legal but let's be realistic!

OP, I thought it was funny!

librarylover53 · 04/11/2018 23:39

Not offensive at all Dorset, it's a completely natural act. It's the need to tell MN how you joke about it as you're just so darn cool that I find, well, rather juvenile?

AGHHHH · 04/11/2018 23:41

Oh god. Grin

TSSDNCOP · 04/11/2018 23:46

Tess Daly really?

DS would’ve been mortified as he can’t understsnd every single week why, given she still can’t read autocue, she’s still got the Strictly job.

TiredPony · 05/11/2018 00:24

I thought it was really funny when google showed my exH was looking up Anna Friel naked when we first moved in together. When I found out he was a porn addict and we got divorced it was less so.

Library. I think the poster was simply demonstrating that she, and others around her, found it funny like the OP did.

hiddeneverything · 05/11/2018 06:43

That's very funny!

nottakingthisanymore · 05/11/2018 06:49

Yuk! Not funny at all- especially as it involves your son.

FireworksAndSparklers · 05/11/2018 06:56

"Yes, some people find their OH looking up celebrity tits dreadful, disrespectful and A Serious Issue for their relationship. And they're allowed to feel that way. For some other people, it's a non-issue and they know they have a perfectly secure relationship even if their OH googles famous norks - and that's fine for them."

This is missing the point. We are far from prudish in our household and laugh a lot. But men googling women's breasts are a symptom of a very screwed up culture. I can accept that the current generation of dads of young children may still be stuck in the dark ages and not yet changed in their understanding of misogyny and rape culture, but they should be actively trying to learn and to think and do better. Condoning such behaviour in front of boys teaches them a dangerous disregard of women as human beings, reducing them solely to their bodies. And doing so in front of girls shows them that it is their bodies and looks that have value in this world, not their minds and hearts. I'm sure your DHs who look up women's tits online are not rapists or see themselves as sexist, but it is actually incredibly sexist and perpetuates a culture that is harmful to women and men.

ShotsFired · 05/11/2018 07:00

I too am a bit confused as to the hilarity level - what was it about this quite dull exchange that nearly made you wet yourself?

And why was your husband saying "I'll get my coat" so hysterical? It's not exactly comeback of the year, is it.

If it had been funny it might make more sense. But as you tell it, it's just confusing.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 05/11/2018 07:25

I’m not sure what it is that people don’t get. It was funny because he told his son he had nothing to hide and therefore when pushed the son released some embarrassing information. Hardly anything bad but funny none the less. I’ve searched for naked celebrities men and women. Then again, I also watch porn sometimes so I’m just the worst really.

Antigon · 05/11/2018 07:43

@Dorsetdays

Antigon. If you read the post it’s very clear. The DH was really awkward and said he’d get his coat. That’s the part the OP said made her nearly wet herself...probably laughing at his complete mortification?

If you read the post it's clear that DH said 'I'll get my coat' after the Tess Daley's tits comment.

But OP said she laughed before either comment.

OP, thanks for explaining.

Dorsetdays · 05/11/2018 08:32

Antigon. No, the hilarity referred to in the thread was before the secret was revealed, not afterwards! The OP then found her DH’s reaction (awkwardness) amusing.

Nothing in the OP’s post suggests for a second that she found it funny her DS had seen her DH’s history. If you read her other posts you’ll also see that they used the situation to have a wider conversation around the internet etc. Sounds like good parenting in my books.

I’m assuming everyone on here digging out the OP has never made a single mistake? It’s very clear the DH didn’t deliberately show the DC what he’d googled, it was an accident fgs!

lilyblue5 · 05/11/2018 11:53

I thought this was funny OP. Children know all our secrets!

ADastardlyThing · 05/11/2018 12:18

I thought it was funny. I remember my DS, 9, asking who Terry Wogan was. I was puzzled but assumed he'd heard his name from a teacher or something.

Oh no. Turns out my bloody iPad came up with "Terry Wogans cock outline" when he was messing about with it. I'd had lunch with a friend at my house the week before and we'd been howling at That pic of dear Terry Blush. So thankful he didn't suss out what was actually so funny about it!
