A few of you may have had a DH/DP since then. Wink

Not me, quite. But it struck me last night that my favourite fluffy Christy bath towel is now 20 yrs old.

So is a watch I wear every day that my parents bought me.

A couple of baking trays too.

They've stood the test of time.

Can you tell me what I need to add to my indestructible domestic list?

Many thanks.

The saucepan set I am still using was a wedding present 27 years ago - one lid has been replaced, but otherwise going strong.

Twice last week my best dog-walking fleece was admired; I remember wearing it during at least one pregnancy, and my DC are now 16 and 20.

Also, I recently brought my Sony mini hi-fi system out of retirement so I could play my 80s vinyl collection. I left it with my parents when leaving the country nearly 24 years ago, so it must be more than 25 years old, and has been used occasionally all that time. The tape player has packed up, but the turntable and CD player are still working fine.

4yearsnosleep · 04/11/2018 19:53

My mum still has my old cd/radio/tape player that I got 22 years ago. She listens too it everyday!

BikeRunSki · 04/11/2018 19:54

I had my swimming towel at school.
I left school in 1989, and I think I probably got it nearer 1984.

SuperSuperSuper · 04/11/2018 19:54

Clothes from the mid 1990s, including Armani jeans, a Levi's jacket, a Barbour jacket, Hunter wellies, Gucci loafers, a Janet Reger nightdress, a Joseph dress. None of them "fashionable" so have dated ok.

No electricals, unfortunately although my parents still have their hi-fi from the early 1980s, including tape deck!

I've just remembered a set of wind-up chattering teeth that I bought in a joke shop in Bournemouth in around 1980. My younger DS was playing with them a few years ago, along with my old Rubik Cube.

CarrotCakeMuffins · 04/11/2018 19:58

I got my Grandad's electric mixer when he died nearly 30 years ago. No idea how long he had had it before that. Its still going strong & I use it for making cakes.

woodhill · 04/11/2018 19:59

Still have my Le Creuset pans and casserole from 1991 plus some wedding gifts

AvoidingDM · 04/11/2018 20:01

My Sony CD, Radio, Cassette player must be 25 years old.
I had a keyboard that was almost 20yo when I fell on it and knocked it off its stand and broke one of the keys.

flapjackfairy · 04/11/2018 20:01

My slow cooker which was an engagement present 31 yrs ago. Goodness I feel old thinking about it ! In fact the slow cooker is in better nick than me to be honest.

iwantasofa · 04/11/2018 20:02

A hand mixer (like for cakes) and a sewing machine, both about 50 yrs old. Work perfectly. Did have a microwave that did 20 years.

AWhistlingWoman · 04/11/2018 20:02

My favourite skirt Shock

Dresses that my nana made for me that my little girls wear now

Think might Dad might have a 20 plus year old Sony Cube!

LightastheBreeze · 04/11/2018 20:05

New World high level gas cooker in brown, keep thinking of changing it but DH likes the grill, I don’t like the white ones so much as our brown one so it would be for a modern cooker.

BrieAndChilli · 04/11/2018 20:06

The kids play my electric keyboard that I had when I was thier age -30 years ago!
I still have my scientific calculator from school so probably about 25 years old.
We have DHs stereo hooks up to the TV and it’s about 20 years old.
My sister has her NES Nintendo console which is about 30 years old now.

4catsaremylife · 04/11/2018 20:07

My dear gran's Kenwood Chef from the early 70s and sandwich cake tins of hers from the 50s and of course myself 😂 I'm practically a museum piece

Tortycat · 04/11/2018 20:08

Various things i bought to go to university including a stereo system, hairdryer and stick blender - all going strong.

I wish i had kept my sony cube! I got rid a few years ago when i wanted a digital radio. bought a fancy roberts version, and i could never find a decent radio station, then dc1 fiddled with the buttons and its never worked at all since. Rubbish!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 04/11/2018 20:10

Our microwave was a wedding present 25 years ago and it's still going strong.
Similarly I have a set of towels that were a wedding present - I think they were from Tesco.
I have some clothes from 25 years ago, sadly I can't fit into them anymore

Ohyesiam · 04/11/2018 20:11

Ive got the first funky vest that m&s ever did, pink and grey stripes with spaghetti straps. I was 12 when I got it, I’m 52 and still wear it now .

It has a st Michael label in it.

MildlyMiserable · 04/11/2018 20:13

I’ve still got the first double duvet set I bought from M&S when I bought my first Flat - 30 years ago, still washes up like new!

LostontheWestway · 04/11/2018 20:16

I've got a grey top from Next that I've had since 1997. It's still in great condition, I've never had to repair a seam or hem. It's kept its shape (it's fairly clingy) and (best of all) I can still fit in it!

TheDogAteMySock · 04/11/2018 20:16

My bamix stick blender is getting on for 20 years old. It still gets used few times each week and just keeps on doing is thing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/11/2018 20:18

A VORWERK Kobold vacuum cleaner. Bought by my MIL for herself in I think the 1970, abducted by DH for his first flat and still working 2 moves on.

grannybiker · 04/11/2018 20:18

A 1980 Harley Sportster and a Kenwood Cookpot (Slow-cooker) Of the same vintage. We were married in 1980, so obviously a good year ;)

TheDogAteMySock · 04/11/2018 20:19

This thread reminds me of Only Fools and Horses and Trigger's 12 year old broom, that's only had 2 new handles and 4 new heads
