A few of you may have had a DH/DP since then. Wink

Not me, quite. But it struck me last night that my favourite fluffy Christy bath towel is now 20 yrs old.

So is a watch I wear every day that my parents bought me.

A couple of baking trays too.

They've stood the test of time.

Can you tell me what I need to add to my indestructible domestic list?

Many thanks.

A set of cream horns and square cake tins that my granny and her cousin nearly came to blows over when their aunt died (my great, great aunt!) they’re ancient, but still going strong.

Powerless · 04/11/2018 21:39

Oh! A cheap knife from Asda that, despite never having been sharpened, is THE best at cutting veg! Or anything for that matter. It's amazing I love it. Bought 2001 (so not quite 20 years, but nearly!)

anniehm · 04/11/2018 21:41

I have saucepans that are 18 years old, I have linens that are 80 years old (inherited). Not much else due to multiple intercontinental moves

anniehm · 04/11/2018 21:42

Sorry thought of something, tent!

Willow2017 · 04/11/2018 21:42

Some enamel baking tins inherited from my grand mother

I have enamel pie tins too.

Also baby towels, the ones with the hooded corner. My eldest is 16😀 i use them for wrapou g my hair in after a shower. Some still look like new.

LEMtheoriginal · 04/11/2018 21:45

I have a log burner called stanley - best thing we ever bought.

Dp still has his mountain bike he bought before we met 26 years ago! It looks like new - say no more!

Sofas - leather, coming to the end of their lives

Bed - new matress though!!

Oh and DP still functions at an acceptable level Grin

LEMtheoriginal · 04/11/2018 21:47

Had our car nearly 14 years - it was 8 years old when we bought it!

Willow2017 · 04/11/2018 21:49

Mainly Tupperware which she bought as a new wife/mum in the 70's, the usual tubs etc but also a very 70's orange mixing bow

Forgot the Tupperware! I still have some of mums. I use the cake 'base' and its airtight cover for every birthday and Christmas cake😀 although the cover has a small hole now as left it too near the cooker😕

Graphista · 04/11/2018 21:54

It's weirdly robust the Tupperware stuff isn't it?!

ladybird69 · 04/11/2018 21:54

I’ve got a clariol big shot hair dryer that I’ve used daily since Christmas 1986, good that curls are back in, and a Sony stacking system from 1990. Both like new! Oh and my first dial telephone now retro 😁

BrickByBrick · 04/11/2018 21:56

I would have just started my 2nd year at uni - I am not sure I have much left from those days. I do still have one of my uni ring binders though, and a few of my old uni books.

I still have my hockey sticks and bag from school, so they will be more than 20 years.

DH on the other hand - we could open a blooming museum.

macnab · 04/11/2018 21:56

A box grater and a large mixing bowl, both bought in Ikea and both have had a LOT of use in the last 20 years. I should buy more in Ikea, DH hates going there so I must remember to use these amazing value buys to convince him how good it is Grin

RoseMartha · 04/11/2018 21:59

My denim jacket is 18 years old
A duvet cover
Some of the furniture
Most kitchen equipment not big items but dishes etc

rainbowlou · 04/11/2018 21:59

My clothes that my daughter now wears as her ‘vintage’ outfits!! (Could cry at the thought that they used to fit me 😢😢)

NotUmbongoUnchained · 04/11/2018 22:02

My grandad got out some colouring pencils for my son today, the same ones I used to use when I was little. Turns out they’re the same pencils that my own mum used when she was little! 50 year old colouring pencils!

tumpymummy · 04/11/2018 22:03

Most of the stuff in our house bar Tv's and mobile phones! Hubby and I have been married over 20 years and together 28 years and haven't really replaced much at all. Even one of our vehicles is 46 years old!

nicebitofquiche · 04/11/2018 22:09

I've just got rid of a saucepan that I'd had for 33 years.

nicebitofquiche · 04/11/2018 22:15

I also have a Denbigh serving dish that is 33 years old that I still use. I have some padded hangers that must be about 35 years old.

Kokapetl · 04/11/2018 22:24

Not much.

Some books, my bike, a couple of mugs, some pens.

I think this reflects my age more than anything else because I was still a child 20 years ago.

BikeRunSki · 04/11/2018 22:27

DD uses s fuvet civet I bought 25 years ago. The doggie duvet covers the dc use at dm’s house belonged to DSis and I in the 1970s !

ThanksItHasPockets · 04/11/2018 22:33

We have the duvet that my mum and dad were given as a wedding present. They’ve just had their ruby anniversary. We use it for guests now so it’s no longer used every night but it has been cleaned regularly and is in great nick.

QueenOfMyWorld · 04/11/2018 22:33

A pair of tweezers that are 23 yrs old

moonbells · 04/11/2018 22:39

I have a 40-year-old calculator that I still use frequently. And a Philips Cafe Duo which was given to me when I went to uni - and was already a few years old at the time. So probably about 35 years old and will be used tomorrow morning. Heated hair thingy - Carmen Rolla - had since teens as well (80s!) and you can tell I'm a bit of a hoarder. Still got my Walkman too... though headphones are long gone and that definitely doesn't get used!

Also various inherited things that still work. Kenwood chef from the 70s being the most used, though my 1981 Bernina sewing machine (was terribly expensive back then) is a close second.

louderthan1 · 04/11/2018 22:43

Sony radio cassette player. Probably at least 25 years old.
Various kitchen knives that belonged to my great grandma (Granny Squarefoot, as she was commonly known)
My mum has a Singer sewing machine which is at least 70 years old.

VenusClapTrap · 04/11/2018 22:45

Just realised my Body Shop Bronzing Balls are twenty odd years old and still going strong.
